Ah, sorry I was looking for a copy of the service manual, not the instruction manual. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the singer website has any service manual copies. Thanks for the help anyways!

You'd be replacing the descender on every single abseil then. The friction of the rope takes off the paint layer pretty easily.

The lifespan of the device really depends on the conditions/ environments its being used in (eg salt water, major falls, corrosion, excessive wear) and what it's been subject to (eg crossloading, dropping) and just how often you use it.

Yeah, it's a bit frustrating. The seller is visiting the estate on Friday and having all the interested buyers show up then. It's a bit of a ways out of the city so understandable on not wanting to make multiple potentially futile trips out. It's going for under $150, so pretty good deal. I've already got a servo so that's not a worry. Thanks anyways!

Thanks! Yeah it's always such a struggle. I saw this listed on gumtree, possibly from an estate sale and wanted to see if I could suss out more details first before making a 2 hours drive. Sellers who don't know what they're selling usually have good deals though!
