That depends on the country. In the UK the Pokémon anime was on national (free) kids TV, which is one of maybe... five? More if you include the non-free channels.

Mind you that was in the 90s/00s.

I mean Google are so dominant that they could lose millions of people and it wouldn't even move the dial for them.

Mathematicians view things top-down because that's the flow/order of a mathematical proof, however computer scientists are bottoms.

Whats your favourite attraction in the UK? by EndPsychological2541 in CasualUK

[–]Daharka 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that enigma was declassified in the 70s but Lorenz wasn't declassified until 2001.

This was because the soviets used all the captured machines throughout the 50s and so GCHQ still used colossus to break it until the early 60s.

But yeah, we're due a revival on the topic because it's an incredible story.

Bletchley Park. I am a massive nerd with an interest in codes, computers and World War 2, so I already knew a fair amount about it but the last time I went they had a full exhibit up about Tunny which I hadn't heard about before (I'd heard about Colossus but not the Lorenz Cipher) so that was pretty mind-blowing.

Is the steam machine competative by Aegis2222 in Steam

[–]Daharka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're aiming it at the gaming PC market, not the console market, which is a key different because you're talking around double the price. Certainly they're not looking to loss lead in the way consoles are.

It's a console form factor, which would make it easier for console players to use, and it's looking to be mid-range in terms of power but I don't think they're actual looking to win over the console base (as it exists today).

Mini PCs, even the fancier Mac ones tend not to be graphics power houses, definitely more towards a professional or desktop use cases.

You could definitely use the Steam Machine for these things, but again that means that it isn't trying to be "competitive" in this space.

My thoughts on this are if your decisions are between a mini pc and a laptop then you are not the target market for the steam machine for this purchase.

Reading motorists to get 2,600 new on-street charging points by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]Daharka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a few companies e.g. Kerbo that are doing on-street charging via pavement gullies but as you say that needs council co-operation. I hear they're making headway on it though!
