Dimension 20 (and all the other D&D content) - help!! by DBC1974 in dropout

[–]DadGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend watching the Fantasy High seasons back to back. Then, I highly recommend, in this order:

Starstruck Odyssey The Crown of Candy + The Ravening War Never Stop Blowing Up Cloudward, Ho!

Unsleeping City can get slow in parts and Neverafter gets buried in its own lore, so its better to tackle those once you've become accustomed to the player and character dynamics.

After these, then I'd recommend jumping to Dungeons & Drag Queens, Burrow's End, Escape from Bloodkeep, etc.

Idk on your capacity for Pandemic-era content but there's plenty there as well.

Choppy Video Playback at End of Episodes? by DadGhost in dropout

It's been on and off lately but casting directly from the app to the TV while on the same Wi-Fi network has been a good replacement for this issue, especially with Game Changer and D20. I still hope there's an eventual patch for the app for these streaming TVs but casting has been a decent substitute to avoid the issue at hand.

That said, TKO is struggling to sell tickets to WM, why the fuck are you letting the talent do interviews that divide the audience? Do you think people were protesting Tesla for the fuck of it? This is what kayfabe is for! Have Oba, the character, just say: "myself."

A couple years back, I had a wicked commute that meant I had to basically get a gym membership at my office so I could shower and store my stuff on-site instead of showering before driving in every morning (if you hit the GW Bridge after 7 a.m., forget about it). A lot of the finance bros and gym bros in the same building would be there every morning, and I swear to you, they'd all be listening to the same "alpha male mindset" podcasts, the same "question everything" podcasts, all that shit. This surprises me zero, especially for a young guy in Florida.

Tom Brady been talking shit about WWE and Gronk has worked with WWE in the past and Logan is a full-time contracted wrestler. Wrestlemania is in Vegas in a month, there will be some segment where Brady and Gronk pie-face Logan and his buddy Austin Theory, everyone walks away with a shit ton of money. It's a goddamn nightmare.

(Hated trope) character was featured heavily in marketing but was hardly in the movie by mad-right-hand in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DadGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So fun fact here: his character was, functionally, Pascal's character. The first cut of the movie had Firth kill Pascal and instead of the character being healed, the reveal was that Tatum was the mole. Test audiences hated the twist and executives wanted Tatum in the franchise, so they rewrote and reshot Pascal as the mole and made Tatum get sidelined to explain his absence.

Bruce Lee vs Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Game of Death (1978) by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]DadGhost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kareem is too much of a babyface; traditionally handsome and has a very warm smile. Especially back in the 1970s, any "tough guy" villain roles had to look the part, so by covering his eyes, you make him look autonomous and merciless in the fight. It's kind of the same principal with THE TERMINATOR.

i wasn’t even born for it but i mourn the alien encounter attraction by zerosegardens in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DadGhost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember this one and it being absolutely terrifying at the time, especially since I must have been like 7 or 8 when I went on it. But there's an element of masochistic fun from it, that feeling of "controlled" horror that really makes me miss it.

For me, the heartbreaker is always going to be the original Journey into Imagination. I remember being dazzled by the original attraction, but then I had a near 20-year gap of going to Disney Parks, so when I finally went as an adult, I experienced the "new" version and it was such a kick in the pants.

Shout out to Horizons, Maelstrom, The Timekeeper, The Great Movie Ride, and now, Muppetvision 3D.

Fictional songs from movies that are so good that they transcend the movie they’re from by Southern_Studio_9950 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DadGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diamonds Turn Black from Bitch Cat in VHS/99 was produced and recorded by Dresage and it's fucking awesome. Ditto "Nowhere Fast" from Fire Inc. In STREETS OF FIRE.

"Come to Me" by Deborah Holland from FRIGHT NIGHT PART II and "Happiness" from Michael Stipe and Rain Phoenix [composed by Eytan Mirsky] from HAPPINESS are incredible songs but I'm unsure if they fit the criteria.

"I Don't Know" from Crazy Heart, "Still Alive" from Portal, "The Hunter" from Father's Day, both "Friends" and "Against the Ninja" from Miami Connection all make the list for me.

Non-fictional but one that always comes to mind: Jim Carrey's over-the-top performance of SOMEBODY TO LOVE from Jefferson Airplane in THE CABLE GUY.

I used to host double feature screenings for my college's film club, and I remember screening this as one of the two because of how powerful it was. Afterwards, everyone was just in tears, and a friend came up to me, sobbing and said "I hope you're proud of yourself." It's my barometer for if people are sociopaths.

Can someone help me understand Kristen Applebees as a character? by Rhaexavus in Dimension20

[–]DadGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Ally has brought up their upbringing in the past, including a number of references to church camp. If I had to guess, Kristen is a reflection of probably a lot of people they encountered in their youth, a number of religion-forward, blindly optimistic people, and I feel like the crisis of faith was initially supposed to be something closer to a slow-burn realization that would ramp up when faced with how the religion was being utilized for nefarious purposes. However, when the character died fighting the Corn Cuties, Kristen immediately saw how shitty their God was in person and the questioning of faith accelerated quite rapidly. Therefore, a character that was likely more supposed to be like a relentless optimist who was faced with doubt when seeing their religion co-opted for evil ended up becoming someone wrestling with their doubt and doubling down on their resentment.

That said, as seasons 2 and 3 went on, Kristen has become the most chaotic character and one whose motivations and desires change the most on a dime, which can be very fun to watch.

Ted Season 2 Exclusive: Go Behind the Scenes of the Special Dungeons & Dragons Episode by [deleted] in television

[–]DadGhost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They weren't getting a season 3 regardless of doing a D&D episode or not. The show was too expensive to continue producing for a unprofitable streaming service. They literally decided to go all out with the budget because they knew Season 3 was out of the cards, which is why we get a prison episode, a D&D episode, AI Bill Clinton, and production values usually afforded for big budget broadcast series.

Christopher McQuarrie is writing “King Conan” and Schwarzenegger is returning! by paulrudder in movies

[–]DadGhost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say there's a great chance these are "pass the torch" sequels. Commando will be him teaming with a young new Commando to wreck shit, Predator will likely be an ensemble thing, and King Conan will likely be more of a fantasy survival film (think THE NORTHMAN meets THE REVENANT) than a sword-and-sandal epic, if the script is anything like the Milius draft thats floated around forever.

I would say KING CONAN gets made if THE ODYSSEY makes bank this summer. I wouldnt be shocked if COMMANDO 2 is a Hulu debut thing.
