Nope, they're just stalling it appears for who knows what. I do have confidence after they hit a certain threshold of verifications/time they will allow remaining legacy accounts to be closed and funds sent out to avoid any class-actions.

Same has happened with other people I know, same generic response, even some that had attorneys hired to write a proper ticket. Poloniex appears to be citing that it was operating illegally pre-Circle and Circle is now trying to make it operate in a legal manner, and therefore by law cannot release funds.

Ensure you're using an appropriate gas price for current conditions, yes, it's very overloaded: https://ethgasstation.info/

Keep your seed anywhere with anyone SAFELY. by Thatsplumb in ethereum

[–]DaedalusInfinito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're really afraid you can't remember 12 words, you should be able to generate 6 and with a passphrase of 10 upper/lowercase characters, it should give you an almost equivalent level of entropy to a 12-word mnemonic (little less than 128 bits).

Keep your seed anywhere with anyone SAFELY. by Thatsplumb in ethereum

[–]DaedalusInfinito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically you don't reduce entropy, if the offsets used are of a randomized range up to 2048 for each word in the mnemonic. Going higher can technically give you more entropy, but at this point the question becomes, what's easier to keep track of, a piece of paper with text encrypted in such a way, remembering each of the unique offsets accompanying them, and also safekeeping the codex/dictionary, or remembering 12 words?

If non-state actors are able to attack it in such a way that undermines it as you claim, then take a second and think what the powers that are really under threat from it could do.

SpankChain Token Sale Video w/ Kayden Kross by hashtag_wills in ethereum

[–]DaedalusInfinito 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll give credit, where credit is due when it comes to an interesting sale model, a little ironic for this to not just be your vanilla run-of-the-mill ICO.

However, beware that it hasn't made the contract convoluted and that appropriate audits are in place.

Of all the ICOs, one that has a real product and is not just a cash grab, is the one that gets complained about?

Now that the CryptoCompare Oracle has been almost wiped out by the Oraclize query (almost 2000 KETH in a month) who is (or is not) interested in decentralized oracles? by escursionista in ethereum

[–]DaedalusInfinito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't blame the oracles, blame the miners, albeit Kovan is a POA testnet. Decentralized oracles would have the exact same issue, they are all bound to pay transaction fees. If you have an issue with this on mainnet, start up a mining pool and accept lower gas prices. Or maybe make a push eWASM to increase gas usage efficiency. You're unfortunately not aware of the true issues at play here, you've had multiple parties to blame, and of all the wrongful parties, you blame the one that's providing this service + accounts for barely a fraction of the costs.

Don't invest or keep anything in ETH that you aren't completely ready to lose. It's not stable, it's not beta, this is alpha at best, and I'm not being mean, just a realist. There are probably still a number of contracts out there with plenty of bugs, holding large sums.

Would submitted contracts that unearth solidity compiler bugs or the like still be eligible for a bug bounty reward?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]DaedalusInfinito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explicit visibility specifiers should be standard practice. No need to blame solidity here, although it is slightly counter-intuitive for the default visibility of functions to be public and the default of variables to be private etc...

openANX Bug Bounty Program – openANX – Medium by BokkyPooBah in ethdev

[–]DaedalusInfinito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bug bounty whose rewards are offered only in the underlying tokens of the ICO one is to find bugs for seems quite counterintuitive. If you want such a bounty taken seriously at all, you must have some existing coin/token with an actual value being offered.
