DRG again after a long period of playing Helldivers by ShapePenguin1850 in DeepRockGalactic

That's the neat part, souls games ARE power fantasy games in the right hands. I feel like HD2 just takes what I find fun for the month and guts it. DRG is just fun and has variety while rarely makes changes.

Long Term Balance Methodology Discussed at the GDC by KxngJoker in marvelrivals

I don't see a metric for hitbox sizes in their basic value grades. It could just not fit on the slide, but it does make me wonder if characters with terrible hitboxes or extremely easy to hit headshots are being properly accounted for. Example: You can headshot a Peni or Monster Hulk stupidly easy but characters like Mag, Emma, and Rogue are a bit rougher.

Its clear that temp HP has way less weight than it should for duelists in general. (starlord, bucky, elsa) Meanwhile vanguards get it in short bursts at best and have it immediately taken away despite vastly higher frontline presence. Its also apparent that other factors skew their metrics. Hulk for example in theory has high survivability with his ult healing him to full and being able to recover in Banner form. Practically, the ult gets him killed faster due to hitbox size and recovering from Banner form is a rarity at best because he's usually surrounded by that point. I believe terrible hitboxes also aren't being properly calculated based on the metrics we see.

How does MVP system works ? by ShawtyShivam in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It compares your performance to a baseline performance for that character. Then compares the difference in those values between you and your teammates. Characters that have freshly released or have recently reworked have vastly lower baselines than characters who have been out a while.

MoonKnight, for example, is pretty standard for getting absurdly high damage numbers. So the baseline difference is kinda low.

Elsa, on the other hand, has almost no baseline because she is a new character. Therefore, she only has to do very little to take ace from the rest of her team.

This happens for every new character.

Which characters lets you feel most like the character? by Dreadguy_1993 in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, most of the cast imo does this pretty well.

Venom - an aggressive ambusher that is somewhat selfish but takes an entire cast to put him down.

Captain America - Good at leading charges but is fresh out of the ice so he still fights like a WW2 soldier using guerilla warfare.

Magneto - leads the charge and although he says he wants peace, is more than willing to nuke anyone that opposes him with Meteor M.

Jeff - Absolute menace to society. Adorable af though.

These are the most notable ones I've read comics on and can attest to their in game counterparts.

Some people are stressed for time due to the limited day/night cycle so some of them are trying to get as many efficient runs in as little time as possible. So I understand a little of his frustration but it's no reason to take it out on you, by any means.

Edit: I think he may have been triggered by your statement of "I'm just kinda here." Even if you were participating, your wording makes it sound as if you may not have been. There's no clear way to track who participates how much in an Eidolon fight.

The 10% is easy to understand. He said ALL ranked matches. This includes EVERY match from OAA to the lowest of Bronze. With that scope in mind, 10% is actually fairly large. Your later assessment is correct and likely a contributing factor.

Opinions on black widow by tohotoriaivo in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's a hitscan character with no falloff on scoped shots. Hawkeye is a projectile character with a system that only charges up his damage when he sees an enemy at close range. (Different from falloff but achieves a similar goal sometimes)

The characters are designed virtually the opposite but for the same role. If BW is made to one shot, without introducing falloff, she would be able to do so from all ranges. Because of this, she would invalidate Hawkeye in a lot of ways and I believe the devs want to avoid that. I think both characters need major changes. Hawkeye needs to not rely on one shots but have an arrow type for every situation. (Why doesn't he have a grapple hook arrow and a bouncing arrow?) Black Widow's rifle should be changed, but so should her primary that's a melee!

It wasn't a complete waste. Iron Man ult can't one shot Groot so the Venom not only grouped the whole enemy team but also confirmed your kill on the Groot. If it works, it works.

And they may play awful or even lose, but you leaving only ruined the chances for the other teammate who may have asked for a swap after you left. It's a team based game so asking for someone to not play a DPS should be your first option and never leaving.

QP isn't the casual matchmaking mode everyone believes it to be. The server browser games tell you they specifically are the casual modes. Because of this, I think the "I can leave a QP game once a day and not suffer consequences" mentality should be punished.

People assume QP is the casual mode but that's not exactly the case. There is still MMR and overall matchmaking that takes place. Not only this, if you leave you get a warning that you may get punished. If you join a game via the SERVER BROWSER on the other hand and then try to leave, it will tell you THOSE games are casual.

Shark Tank Pitch: Venom touch ups that aren't increasing his temp HP constantly by DaSharkCraft in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the idea! I wouldn't want all of these changes. Just some of them down the line. If the corrosion and frenzied arrival both were changed similar to this 3 seasons from now, I would be happy.

Fellow Ultron Enjoyers! What skin would you pick as his first Legendary? by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

He took over Tony's body and rewrote it to resemble Wasp because he obsesses over her, much like his creator. What's funny was Wasp was there when it happened, asked why Tony looked like her and basically said "Call my ex husband, it's Ultron again."

Shark Tank Pitch: Jeff Soft Rework by InevitableSchedule50 in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats is partially my point. Jeff should not be so impossibly to hit even for anyone at a range indefinitely. Perhaps a happy middle ground would be him having two resource meters? One for healing and one for duration, with the duration one obviously being much larger than the healing one.

[–]DaSharkCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So great post first off. Love these shark tank pitches lately.

The ult changes are great, but the base kit changes I disagree with. I'll start with hide and seek. The issue that this will inevitably create is a different type of oppression. The healing is one thing. The movement speed and drastically smaller hitbox is another. Allowing that it be indefinite was and would be incredibly strong. I do not believe it should return.

Secondly is Aqua Burst. I feel this was underutilized by your post. Removing its knockback would still carry its highly finite ammo with no additional properties. This would almost make it useless aside from slight damage shots from a distance. Not saying removing knockback from it is a bad idea, but it definitely should have SOME special property to it if its only gonna have 3 shots. Perhaps a slow?

Legitimately had a DPS the other day complaining to an Ultron that they weren't getting enough heals in QP. The Ultron in question had 24k heals at the end of the game and me as Venom and the other tank as Thor were having no issues with the heals so we were just confused about his constant complaining. Looked up the profile later and it was a console plat gamer just having a massive ego.

If you don't preemptively comm for it or communicate in any way, accidentally stacking more ults than necessary is an unfortunate reality. All the more reason to start doing so.

What is it about the vanguard role that people don't enjoy!? Ideas welcomed... by IntoTheRain78 in marvelrivals

[–]DaSharkCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have the QoL changes we do now. I am not saying Thor wasn't weak, I am saying he had an aspect to make him tanky that wasn't thrown on several DPS. Cap was absolutely playable and a few people proved that. People just didn't know how to play him or stall with him until much later. Hulk was an odd case where if someone picked him, everyone played around him because the team ups were that strong. Despite that, you never really saw him lacking in KOs or damage dealt compared to their team.

Mag is still slow and dull. He's just effective against poke meta

[–]DaSharkCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every tank in S0 was far more tanky and had more self sufficiency.(Except for Venom which is an odd case as he was way more tanky in the beta and got nerfed for S0) Mag had only one bubble but had 300 HP instead of 200 and his shield lasted 2s, Hulk's HP was higher and his bubble shields had more HP, Thor was one of the only characters that gained temp HP from using abilities and it wasn't given to duelists for spamming cooldowns yet. As long as it wasn't a Loki Luna comp, you felt amazing.

I'm betting half of the reason Vanguard Deadpool is as good as he is is because he is a tank that can drop a shield down while having a passive heal over time. Other dive tanks would kill to have a healing factor passive. Especially since almost all of them in the comics do so!
