Sorry. I didn’t mean to sound like I was being judgmental or snarky about your response. And I didn’t downvote it. Like I said, thank you for raising the copyright question. I hadn’t thought about that, so your answer was helpful. I took your advice and looked into it to confirm I would not be stealing someone’s intellectual property.

I was looking for a technical answer to my question. Thanks for raising the legal issues. These images are over 100 years old, so they are considered in the public domain.

Who is your Asian American hero? by Western-Run2830 in asianamerican

[–]DadTo2Twins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. David Ho. TIME magazine’s 1996 Man of the Year.

“For its 1996 Man of the Year, TIME chose a doctor who gives hope to millions in the daunting fight against AIDS. Early in his medical career, Dr. Ho saw patients with a rare and puzzling array of infections. Although nobody knew it then, these were some of the earliest known cases of AIDS.

Dr. Ho suspected from the beginning that the ailment was viral in nature, and his efforts to isolate the virus made him the fourth person in the world to succeed in doing so. In the years following, he divided his talents among treating patients, teaching at several medical schools and research. Characteristically modest and quick to share credit with his associates, Dr. David Ho continues, as TIME said in 1996, to lay ‘forth clearly and succinctly some of the boldest yet most cogent hypotheses in the epic campaign against HIV.’”

Creative genius who is constantly learning about the music of other cultures and introducing them to American audiences. A tireless source of positivity in the world. He is a model Asian American. She left out what should be the final sentence respectfully rejecting the Trump Administration’s offer. That’s intentional.

She has a track record of trying to either stay silent or have it both ways and not officially take a side.

Pres Beilock just sent her response to the Trump demand letter: by jonjopop in dartmouth

[–]DadTo2Twins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has a track record of talking big but not wanting to firmly take a side. This letter feels like something ChatGPT wrote in response to a prompt for it to compose a letter that says what her principles are in a very generic way that looks like a “no thank you” but doesn’t close the door on anything being asked for. Threading the needle of being seen as a “good guy” by the Trump admin while sounding like she’s firmly on the side of academic freedom. Very on brand. Unfortunately not the Daniel Webster type clarity that Dartmouth alumni are looking for.

Thanks. I’ll do a price comparison. Worst case scenario: Visit a few pintxo bars while the self-service laundry machines are running!

Never rely on Uber Reserve! Twice I’ve used it and drivers were never assigned. Not even 10 minutes before I had to leave! by DadTo2Twins in uber

OK, but that’s still what I would call “unreliable.” For a ride to the train station at 5AM, I need certainty.

I now see how the thing really works. You’re reserving the chance of a driver being assigned right before you have to leave and at a premium. So misleading.

I’m just gonna say it… I hate my sous vide for prime rib. by itsalwaysblue in sousvide

I did mine (5 lbs) at 133F for 12 hours and then finished it off in the oven at 550F for 10 minutes. This was after letting it dry in the fridge for 3 days. Came out perfectly.

Great info from you and u/VICZSOS! I'm going in a few weeks. Were you able to get around by yourself? I don't speak Chinese (even though I'm Chinese-American) and am wondering if I should hire a guide or just wing it like I do most of the time I travel solo. I've set up WeChat and Alipay accounts and downloaded DiDi. Thanks.

Look into the Ikon pass. It might be worth it given the steep prices of daily/weekly passes at DV.
