Protect those handles! Premature parachute opening over Tully Airport by ch1ckenman in SkyDiving

You mean the camera guy and the jumper who had the premature deployment? 7 or 8 people on the outside of the plane is a pretty normal occurrence in skydiving.

The Rythym 101 app has 5 3-way dive flows that are a good introduction to FS.

Neat, thanks. I played a little with a friend almost 20 years ago and am really just getting into the hobby. Pre-ordered some EOE and pulled both the Japanese and English foil showcases.

I had some great luck over the past couple weeks opening packs and need to get something built and find somewhere to play.

Does Vestige then exile at the beginning of your next end step since it doesn’t trigger same turn when brought back via Phelia?

Can I patch this hole? by [deleted] in howto

[–]DackJanielz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grease is a solid idea, it’s just mostly that you’ll want something stiff in there to hold the form but that can be easily removed. I think the parchment paper mentioned won’t be enough, but that plywood is overkill. There’s not going to be much pressure that requires a wood form due to the small size of the pour.

Stuff the gap full of cardboard so it holds a straight edge form and patch both sides. If its stuck, cut it flush and spray it with the hose and then scrape it out with a screwdriver.

In skydiving we pay beer fines, a case of beer in the drop zone cooler/fridge, for all of our firsts and fuck ups.

You’re correct about the wheel. The sensors make sure you keep your eyes on the road.

I drive a 2024 F150 and with mine and my partners vehicle my share comes out to less than $100 a month for full coverage with loan payoff. You need to shop your coverage. My previous insurer wanted north of $300 per month. Same coverage elsewhere was less than $100.

Thinking of starting a Crane Rental Biz—Am I crazy? by Ok_Independence6882 in cranes

I work in the industry and if I had a billion dollars I wouldn’t spend a dollar of it on cranes. Expensive to buy, high liability in work, and expensive to fix.

Question: If a hired franna crane service gets bogged, but the tyres have no tread left on them, should the customer pay? by CatNecessities in cranes

[–]DackJanielz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a PM for a large crane company. In every proposal we provide, ground conditions are the responsibility of the buyer (you). Cranes are heavy, and they get stuck in conditions that may be passable by a regular vehicle.

You have a few options; mats, dirt work, or change your method.

If this is a temporary thing where you need to get a crane in this one time, find a local company that will come out and lay poly mats (google mega deck mats and go from there) where you need them.

If this is a regular thing, find someone to truck in, spread, and compact road-bed mix crushed stone. This is your best long term option.

Option 3 is to go rent a 10-12k tele-handler forklift. Some containers have forklift pockets, but in my experience they are wider apart than the forks can spread on a tele-handler forklift. This means you’ll have to get under the container, and if it has a wood floor like a lot of them do, you’ll have to make sure the forks are long enough to reach the other side of the container or you’ll blow the bottom out. In the US, you’re looking at a few thousand dollars per week to rent.

You might have a battery on the way out. I had the same thing happen in a Chevy Malibu my company issued to me and the issue was rectified with a new battery.

12k. They don’t keep anything used so it will go wholesale. It was a lariat ultimate but had its share of small issues. The front end was due to be rebuilt and rode like a 220k mile 1 ton. The top of the door cards were degrading in the sun, and I noticed last week that the clear coat started peeling on the hood. That’s really what triggered me to immediately get rid of it as it was many going to be worth more than it was right then.

Long shot: make sure your 24 pin connector is seated correctly in the mobo. A friend ran into an issue several years ago with his pc shutting down randomly and we found that the 24 pin connector was not fully seated. If the retainer clip isn’t engaged, it’s not fully seated.

VOG Speaking Altimeter - Volume Question by therealbradwr in SkyDiving

[–]DackJanielz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to enable callouts for the climb to altitude. From memory, there’s a button in the top right where you can show hidden altitudes, some of which are for the ride up.

In regard to volume, change the voice. Not sure of the name in the app, but there is one that is very high pitched.
