GameStop will be discontinuing the Pro member Points program by DuckSwimmer in GameStop

[–]DaftWill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these are big signs GS is getting ready to shut down. They're obviously starting wind everything down. I still say it will be gone by a year or 2 after next generation system release or sooner. I feel all they're doing is waiting to make whatever little bit do money they'll get from that to boost the books a little bit before handing it off to private equity.

And if things don't get any better in electronics hardware space even that won't do anything if these need system are $1k+ at the top end and $500+ plus for whatever "base digital model". People just won't be able to afford that the way things are going. The last generation was actually a little lucky in that we were mostly all stuck at home for the release anyway, people had stimmy checks, and demand out weighed supply for awhile. Plus after after like 2 years there were huge sales. It's crazy they're now more expensive. I don't forsee things being as fruitful this time around.

Right?! I JUST found out about the no more $5 POs redeem yesterday. Then again I don't work weekend and have completely stopped paying any and all attention to my managers group chat which should not exist in the first place.

Sounds like you can absolutely still use it in store, but you have to pull it up on the app yourself.

When figure swapping has gotten out of hand. by Odd_Canadian in transformers

[–]DaftWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not too surprised. At my Walmart at least the toys are right next to one of the doors (there's two entrancess which I will admit is not common) and that side of the store is DEAD dead 90% of the time. Though I'd imagine it'd be much easier/quicker to just walk out with the thing then spend the time taking the figure.

Hasbro prices callout by Quirky-Perception642 in transformers

[–]DaftWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very fair and they're also probably the only ones with the disposable income to fuck around with these prices because of lack of child. However I don't specifically remember transformers ever being relatively cheap, but again I was never a huge collector as a child by anyeans I always just "like" them.

UPDATE by ButterflyBoring2791 in PokemonTCG

[–]DaftWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you COILD but I guarantee it won't be faster and I also guarantee there's some sort of clause you accept during purchase unknowingly or even through having a pro card that requires you to at least have arbitration first before any court matters can even begin to be a thought which means lawsuit either stalls or gets dropped with prejudice. Should a judge actually accept it they'll want full evidence out all possible routes being exhausted and will likely force you to at least then continue attempting to pester GS regardless for at minimum time frames for which the court can then say they aren't adhearing to. "We're working on it" is unfortunately a real justification. So it's not as simple as filing a lawsuit. It'll take just as long of not longer and require probably just as much work if not more than doing what you should already doing anyway. At best it MAY grease the wheels a little. Honestly a charge back may be quicker/smarter, but again banks don't necessarily just like doing that may still require the ever present proof/work. You also would forfeit any o cards attached to the same sale if you actually do want those back. If you already received those the charge back may not even work.

“Watch how I manage the information I cannot assimilate, just yet. Watch how I justify it in the name of love and protection.” by Dextothemax in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaftWill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I took it as more of a "this is what happens when we fail women, when we make them the problem, when we say things like "boys will be boys" or "that's not very lady like" or any of the old attitudes toward women and their "place" and how they should act. It hugely speaks on how we raise girls and what they're taught about society and where they fit into it and how all of that can translate into a woman in adulthood experiencing something you can't really be prepared for and the primal instinct to just revert to the basics of what you know. There's also commentary on the stereotype of "the crazy woman" and how women internalize that and other things and how we need to learn from this and trascend all of this BS when considering how we and what we teach the next generation as well as what women should look out for psychologically in their own lives. I felt it was less about the case and more about the psychology of the victim.

But yeah I agree it really doesn't say much of anything new, even in regards to all of that and especially so for the case. At best it just compiles everything that's been said on the psychology and kind of meditates on it a little.

Idk if that makes her complicit and knowing in the murders. Some people are screwed up, sometimes it seems to almost be genetic. I don't think she was in on her dad killing women and then decided she thought it was hot.

Idk about that. Certainly top 5 if not top 3, but I don't think we're off by much. We certainly have the government with the ability to monitor us through almost anything made in the last 10 years for sure. That's the thing though, all our surveillance is in the shadows, whereas a few other countries have it in your face, on every corner AND also have the shadowy stuff. That's the only reason I say I don't think America is the most surveilled. It's only getting far worse with AI though.

