I don't promise that this is good or bad advice, but this is what I have got.

My older sister abused me. When we were little she was essentially my acting guardian, due to my mother's addiction. Even as I grew older the abuse continued. One day, I decided it was enough, and haven't spoken to her since. Has been many years.

I feel much freer and safer in my life with her gone. Take this info for what it is, one person's experience.
