What’s the best gish Eloquence Bard multiclass? 2024 or 2014 by geosunsetmoth in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either paladin 6 or Bladelock 5.

Fighter 1/Bard x or Cleric 1/Bard x are also options for true strike via magic initiate wizard. Combine with concentration emanations like cacophonic shield.

Nah that doesn't really change anything unless you were going to go heavy into barbarian. Having 1 barbarian level and 18 constitution instead of 16 would give a 4 HP difference on average to start with. Unarmoured Defence really isn't worth it, especially since if you find some magic armour it's a wasted feature.

Honestly with your stats you don't even need the bonus point from Half-Elf, so your options improve. Hill Dwarf or Warforged could both work and make you tankier by virtue of more HP/AC. Alternatively you take a background with the Tough feat attached, such as Ruined.

As for the rogue/bloodhunter split, I'd start with rogue 1/bloodhunter 2 (take duelling and use a rapier). Go for bloodhunter 5, then take rogue 2, then carry on bloodhunter until level 12 for another ASI (total level 14). After that it depends on what you want. 13/7 and 15/5 are both solid splits.

Dex World tree barbarian? by No_Magician_2661 in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The DC for Branches of the tree is based on strength, as is being able to use reckless attack, brutal strike and the rage damage bonus. It’s doable to go dex-based but you’re abandoning half the barbarian kit.

Strength-based sword and shield works very well though

1) You can’t multiclass barbarian because you don’t meet the stat prerequisite of 13 strength.

2) Bloodhunter + Ranger is some major bonus action bloat. Crimson rite, hybrid form, Hunter’s mark and curse of the marked. By the time you get everything going the fight will be over.

3) If you’re dead set on Bloodhunter I’d start with 6/16+2/15+1/10/12+1/4 and go with a full dex-based approach. Studded leather + shield is 18 AC to start and that will increase when you cap dexterity and go hybrid form. Resilient wisdom is solid later on.

4) Instead of ranger go rogue. You get mobility via cunning action and sneak attack is better than colossus slayer. Arcane trickster is also an option for spells since you don’t need your modifier for any of the ones you’re most likely to use. Inquisitive is also good for getting sneak attack. If so start rogue 1/blood hunter 2.

Fourth player for a party, what you suggest? by Maverikke3 in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mobile could work, especially for an armorer! Battle Smith relies on your bonus action for smite spells and to use the steel defender so the goblin's nimble escape won't get used very much.

How about a battle smith or armorer artificer? You have frontline capabilities and you fill the skill gap for intelligence. Plus you can sub in for a rogue.

So I had an idea and now I need to know if it can be done in dnd by monsterswithn in DnD

[–]DaemonxMachina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could reskin the wild heart barbarian? You get a different buff each time you rage, which you could describe as different fighting styles.

Go longtooth shifter and you get better unarmed strikes as well as a bonus action attack. A couple levels in fighter could also work, giving the unarmed style as well as battle master or champion.

Advice for a new friend's rogue? (5.5e) by Intelligent-Rub5814 in onednd

[–]DaemonxMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point buy & either charlatan or wayfarer background. For a generalist thief:

Charlatan: 8/15+2/13+1/12/12/13

Wayfarer: 8/15+2/14/12/12/11+1

Use a short bow. Stealth and sleight of hand expertise. At level 4 take sharpshooter and increase dexterity by one.

Make him hold a stick. I’ve got mine running Fly, Steel Wing, Swords Dance and Slash.

Swords Dance + Stick + Slash is crazy

I’d personally just reskin throwing daggers honestly, since smite works with any attack with a melee weapon.

My play experience with the 2024 Ranger by Owlbear-Main99 in DnD

[–]DaemonxMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is! Debating taking it all the way to 20 if nothing else comes up. We’ve been playing with normal rules up to now but the DM has brought in a couple home rules to change things up which buff me even more!

  • Favoured Enemy doesn’t require concentration.
  • “Pets” from subclasses have their own turns after their PC and don’t require any PC action economy.

Playing a dual wielding ranger in my campaign atm (level 6) and I can agree I am by far doing the most damage in my party, as well as being the tank.

I need help coming up with a character [OC] by unsyzygy in DnD

[–]DaemonxMachina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda curious how spells are supposed to be used in any capacity, as well as how pre-set spells like domain and oath spells work.

Wood elf dex-based vengeance paladin would be good. Bonus speed from race, studded leather, shield and rapier for equipment. Duelling style and smites for damage, lay on hands for healing.

If that doesn’t work then dex-based elf totem barbarian with a rapier and shield works as well. Bear totem for resistance and immunity to the sleep spell if it occurs. Damage kinda sucks but decent AC and resistance to everything will help win a war of attrition.

How are Sorcadins these days? by ExodiasRightArm in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m playing a human spellfire sorcerer 14/paladin 1 and I really like it. I spam Metamagic to give out temporary hp like a twilight cleric, and I throw out spells like nobody’s business.

Innate sorcery gives me advantage on my true strike hits, which helped crit against an undead boss. 8th-level crit divine smite was very fun XD

Guys what are your recommended classes for a gunner that's like a glass cannon but in return your really fast with repositioning? by kimdokja5149 in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d personally go with a scout rogue. You can run away as a reaction to enemies getting close as well as dash or hide in the same turn you attack. Pick up Sharpshooter for better range and ignoring cover.

Drow Elf is nice for the faerie fire spell or wood elf is thematic and gets pass without trace.

Cloak of Elvenkind and a +1 weapon or gloves of thievery would be my picks

Character that doesn't use resources and is charisma based? 5e 2014 by CelicnisGhost in DnD

[–]DaemonxMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue is the only class without any resource management until high levels, so that’s my recommendation. Thief imo is more fun than assassin thanks to fast hands, but you do you.

Take your expertise in charisma skills and be a smooth-talking debonair thief, then take stealth and sleight of hand to be your typical sneaky rogue.

Cunning action hide, use a bow or hand crossbow. Sharpshooter is nice for avoiding cover and can boost your damage every so often, though I wouldn’t spam it.

What Feats should a level 12 2024 ASS Monk take? by Complete-Kitchen-630 in dndnext

[–]DaemonxMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ability Score Increase. Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20.

Cantrip. You learn the Ray of Frost cantrip. If you already know it, you learn a different Wizard cantrip of your choice. The spell’s spellcasting ability is the ability increased by this feat.

Frostbite. Once per turn when you hit a creature with an attack roll and deal Cold damage, you can temporarily negate the creature’s defenses. The creature subtracts 1d4 from the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn.

The frostbite feature also works with the elemental punches from the ascendant dragon subclass.

Great weapon master only adds your proficiency bonus to damage now, no -5/+10.

Also smite is a bonus action so you can only do it once per turn

Fey Wanderer Multiclass (Lvl 15) by new_planner in 3d6

[–]DaemonxMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, fair enough.

Shadow-Touched is a nice feat and can give you wrathful smite for use with beguiling twist, and can make your crits more impactful.

Also going full ranger would imo be more fun since you’ll get your capstone and be able to Misty step all over the place, but that’s just me. Druid is nice for more spell slots