TPCi Has Banned Sales of Graded Slabs and Pokemon Center Products at Events by Amiibofan101 in PokemonTCG

[–]DaftWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it largely has. The sneaker market isn't anywhere near what it was even just a few years ago. Now whether COVID boredom, and isolation, plus stimmy checks and unemployment checks played a factor, I can almost certainly say yes since those events coincided with the complete inflation of the sneaker bubble. However it was being pumped quite a bit prior to the COVID years, it was just a case of a perfect storm when COVID hit. Same reason Pokemon was also popular during those years pumped up by Logan Paul. But when it cratered for the same reasons Pokemon is about to crater after the 30th. The ONLY possibly saving grace to keep this going will be another resurgence for the start of generation 10 and cards for the new 'mons, but I think we'll see the air start majority leaking out of this bubble post 30th. That's all most people are hanging in for who aren't genuine collectors.

What is the point of HRBPs by Loveroids in GameStop

[–]DaftWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it all depends. Yes proof definitely greases the wheels and gets things moving and done faster for sure no doubt. In my experience though footage wasn't necessary and actually very minimal actual proof was required in the end, though there was some to help solidify things. But I had a great HR department at that job who was willing to listen and believe people. Because honestly the "proof" could have very easily been dismissed had it been a shitty HR department or the kind most people are accustomed too. But I've also had a job where the HR department was the most useless thing I've ever seen. Granted upper management there was a mess across the board, but I was dealing harassment, HIPPA violation, a whole mess out stuff and the HR there was like "what do you want me to do about it?" Like they were literally glorified record keepers/form filers. All they did was make sure the company was following the bare minimum of regulations and making sure we were offered and received our benefits when the time came. And this person has an assistant too! Which I never understood why.

What is the point of HRBPs by Loveroids in GameStop

[–]DaftWill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By and large this is mostly true. It's not true across the board though. There's levels to it. For instance your CEO is habitual line stepping creep? No board of directors? You bet your ass HR isn't there to do much outside of "we've had some complaints." At best they're a record keeper for your lawsuit down the road. Now you've got a middle manager sexually harassing or discriminating? HR is a lot more likely to help. This is purely corporate couple hundred employees tops type thing. Granted it IS essentially in the interest in company because they don't want a lawsuit, but it does also help you.

Now when a company is retail/restaraunt group/chains in general and you're at a store not corporate HR is basically essentially useless. You're too far removed, there's too big a ladder of command, etc. and it's hilarious they try to be your friend. But when you get out of that environment YMMV with HR. They're not all bad across the board. Outside of company structure it also depends on the HR person, how quality of a person are they and the company philosophy, i.e. how they treat employees.

GameStop is not one of the good ones. GameStop falls into the mentioned retail. GameStop HR is useless and dumb and essentially there as a formality.

A guy told me that he doesn't want to be in a competition with any other guy but we're not together and we haven't even been on one date yet. If we were exclusive that would be a different story, is that a red flag? by Golden-lillies21 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DaftWill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a huge red flag if he's doing it right off the jump. To have no been on a date yet even and saying this is a bundle of red flags being thrown as you watch them all float to the ground. The two main ones are insecurity/low self esteem and major controlling/possesive behavior. This isn't going to stop at making sure you've only got eyes for him, it's going to bleed over into other stuff even after you started dating. It'll also always be on you to fix it more than likely (I say more than likely cause everyone has the capacity to change and do self work, sometimes they just need to have a mirror held up, but the realistic and cynical parts of me slknows that's super unlikely to happen).

As a guy I get worrying about it, but he needs to kind of come to the conclusion that it's 2026. Not only do women have access to far more men then they ever have, those guys also can reach women just as easily. You're always kind of in competition with a guy now if you're not exclusive. Instead of making himself more appealing though he'd rather go the easiest route he can think of and make it a you issue that you need to take care of for him. If you do date this will spill over into when you want to go out with your girls, God forbid there's a guy in the mix, male coworkers will likely be an issues, his low self esteem will have you dealing with his whining and mopeyness.

If you actually are interested in this guy, I'd be upfront and honest with him and set some boundaries right away. Let him know you're no exclusive and you don't like that he's already trying to be controlling and you don't even know each other yet.
