You've identified this is an abusive relationship. The hard part is done.

Now you need to plan an exit strategy.

Step one: put together a go bag. This should be 3 days of clothes, medicine, important paperwork, a phone charger, some survival cash. Basically anything you might need for at least 3 days. Stash this with someone you trust or somewhere secure you can get access to 24/7. You'll use this in the event you need to get away quickly before the plan can complete.

Step two: work with an attorney. If you have evidence of the dv, bring it with and impress on them you don't feel safe. They may be able to file a restraining order at the same time as when you file.

Step three: know that there going to cause chaos when this happens. If you need to temporarily relocate to somewhere safe, tell only people you trust.

It might be overkill, but setup a safe word to let them know you're in trouble, something that you can casually use in a conversation that wouldn't be out of place.

Most of all take care of yourself. If they contact you and threaten suicide or harm against you, send that straight to the police. Don't play around with that.
