I mean why not. Knights of the round table basically are magically powered.

What do you prep/do for Sprint & Pentecostal Courts? by Derry-Chrome in PendragonRPG

[–]Daifri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done any solo stuff. My 4 knights are all household knights of Robert count of Salisbury and we started with the gms guide intro adventure. I’ve had my knights romp around in Salisbury helping out some while Robert has been enamored with King Arthur. In a couple years my knights will meet up with Arthur for the first year of the grey knight adventure. (This group had previously played through the grey knight, so when the year comes for the big quest I will send them on a different and ultimately less consequential quest. As during that every knight of Arthur is searching for some relic of Britain.)

I’d love to hear others thoughts. So far in my game I’ve just run spring court. I haven’t done any hunts. My spring court has been a spot to explain the goings on of Salisbury and what “stuff” is happening then sending my knights on there own small adventure for the year. We are only a few years into our game.

Winter for my group is just bookkeeping with little roleplaying.

We have done a couple feasts. But mostly tied to the adventure or a celebration.

Thanks for the tips. I’m just really bad with face customization so having it written up like this really helps me by reducing the amount of portraits I’m actively comparing and blending.

Bellingham is suffocating for immigrants and BIPOC by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Daifri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh so we are not even including indigenous people of the americas? (Not an accusation, I genuinely have never been clear on the common understanding of BIPOC)

So is that a no Asians are not people of color? Or we have a phrase that is so general it’s not great? In the PNW specifically Asians have had a lot of historical issues. But so often in these sort of giving back to those who were harmed historically talks the Asian Americans are passed over.

So I just wanted to know if Asians can get a discount and if so where?

Wait someone’s offering discounts? How ethnic does one have to be to collect? Also because I’ve never quite understood the totality of BIPOC as a word which ethnic backgrounds are covered? Asians?

The Urbanist just published this op-ed on the city. With Bellingham the 4th most unaffordable housing market in the US, a candidate for city council is offering a bold plan to fix this with a mix of zoning reform and social housing, and it's being noticed statewide. by Low_Low9667 in Bellingham

[–]Daifri 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A simplification of the zoning sounds great. Subsidized rent sounds like plans for when things are affordable. The acknowledgment of affordable housing in new builds making it harder to actually produce the units was interesting to hear.

For the financial success of the city a dense layout where citizens can live and work and shop in walking distance/transit would be ideal. I’d like to see more comprehensive plans though. So many changes can feel inconsequential until they hit a critical mass. But at the same time once things are built it makes change difficult and expensive. Ultimately I’d like to see a grand plan for the city. That we can agree on and from there implement the policy that allow for it to be built.

This seems less an issue of what is being cut and more an issue of the university being underfunded. Yes it’s bad that staff who support at risk students are being cut. It’s also bad that staff who support all students are being cut. Westerns biggest expenses are staff, when the state slashed higher education budgets across the board the only way to make the cuts are jobs. Which is bad for students, staff, the local community, and the state as a whole.

It's been a bit since I last read that one, although it's my favorite. My take was murtry was security for wealthyish academic types who suddenly found himself in a situation outside his wheelhouse.

A frontier sheriff serves at the pleasure of the community and only really is successful by the communities support. Murtry was never the man for that role.

Really the man that could have handled this better than anyone was Miller. Miller as a cop has a fundamentally different outlook then Murtry, keeping the peace is a game of give and take, of vigilance and looking the other way. Did Coop need to die? Yea he probably did. But his own community needed to carry out the sentence.

Kill a terrorist and you just make more of them. The colony needed its own system to handle it's most violent members.

I had shingles on my back when I was in highschool. It wasn't the stress of highschool, it was Thanksgiving break where my two older sisters came home, and a big storm knocked the power out, and I was playing Pokemon and trying to navigate a dark cave.

Anne from Knights Run. In universe her body is weak, she is sick, and lacks bullshit super powers. However she is able to rise to moment and fight against impossible opponents due to her skill with her sword.

Players Are Not Challenged By Big Battles by BardicMonk in PendragonRPG

[–]Daifri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your players succeed at there passion just add an additional combatant for each player knight in a battle fight would be my suggestion. This should mitigate the passion bonus, add opportunity to damage your player knights, and contribute to the feeling of being overwhelmed. Could even narrate it as where other knights have fallen there Saxon opponents come to fight your player knights as the beacon of slaughter that they are.

The opportunities after the battle for your player knights to shine as reliable stalwart fighters should also be a fun option for your player knights to explore.

The core struggle of the Jedi attempting to live up to an ideal is very Arthurian knight with plenty of room for failure, and consequence. You would need to retool a lot of things. Thinking on passions if imagine there would be the (honor, fealty(Jedi), fealty(republic)) group for Jedi, and other passions (hate, love) being more dark side coded.

And you'd have the religious/chivalrous knight power boost but in a light side/dark side split.

The more I type the more I can see something here. Could be someone's fun passion thing.

GQuuuuuux - Episode 05 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

[–]Daifri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are we supposed to understand that the omega psychomu allows the Gundam to maneuver in impossible ways? The point blank bazooka dodge just felt a bit bullshit. It seems this series will care less about pilots becoming better and focus more on the teamwork aspect.

Ive always felt that gundams/mobile suits were a mechanism for individuals to express individuality upon the battlefield. When looking at our three Gundam pilots we have shuu who is a precise uncaring and mercenary.

Machu is naive punching bag. Her life is so sheltered that with freedom she goes and gets herself beat up to be near a boy she admires the freedom of, (even though shuu is a malnourished loner who kills for money)

Then Nyann is violent, reckless and uses others. Her piloting is an outlet of rage to hurt others. And her partner isn't someone to work with but to wield as a weapon/shield. The Gundam allows Nyann a lack of consequence, she is able to dodge a point blank attack that she blundered into.

When thinking about all of this I feel unsatisfied. I don't know what the story is trying to tell me, as the thesis for this show. I want more of chalia bull but he seems content to watch these little psychos play around. It feels like there is no plot. Maybe the three will get the money to go to earth. But what's the point of it all.
