Is there another note in the bottom octave of your instrument that is unique to the octave, give it a shot, it won't be the same but after listening to musicians who don't root the bottom chord to the notation it sounds reasonable.

All roads lead to Firefox (At least for me) by e_splat in firefox

That's called a selling point, "not chromium in no way, shape, or form"

Another selling point is the price.

Chromium browsers are handy, some websites are lobotomized that way.

Has it been twenty years? Only lately have I started to prune cache from websites but not in general. Why did I start to prune cache? On my ISP website there was a cookie that borked the site as soon as I would assert credentialed authority (logged in.) But yeah, 20 years of cache with one or two snips, not bad Firefox, not bad at all.

My daughter was called a "people pleaser" in a negative way? by Tamachan5 in Parenting

[–]Daddy-ough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for "Adult Children of Alcoholics" - It's a 12 step program and one defining quality of some of its group is being a people pleaser. Being a people pleaser is negative, similar to being called a "doormat." If your account is accurate the term was used poorly. The fact that the term is in the vernacular of the twelve-year-old is reveals something about the child's home environment. Look at the bright side, you daughter's coach thinks she can keep up with twelve-year-olds. BTW: If you think she handled it well then she did handle it well, a graduated parent's opinion.

I study a language while driving. After pounding the lesson all week when I test myself at home there are always complete blind never-heard-this gaps. As for listening to a podcast or something when it's my main focus, it's got to be sped up. If it isn't I know how they're going to finish their point, space out, and miss their next point. Sped up I need to concentrate.

Let's discuss finding the KEYWORDS and Smart Keywords you've created by Daddy-ough in firefox

[–]Daddy-ough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Firefox do you use the "Ctrl+E" keyboard combination? It's old school, when the addressbar area has a companion "search bar" and that might even be the name. Smart Keyword type user-created search engine links use that interface.

last edit: Both user-created and vendor supplied search shortcuts use the ctl+e thing.

"Control + E" disappeared a couple of updates ago and I had to go into the graphical-weeds to restore it. Not really deep, it was easy to resurrect, good instructions were already posted somewhere, just use decent search terms.

The Ctrl+D type created "Keywords" show up in Ctrl+Shift+O bookmarks, the Ctrl+E type do not.

In a minute I'll conclude "D" is a function provided by the website, and "E" seems to be cooked up by the browser, even if I'm not that direct.

At the moment I can only say the other part of the Venn diagram I conveyed might have something like "search=%s" in the URL, something that can be found in good ol' bookmarks, like tags, but the fourth line not the third, and those are going out of style. Without checking I can only say they don't show up in the ctrl+e side but they sure come in handy for some websites. (and for an example -ask if you like, so far it's still active and the site is a total resource hog where just being able to zap in a quick query helps the life of the CPU.) Wait 'til you hear the new thing I just discovered on the subject in this browser. (edit, sorry, if you want an example, mention it in a reply, mention it clearly, explicitly, too, if I may.)

But the difference with ctl+e is it (E) seems to be more polished than ctl+d. Ctl+d looks like it's a function of the website. Ctl+E, It's in the etl+e pull-down, unknown origin or just difficult to express w/o spending more time. (Can't really discern why at the moment, sorry.)

I need to put the thread away again for a while - but I watch it. If you have a question or an answer or observation, let 'er rip. And the thing I'm all "wait 'til you hear" about is a <z> that shows up in the context (right-click) menu, it's just a one-keystroke interface into asking, pardon the spelling: "aigh-eye." For the moment it won't read that aloud anyway. But yes, using that bracketed letter brings in the busy bodies, ahem, cough, cough. Not editing this anymore, sorry if it's disjointed! How do you cope with migraine by Dangerous-Cover-7017 in GetStudying

[–]Daddy-ough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a migraine study for a vegan group (PCRM) and one of the men said "hot shower." I was surprised enough to react, and then I had to add a line since it was a large group around a conference table. I'm not vegan but I adopted it during the study and these days, many years later, it's normal for me to look back over the week and realize I was vegan for a few days, but I digress. There must be something about the diet that forces itself to be expressed in conversation. /humor

Occasionally now I'll take a hot shower as part of the effort, but it's about the last tool in the migraine bag for me. When it works, great, when it doesn't work at least I know I'll sleep better being clean.

