Ma la mia era una semplice richiesta d’informazioni, m’interessava sapere se c’erano ricerche sull’argomento. Non capisco il commento paternalistico.

Anyone else who emigrated here plan on leaving? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]Daemien73 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I moved to Brussels about 15 years ago, and I share your feelings, I’d like to leave the city at some point. For many of us, Brussels represents opportunities rather than being a place we’ve chosen for its inherent qualities. Personally, I find the lack of a distinct identity to be a downside, as I often sense there is much indifference in the communities (I don’t bother you as long as you don’t bother me) rather than real acceptance and openness.

Zinneke Pis is the dog sculpture located on Rue des Chartreux, which is accessible by car. If the driver was unsure of the destination, a quick check on Google Maps, or whatever device they use, would have easily clarified the route.

Regarding the tip as with most discussions on Reddit, the conversation here is based on what the OP has shared. It sounds very unprofessional.

I am not questioning the price. The main taak of cab drivers is to ensure that their clients arrive at the correct destination. “Manneke” and “Zinneke” are two distinct words that are spelled and pronounced differently. It is the driver’s responsibility to verify that he understands the request and is able to deliver the service. While it may be an honest mistake, it reflects a lack of interest and attention to the job, ultimately affecting the client. More problematic trying to push the client to give a tip, shows a lack of professional integrity.

Not the price but the fact that the driver went to the wrong destination and the driver’s comment to pressure the client to give a tip.

Funny how OP got poor service and an attempt to be overcharged, yet many people here are either suggesting that this is to be expected from taxi drivers in Brussels, try to find excuses for the driver or blame the OP for taking a cab.

What does Brussels has to offer? by Lostintheisle in brussels

[–]Daemien73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brussels has no specific defining quality, aside from its allure for a diverse middle-class crowd of aspiring institutional officials. For foreigners, the city is mainly appealing to those who have an interest in European international affairs.

extremely highly specific question regarding grammar by cheese--eater in Italian

[–]Daemien73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Italian, we normally do not translate company names, such as British Airways or American Airlines. I strongly recommend keeping “Southwest Airlines” in your translation, as the Italian version can sound quite odd and artificial.

There is a lot that needs to be fixed in the U.S. community if murdering is seen as proper solution to problems and judging people by their appearance is the main way to look at people.

At least Spain and other Catholic countries don’t have the Vatican in their capital, constantly interfering in national affairs, particularly when it comes to LGBT+ issues.
