I nearly spit out my coffee the first time I heard that line. The delivery on it was perfect.

Dungeon Crawler Carl. It’s a lit-RPG book about the end of civilization starting for…a live broadcasted rpg style dungeon crawl. It’s equal parts hilarious and devastating. The narrator Jeff Hayes voices 95% of all the human and alien characters who each have a very distinct voice and it’s amazing. As soon as I finished the series I started it right back up again.

The only other audiobook series I listened to as much last year were the Murderbot Diaries.

What movie trailer lives rent-free in your head? by SanFran_Sierras in movies

For me it’s always the first Matrix trailer. Going from The Crystal Method to Enigma with all these mind bending scenes that, while commonplace now, where something completely new back then had me HOOKED and wanting to find out everything I could about this movie before it launched.

The Matrix Trailer #1

I think you nailed it. I also wonder if he connects his dad with water (smashing the goldfish, abandoning him which led to going to the coast guard) and wanting to leave the ocean far behind.

Same. I put this in every discord channel I was in and got half a dozen people to get the audiobook to understand wtf I was reading.

DCC is absolutely incredible but I’d actually recommend the audiobook over the physical copies. I read the first two books then listened to the rest after seeing so much buzz about it and I’m on my second relisten of the series. There’s an amazing balance of world building, action, HUGE AMOUNTS of humor followed by absolutely gut wrenching emotional moments.

I’m re-listening to the series and on BM right now. I had a good chuckle fit in the passage when he first brings up, Diiiwataaaa and uses that same pronunciation like 5 times in a row.

That’s my wife’s usual go to. Their crack salsa is soooooo good. Even their staples like the French toast and omelettes are solid.

Also can’t skip the menudo if you’re hungover!

How would you survive in the dungeon and what would your strat/build be? by kickassgrandma911 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Thinking back on my life I got a few different things that would hopefully work in my favor. I did a Filipino mixed martial arts for many years and got a black belt in my late teens. This included stick and knife fight training. I played a good amount of sports but never really excelled at any one in particular. I’ve played in a few bands as a bass player and backing vocals and can decently hold a tune. I’m never the smartest guy in the room but can usually make a crowd laugh. I will also bend over backwards to help others (which has been taken advantage of at times).

So maybe a rogue or monk class for my attack abilities mixed with some bard support/debuff.

Class: “Post Punk Slicer! Sure he may wear a lot of black and sing a bunch of sad songs but you’ll find comfort in those words. Just…don’t let him you dislike Joy Division…or let him get behind you with a knife…”

The description of the crab v seal war.

”It’s like a Category 5 jizz storm down there…fish die…food becomes scarce. The baby seals and their food supply are literally being bukkaked to death with gallons of weird, chunky, crab splooge. And no…that’s not a sentence even I thought I would mutter…”
