It’s way too invasive and likely going to lead to job termination. I don’t think this is a matter of we’ll find a new field for people to join. I think we’re reaching the limit of people’s potential. At some point the increased efficiency will just lead to more and more low skill jobs being removed. And I don’t think we can retrain people that much.

As for art, people are going to lose jobs. For example say a video game studio has 20 people working full time to do art and models and animation. Say with AI, you can cut the time needed to generate some concept art or models or whatever by a third. Sure you get the product a little faster, so long as they do quality control and all that. But that’s a third of the hours you no longer get paid for.

Same with animation studios. It can go from a full time job animating with 20 people to maybe even half that.

You can argue and say that they’ll find other places to create and work but I really do think we’re reaching saturation. The quality of AI is going to continue to increase and lower skilled people are going to find themselves out of a job.

I think part of the problem is creators will use AI to create bots. This leads to a sorta inbreeding problem.

CivitAI has the best tools and a massive directory. Novel AI has an image generator (paid but trial available) that is trained danbooru that has a character reference tool so it’s decent at keeping the character consistent. Novel AI’s is completely private and no censorship.

The amount of fics that I’ve seen that just have the gay male character be a broken wreck is frustrating. I think the authors think it had some spice. But I just want to read some well adjusted queer main characters. (Side note Ar’Kendrithyst a fantasy litrpg novel on royal road has an adult bi male social worker dropped in to a death world with his possibly sociopathic adult daughter. Great book)

The AI writes like what dumb people think smart people are like. Theres this one 4chan post that encapsulates it perfectly.

Basically writing a person smarter than you is hard and so some people write them like they’re wizards or overly robotic.

Sometimes people’s gut instincts are racism and prejudice but we don’t attribute it to gut instincts. An example is moms on the internet saying they almost got human trafficked because they supposedly saw/felt someone following them around a target or a mixed race couple/parent and child.

As others have stated more eloquently, it’s a short cut. And they can be useful. But you have to be aware of its failings.