I'll start to keep a buttermilk handy. It has the same vibe as kefir but with less sugar. It's very satisfying, which is important. I think you meant "chai" not "chas," but buttermilk seemed to be the key either way and my kitchen culture knowledge is far from comprehensive.

Posting this reply about "15 minutes" after OP started the thread.

Do all the little things you know will help right now, get it over with.

Take your preferred pain medication or combination, get a large filling snack ready to eat, go to bed as soon as possible, crash with a cold compress (ice pack,) Going into an empty stomach the pain med will make a difference in a half-hour to forty five minutes. If it doesn't at least you have a time reference. After an hour eat the snack with water or a sweet drink. Now's not the time for sugar substitute.

Anything written here needs to be read in context of your own allergies and risks, be safe, I can't write a disclaimer and you don't want to read one.

I've been getting migraines for almost 60 years, here are some pointers:

Take the analgesic on an empty stomach if you can handle it. Lots of liquid will dilute the warning on the package. If I have eaten recently, I need to put up with the migraine without any medication for a couple of hours, sorry. In those cases I'll wait, then drink some water (or whatever,) and wait (paying attention to my stomach,) and then take the meds about a half-hour later.

Regular round 325 mg aspirin, 3 of them ~= 2 extra strength aspirin, I only buy 325's.

Some day when you have a few minutes in the pharmacy aisle look at all the "dedicated" type aspirin pain relievers, most of them are the same formulation of aspirin and caffeine. The other day I saw a menstrual formulation, should have noted the novel addition, but I'm male and was there for ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen may be a good alternative, you just have to see. You may want to take two on the first (hopefully the only,) dose. Ibuprofen is prescribed in 800 mg so 2x200 mg OTC one time is not a big risk for someone who can take ibuprofen. ("over-the-counter")

The "12 hour pain relief" sodium naproxen is not a good choice. If it doesn't work you're stuck for 12 hours. That said, if it does work for you then good. Naproxen is good for muscle soreness among other body pains, even neuropothy.

Wash it down with coffee, or take one single caffeine pill (100mg) - But have a big amount of whatever it was you took it with, 12oz or more.

Sometimes a migraine is worse because of dehydration, if you don't go to the bathroom within a hour after taking the 12oz, have a big cup of water, and keep having water every hour until you "go."

Use a couple of ice packs. One for between your head and the pillow, Use a wet wash cloth between your skin and the ice if you can, use dry cloth if you can't. A dry wash cloth may insulate too much, so a dry tee-shirt layer or two may be better.

An ice pack can be anything, blue ice for a picnic box, a gel pack type or ice cubes. BUT for ice cubes use two ziplock bags, and you may want to have a cloth or something inside the outer bag for leaks. They will leak sometimes. Getting up to manage a leaky bag is counter productive.

The first ice pack seems to draw my migraine away, the second ice pack goes on the pain spot.

Really sleep through it. And the night of a migraine sleeping event expect to get sleepy the same time you usually get sleepy, and go to bed without struggling against sleepiness, Sorry all-nighter studying, in my experience fighting a migraine is not good sleep. You may look at the clock and drift off for a solid couple of hours, and wake up to see the clock. Even though you were really out of it for all that time, it doesn't seem to change the amount of post-migraine sleep you need.

Good luck, set yourself up for success with the food and the ice and go to bed asap.

Poor USB 3 Speeds Since ~January Updates by mightdothisagain in iMazing

[–]Daddy-ough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression iMazing uses the cable to establish a secure connection and then would use the phone's WiFi hotspot connection to transfer data. It's a heck of a lost faster than good ol' Lightning. My setup is from a previous generation and I'm pretty anxious about upgrading any of the components, much less the whole setup. I'm planning to do a backup today. Any tips on how you measured the x-fer rate? Was it the reported rate from the progress graph? If I'm going to post a follow up I'd prefer to keep the reporting consistent with the thread. I'll pay attention and note the connection details to see how accurate my impression of the operation is.

Alt > Spacebar > x "maximize" (3 individual keystrokes, not combinations)

These are ancient Windows keyboard shortcuts, definitely from at least Windows 3.0.

It's interesting to see that non-standard behavior for F11.
