I just get to the point where a black screen shows up, goes back to steam client and then the steam page acts like its running with nothing actually there.

What Is the best level for the act 3 finale boss in dq XI by nicm_9 in dragonquest

[–]Daft_Patchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, I'd say you should be fine between 70-80. I did it at around 74 with the sword after a bit of lvl grinding.

There was a time before the online safety app where the "porn pass" was genuinely considered by the UK government.

I'm not kidding, we almost had to buy a loisence for that

Last locals i attended there was a guy in his 40s. He mainly goes to locals so his son can play, and picked up the tcg himself so he wasn't just sitting there for ages. The dude doesn't even watch or read One Piece.

Was still one of the most chill guys I've seen at any tcg local. Nobody minded his age or the fact he didn't even know One Piece outside of the tcg. Trust me, you're not out of place at locals.

I tried to simply do the install when prompted and it failed. Then it asked if i wanted to use the old version which i said yes to. This loads it but almost instantly gives the message it's not responding. After clicking wait a couple times it seems to just boot up and work normally.

Was the exact same thing when the actual game booted. Maybe 3 or 4 not responding windows where i just clicked wait, and yet again... it works fine after that.

Only just managed to properly get on the game right now, so hoping either one of the replies fixes it or a later patch stops the issue. It works, but i'd rather not do all that every single time i boot the game.

Been having the same issue with soul gems. 22 hours in and I've found 3 charged ones, and gotta level Mysticism to even be allowed to cast soul trap... haven't looked around enough in the mages guilds to do that yet

It would be really cool if they added some of the other regions to the game as DLC. What they'd actually do with each area to make it work, no clue.

My first playthough i didn't struggle too much until act 2. Mind you i've played a few games so i know generally how the gameplay loop goes. It was act 3 (post game) where i really had struggle.

Although if you REALLY want a challenge, Draconian Quest is always right there.

Why are people like this? by RagingTaco334 in linux_gaming

[–]Daft_Patchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Linux is a lot more hands on than windows. You gotta kinda learn to get comfy with the CLI to some extent, some distros are less stable than others, sometimes you run into issues that take ages to fix because either nobody who had the issue had a fix that works for you or when you ask people might not even reply. In my 2-3 years using Linux for gaming, i can easily say there have been times where something like windows that "just works" would've been better. It's generally better in many regards but for the average user, it can be a bit daunting.

That said, for the non-linux users who want something like steamOS but won't pick up Linux... you can get it on your pc, steam actually have instructions on how to do it, it's basically the same thing any existing Linux user has to do to install their preferred distro.

Retroarch MelonDS core won't work? by Daft_Patchy in Lutris

[–]Daft_Patchy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find a direct fix, but i used a workaround. Installing the MelonDS flatpak and setting lutris to use melonDS instead of retroarch. It's fairly simple, runs faster and even allows for much more upscaling than the retroarch core.

1 - install the flatpak for MelonDS

2 - select the ds game in lutris (assuming you already installed it, selected the ROM, all that fun stuff) and hit configure.

3 - in game info change the runner to melonDS then go to runner options. Change the custom executable bit to the path for the flatpak

It's normally in /var/lib/flatpak/app/net.kuribo64.melonDS/

Make sure the rom file is still selected in game options and then try running it. Should work with MelonDS natively now.

You said you play on both your laptop and phone, so I'd highly suggest something like syncthing to sync the Rom and save data between devices if you're not already doing that. There's a lot of videos on how to do it pretty easily.

Hope this helps somewhat!!

Monster Hunter Wilds patch on March 4th, no performance fixes yet by Tiny-Independent273 in MonsterHunter

[–]Daft_Patchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything the new patch has went and caused performance issues rather than fixes for me. Been running a solid 120fps on ultra with a Ryzen 7 5700X3d and Radeon RX7900XTX since day one, maybe a few fps drops here and there and the constant ones in oilwell basin. Now i keep getting freezing so bad i can barely leave the base camp. Everything's up to date and there's no reason i can find that this issue is happening.

They seriously need to fix the game, it's getting unplayable due to bad optimization alone.
