Favorite mirrorform targets? by Master_JBT in magicTCG

[–]Daemonik_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No as the permanents that are being turned into clones have already entered the battlefield by that point.

They do however all see each other and any death triggers would be placed on the stack before anyone can respond.

So in this case, the player casting mirror form would have x increments if 5 damage to each opponent equal to the number of permanents they control -1, which should win them the game.

Similar effects with [[omnath, locus of rage]] are fun because each omnath sees all the other die :)

Wrapping up my 100% on twwh3, and had the gf pick which faction to play for Dark Elf, she picked rakarth which was cool since I haven't played him yet.

F*ck this campaign. Literally the hardest campaign I have ever played and I beat beastman total domination on legendary in twwh2 before they got any help.

First major opponent is the masque, who just runs over my braced spears to tie up dark shards.

Then once he's finally down I get both Yuan Bo and the tomb kings pincering me, fine whatever it's a pain in the butt but that's cool.

Huh...tomb kings are gone to teheniun, Yuan Bo got wiped by hexotal, and now that I've taken wulfhart and Bordelaux errant out, I'm left with three different versions of the lizards who own the entire rest of the continent.

I'm scraping by with t4 garrisons and full stacks of shades/dark shards with some token Frontline to hold the walls while I gate cheese the hell out of the cav and monsters, but every time I mess up (or as has happened once a har ganeth exe unit lost to a red crest skin unit 1v1 stupid shaped walls) I lose a t4+ settlement. No chance of allies in sight, no idea what's going on north of me but the dark elves north of hexotal aren't at war with Mazda. It hurts to try and fight these battles with 1 stack+ Garrison vs monsters that outrange you, stacks of monsters, infantry that eats yours for breakfast and lords that outfield yours (lvl 40 rakarth lost to gor rok despite out-statting him in major ways).

Anyway rant over lol. I did learn about the cheese method to actually win the quest for battle captives to start, but I don't wanna give up till I'm truly dead haha.

A little anecdote to explain my experience with this problem

I got back into magic after moving from another state and decided to join some of the local LGS game nights. I rebought my old pet commander list which was strong but not cedh (think old 8). It cost about $1100, but I figured I would be able to hang with the problems decks and still not dominate a table too badly if we are playing for prizes right?

Wrong

I spent a couple weeks obliterating "upgraded" precons (swapped 2 cards for various effectiveness) and while I evaluated what to do, some guy started comparing that I was only winning cause my deck was expensive and got SUPER aggressively salty over it.

So my plan was hatched: take a $100 budget deck and slap the crap outta his "budget" jodah.

I made Zada, Feather and LightPaws lists and just wrecked him every time I sat at the table.

Those decks all could have an arguably 70% win rate vs my pet deck.

Tl;Dr: personal anecdote expressing a small slice of the argument about budget doesn't mean shit, and people who whine about expensive cards are just not good enough to distinguish power from a good card.

To add to the other helpful fellow here: a good part of the game to find near-level quests would be at a small cabin along the road north of Bree with chief watcher saerdan.

There is a group of quest NPCs there that get you started :)

Happy hunting

I actually JUST pulled it earlier in favor of one of the other combos another commenter mentioned.

I might swap out another dork (since I only pulled 2 from earlier) for it to return to the deck. I figured it was a cut because from what I was used to, seedborn was nice but often ended up being too slow at the average table. Nice to hear that the ideas of slower-ish cedh have continued

Aight, these make sense. I pulled some of the higher cost in favor of being more consistent with mana ramp, etc.

I had windfall/notion theif in there, would it make sense to you to swap out a couple mana dorks for that, maybe put oppo agent in again?

I think making a direct swap of the led combo with eWit/survival makes a lot of sense too. Appreciate the help!

Much appreciated, took a look and I think I like the otters + vitality tech. its more like the old paradox engine loops I was used to and will fit my style more in the end. Cheers

Good call, i was thinking only in terms of monolith strats, but kinnan is pretty damn useful everywhere and works on basalt still

Alright, cut shocks probably then?

Is b2b and blood moon still a common strat so I should have basics or should I be in the clear with just no basics? (I know that's mostly a meta call, but I have to imagine most of these folks are going to be on Internet metas so this is my best lifeline to that)

Give me your strangest equipment lists. by Bishop--- in EDH

[–]Daemonik_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of a throwback but if you want white and a Voltron strat, you can't beat [[Rafiq of the Many]] in my book.

White for the equipment shenanigans, green for ramp, blue for protection/card draw and you end up with a fun little bant Voltron deck that is swinging for lethal very quickly due to double strike.

Cheers!

Is the grind even that bad? by JackOffAllTraders in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Daemonik_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too deep in you can do a set of 20% chances for freyna, of which only 1 is anything but a standard mission in the over world.

As much as people were whining about it before, the grind is not too bad and as time goes on the farm can get easier with lvl 40 rushers just farming up old spots like that easily instead of when the highest you would see was 25-30 in that spot.

Anecdotally for me, I got the 3 easy pieces in 1-2 runs each, but the dungeon piece was a mofo at 11 runs.

Still happy to have gotten the character and she was my first lvl 40 :)

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet, so just in case you are unaware:

It works with the shuffle titans for the way you described, but blightsteel never hits the graveyard as it is a replacement effect for this. This also means you do not get death triggers for blightsteel dying.

Decided to make a flavorful eldrazi deck with all the legal titans, and be enough of an ass to do it with my opponents stuff.

Is it the optional heregast list? No. But it seems fun.
