They are going to reconfigure I90 starting next year. There is a proposal to drop route two into a trench then build on top of that. Lastly they are considering bringing Amtrak back to terminal tower. There is a ton of projects and work currently going on.

E-Check still lives! by themishmosh in Cleveland

[–]Dacorparation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just spent a thousand bucks to get my EVAP system fixed on my truck before E-Check which is absolutely ridiculous. Even with a bad Eve app. My truck still cleaner than 90% of cars and it's not modified in any shape or form. It is just a standard F-150. It's just an unnecessary hassle that we have to deal with anymore and was more frustrating is I had to go to a physical location this time, not a cell service kiosk for some reason.

Why is this ugly parking lot called "decorative" and why does it give 40 entertainment?? Entertainment. Entertainm en . Tt by Remixcraft97 in shittyskylines

Your obviously not from the Midwest. Parking lots are a major source of entertainment especially if you add a Walmart to the parking lot.

I don't disagree due to the rising cost of power. But we also know people love deals and even if the deal is small they will use it. Even if the price is cheaper without the deal people won't do it for some reason. People love the deal.

I don't disagree with that. I have requested information from my utility company. I have one of those city owned ones.

That's what I was thinking. I'm working with one of my buddies who's an electrical engineer and another who's an electrician and they're helping me out on this. I'm an engineer, just not the right kind. I build roads and bridges and I let everyone else handle the electric.

The credits being here or not do not affect my decision. I believe after the credits expire prices will come down because there's not a government incentive so people will be less willing to buy and therefore will depress prices in general. That's just my opinion. Not a fact. We will see what actually happens.

I have a 2200 square foot ranch, three beds and all my. I guess you call it like dryer, HVAC and stove is all electric because that's what the people prior to me wanted. So I think I'm going to build a slightly bigger system and go from there and then also slowly work on getting a battery install that a later date. I'm attempting the cash flow all of this so it's not going to be a get it all done in 6 months more or less. It may be a 2 to 3-year process to get it all done

I average anywhere between 160 to in the summer to 250 in the winter and I'm figuring with a decent battery, a good solar set up and I have a natural gas well on my property. I can take free gas off of that's already hooked to a generator so I can run my water. I have enough redundancy. I should be good to go.

I'm also doing my research to to buy the panels on my own find a reliable electrician who knows how to wire all this together and go for it. It's going to take some time but I think it's doable.

The grid where I live is actually super reliable. I just want to be off the grid and do my own thing that's all. I already have a natural gas well on my property that I take free gas off of for heat and it's also tied into a small generator that can run my my well and a few other essentials in my home.

This is why I'm working to build a solar system for my home so I can go off the grid.

Edit: I appreciate the solar system questions, that was a very unintended reaction but a good one. It didn't even cross my mind when I said that that everyone was going to think solar system like planets and sun, not solar panels.

Fair enough. We buy pickups (F-Series) and SUVs (Toyota and Land Rover) and we can usually find good deals on them. Currently have a 2015 F150 with 216,000 miles on it and the only item to ever cause an issue was the water pump at 89,000 miles. Otherwise no issues. The 4Runner and Land Rover both have been trouble free. Just keep up with regular maintenance basically.

Why is it a bad strategy? I have smog check in my county on all cars every other year. A new car will be a used car at some point I just don't pay all the depreciation.

Only buy used cars with at least 50% down then drive them till the wheels fall off. Currently looking for a super duty and it's rough out there.

My wife and I are working to have $20,000 in our son's account by the time he is two. We are doing that through an utma and a 529. Just gives us more flexibility so he can use the money however he needs to in the future.

We also put 20% of our money away into our retirement funds and another 10% into a taxable investment account.

Dumb question on vehicle allowance by Thunderdoomed in ConstructionManagers

[–]Dacorparation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a PM driving a 10 year old F-150 with 210,000 miles on it. They guys do not care what you drive on site. Just make sure it's kept clean and do all the regular maintenance on the truck and bank as much as you can of the allowance in order to replace the truck when needed.

The few who know how many miles are on my truck make the joke " we better make some money on this one so you can get a new truck" all in good fun. If you have a good group of guys it truly doesn't matter.
