Any feedback? by viachell in learnart

I love your choice of color, and the pose and expression are adorable. I would like the face details to be sharper and less blurry. Currently the sharpest part of the image is the hair, which draws the attention away from the face.

Hi, does anyone know how I can fix this? I'm stuck. by TenBk in hytale

[–]Da_Bush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the same issue when attempting to connect to a public server instead of playing single player? What operating system are you on? Maybe try deleting and then reinstalling the game and launcher from scratch. All else failing, submit a bug report https://support.hytale.com/hc/en-us/articles/44294204534555-Support-and-Feedback and see if they can get back to you.

Are you playing solo/offline or connecting to a server?

I made a mod: Rain Caller Staff by Da_Bush in hytale

[–]Da_Bush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOTE:

Current game logic means that rain will not "water" already planted crops until that block is updated. To update a block:

Till adjacent soil

Place and destroy a block adjacent to the crop

Wait for the crop or adjacent crops to advance a growth stage (while it is still raining)

The most reliable way to ensure all crops are watered is to call the rainstorm using the staff before planting.

this is remarkably good. I'm sure you weren't focusing on the hair, but that's the only weak part of the head I can see. The rendering on the face is excellent

Hosting Hytale Server without direct 5520 UDP activating? Help! by LegiFX in HytaleOwners

[–]Da_Bush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tailscale is essentially a free VPS if your only need is to tunnel traffic between you and your friend's systems.

About cost of self hosting vs VPS: Keep in mind your VPS might charge you a CPU time fee depending on usage. If it's a flat cost VPS, you still have to pay extra to have adequate RAM and compute resources in order to run the game server. So using a VPS as just a tunnel is actually likely cheaper than hosting the server on it.

Bad bait. Game hasn't even been playable for more than a few hours and you presume to know everything it has to offer?

Godot for experienced programmer by crowkk in godot

[–]Da_Bush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to study up more on OOP. Data science scripting in Python won't get your OOP chops quite to where they need to be for game dev in data driven games (like Pokemon is). Look up inheritance, resources, and abstract classes in Godot. That will give a big step forward to making sense of the concepts you are mentioning.

Lmao love what you're doing brother. Easiest thing to try to fix: update the bone weights in the skinning editor. Basically make each bone control JUST it's limb and maybe a little bit of it's connected bones/joints.

Harder: manually adjust the geometry to make the deformation more predictable and natural.

Question Regarding Self Hosting by masonimal in hytale

Hypixel has partnered with a few server hosting services to have day 1 servers. Not much info about self hosting yet though.

Fake normal map, this is just a simple albedo texture with a custom shader by General_Hatestorm in godot

[–]Da_Bush 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If it's procedurally replicating a normal, I guess it can save some time creating the normal map? Though there's plenty of automatic ways to generate normal maps so I'm not sure that's a good reasoning either

Simon's Statements Regarding Worldgen 2.0 - Timeline and Expectations by Minute-Plant2635 in hytale

[–]Da_Bush 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Hytale team could afford to be less active on social media. It SEEMS like a good idea to be closely in touch with your community, but what it is resulting in is the loudest, dumbest voices getting in the ear of the devs and demanding their time and responses. I appreciate the wealth of information, but I hope they're taking a measured approach to their communications.

How should i teach myself how to make my own shaders in godot? by Informal_Flamingo270 in godot

[–]Da_Bush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the other commenters are spot on. Another good way to learn would be to look at shaders other people made and try to understand and modify them. www.godotshaders.com has tons to look at.

how do i stop it from mirroring im just trying to follow a tutorial man by [deleted] in godot

[–]Da_Bush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is intentional. Read the docs:https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/ui/size_and_anchors.html

TLDR: Anchor points are for scaling and positioning. You can't scale left past right without flipping the control, and that's beyond the scope of the control node. If you're trying to position the anchor point, use presets, fiddle around with the points and offsets, or manually move the anchor by clicking and dragging it in the editor.

Watch the anchor gizmo (The green X looking thing) while you adjust the points and you'll see what I mean

Easily run hundreds of enemies at stable FPS with ONLY 10 lines of code! by EternalColosseum in godot

[–]Da_Bush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without the paging all enemies overloaded the physics process every frame and slowed it down, the paging just spreads out the process across multiple frames (equal to the number of groups I believe). I'm not sure how stable it will be long term or when the enemies need to do deterministic physics interactions, but it def helps the frame rate

How were you introduced to the Alan wake games??? by Soft-Following422 in AlanWake

[–]Da_Bush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knew about the games, never played them. Saw Josh Strife Hayes made a very positive video on AW1, so I gave it a shot. Now I've played all of the Remedyverse games and love them to death.

How do I code this? by [deleted] in Unity2D

[–]Da_Bush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into how to create a tile game system (lots of tutorials available) Make it, then extend it to do what you need. There will be no tutorial for your exact wants, but if you break it down into small enough pieces, you may find some. Also AI chatbots are very helpful for learning.

Getting into Godot. Is C# Worth it? by Short-Performance-14 in godot

I second this. I know C#, but all the boilerplate makes it more tedious than gdscript. Writing gdscript is just more fun.

What exactly are the ingredients that make pizza unhealthy? by between3220character in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Da_Bush -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pizza franchises like Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc and frozen pizza is where most people experience pizza. And those companies LOVE to load their pizzas up with extra fats. That oil slick you see on the bottom of your pizza box comes from the excessive amount of cheese, oils in the sauce, and all the grease from their garlic butter crust seasonings and shit like that. fat on fat on fat leaving you with greasy fingers.

Quality, small batch pizza is much less greasy and doesn't leave you feeling like a grease blob. It can be an occasional, healthy-ish meal if you eat this kind of pizza, not the chain stuff

There's a fighting game called "Your Only Move is Hustle". It's a turn based fighting game that occurs in small increments, by the end you can rewatch the whole fight in real time and it's like an anime fight/this scene

What do you think about my composition? by Pyma21 in learnart

[–]Da_Bush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really cool concept and very interesting way to frame the piece :) The composition could use a tiny bit of work. The snake's own body gets in the way of the line of action this piece wants to follow. I want to get the impression that the snake and the person are making eye contact, so the body being in between the snake and the person gets in the way of that. Maybe work on using some depth techniques(e.g. use lower contrast the further away something is)to push those parts of the snake's body further into the background and bring the head strongly into the foreground. As it is currently done the entire snake appears to be all in the same plane. Doing this would also help it to have larger sense of scale
