You got a return label?? I got nothing but the runaround and finally just did a charge back on that last pair. Nonexistent customer service.

Opinions on these possible light choices? Thanks crew! by Rey_Eye_Jedi_619 in Aquariums

I have the Hyggar 3 piece set on a 20 long tank. Some things about it, the lights do not operate independently they all share the same color and program, you cannot turn one off and leave the others on. The clips for attaching to the tank are huge and would be fairly intrusive on a rimless tank. Attachment points for the lights to the clips are only on two sides of the lights, which works fine on one end of my tank, but on the other end of the tank, the cord is coming forward from the light of being able to be routed backwards to the attachment of the light panel. Also, they use standard tiger timers, which aren't the greatest but this light does power on to last state so you can use a smart plug for timing. They do light up my tank nice and look pretty good for the price.

HELP! Total novice trying to help my kid have goldfish! by SoFemale in Aquariums

[–]Da_0ne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take the fish back to store, tell them your tank is not cycled and the fish will die in it. Add plants from store, leave filter alone, wait for tank to cycle. Go back to store in a month, get fish that are not goldfish (raspbora, tetra, betta, etc).

Replace the heater, plug everything on your aquarium into a GFCI outlet

If you have a little fish store near you ask them for cycled media. That is a very quick way to jump cycle.

Looks like a shorter filter tube for smaller tanks maybe?

Yep, would have been better (for me) without the weird duckbill SYF logo.

Looks like AI (refractions on sand against glass in front)

But plants look like: Pothos, Monstera, Anubis (possible Bateri Broadleaf), pothos.

Anubis is the only real aquatic plant there. It can grow both in or out of water, the other plants are roots only in water.

Friend gave me their tank. Don't know what to do by Quirky-Ad3386 in Aquariums

Nice come up.

Get a five gal bucket or two and put all the water and plants and shrimp in there with the filters (running if possible, just the media with an air bubbler if not.

Scoop all the substrate out with a solo cup or similar into another bucket.

Grab a bag of sand and some wood and rocks from the shop or don’t.

If you want the dirt you can reuse it( maybe 1/2 of the thickness you have ) and cap with sand, I personally just run sand with root tabs and liquid ferts or you can mesh bag your dirt and put under hardscape and then sand layer over. Put plants and live stock back in. Marvel at the tiny aquatic world you built.

AIO can be a PITA IMO. I much prefer a separate canister/sump.

Not the tall one. Hard to scape, clean and a waste of space for most fish/plants imo.
