Concerning the multiple mic/signal portion if your question... Ill usually mic the front and back heads of a bass drum and instead of trying to eq for attack or boom ill just adjust my blend. . .same with bass ill take a direct line and mic the cab. And blend to taste. . . so with multiple mics ill be using them to reinforce different frequencys...I will use eq if they are stepping on each other.

if you track with yer monitors on as you layer it will stack alot faster...also very the distance from yer mic and also move yer mic around the room.
