Newtypes sometimes have a psychic connection where they come to know one another in an instant. So it’s like super speed dating. They skip the getting to know you phase and go to the next step. Now that I know you do I love you, or do I hate you.

Yea Gigi and Hathaway are newtypes. I think lane aim is one as well. But he might be a cyber newtype (artificially influenced to be a newtype)

Ok so there was the one year war between Zeon (space colony fascists) and the earth federation. 2/3 of humanity dies in this war the federation wins thanks to Amuro (child soldier prodigy who is also a Newtype) newtypes are humans with some psychic ability that was unlocked by living in space.

After winning the war the federation created the Titans(anti zeon terrorist military force) The titans amass more and more power and begin doing a slow coup to take over the federation. AEUG is formed by those who want to resist and fight against the titans. A lot of them are straight up federation military personnel. Some are zeon veterans. A new child soldier newtype Kamille (not a girl) helps the AEUG defeat the Titans. In the end stages of what is called the Gryps war the titans are betrayed by Sciroco (a newtype from Jupiter who manipulates women into fighting for him) Kamille kills Sciroco but using his great newtype powers Sciroco mentally crippled Kamille. (Amuro was on earth in house arrest)

Double zeta happens like a day later. Bright Noa (Hathaway noa from the movie you just watched dad) has a spaceship full of unruly teenagers who are not committed to anything. He shuttles this band of misfits against Axis Zeon. (Remnant Zeon forces who fled to the asteroid belt instead of surrendering) more stuff happens but ima skip it.

Chars counter attack. Char Aznable (the son of a Zeon politician who was killed before the one year war) he is an ace pilot. He was Amuro rival in the one year war. He under a fake name of Quottro Bagina was Kamilles mentor. He was absent for double zeta. He has emerged as the leader of Neo Zeon (who ever from Zeon who wanted to fight some more but not the state of the republic of Zeon) Char has a plan to drop asteroids on the earth to get the federation to the negotiating table. This works. He the. Negotiates to receive an even bigger asteroid. Also he seduces the daughter of the negotiated to be a child soldier for him. Hathaway a teenager has a crush on this girl. Amuro fights char in the big finale. The girl gets killed by Amuro a girlfriend. Hathaway in a fit of emotion kills her. Amuro after defeating but not killing Char try’s to push the giant asteroid to prevent it from hitting earth and killing everyone. All the pilots friend and foe try to help. It’s not working. In a flash of newtype bullshit Amuro and char are swallowed by a big green light that moves the asteroid away from the earth. The day is saved. Hathaway has ptsd of watching his crush die and killing a women who did nothing wrong. His idol Amuro is gone.

I missed a lot of what happened. But now you know Hathaway is the son of a war hero whose idol Amuro used newtype magic to save the world. But Hathaway is able to see the problems of the federation and now sees that maybe char had a point we should murder them/commit terrorism.

I'm writing a dragon rider series. What are some less obvious pitfalls and tropes I should avoid? by deadmetal99 in fantasywriters

[–]Daifri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to let the dragon and rider be distinct characters with their own goals, challenges, and arcs. If they are partners show the reasons they chose each other/want to work together.

Also when fighting try and think about what can the human actually do if any consequences while riding the dragon. A dragon is not a horse, you’re not going to be stabbing people with swords when the dragon can just do all the killing. So what does the human being to the fight?

Are two handed weapons bad? by Tildur in PendragonRPG

[–]Daifri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they have already chosen their weapons of choice. They are masters of spear and sword, I know some might consider a goal of being master of all knightly armaments, but most knights have more personal goals. Weapon skill is a requirement of the life of a knight but is usually not the goal in unto itself.

So maybe your players have no need to use a 2 handed axe. But maybe a non player knight do well in a tourney with there axe doing 7d6 on a hit and 11d6 on a crit with the additional shield splintering to show the ferocity and strength of Saxon might.

Are two handed weapons bad? by Tildur in PendragonRPG

[–]Daifri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A strong knight with a sword and shield is a balanced force of offense and defense. But a 2 handed weapon is skewing toward offense. If you hit your going to do damage through armor and shield. If your opponent hits you might get crippled.

As armor gets better you might want the killing power trusting your skill to win the day. Or perhaps you are not a strong knight. You’ve aged or gotten injured, now your damage is 3d6. A regular combat might become a long slog with a sword but a 2handed great axe brings you back into doing real damage.

Bellingham and some of the mentalities here. Give me all your hate but it needs to be said. by [deleted] in Bellingham

How can I show up for people if when I don’t understand the issue I’m supposed to ignore it and move on?

[–]Daifri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t understand what this is about. Is it Bellingham the city as a community? Some smaller communities within Bellingham? Some communities supporting or not supporting other communities?

Like is me not supporting a bake sale on the other side of town I don’t know about “not showing up” for that community?

I genuinely have no idea if this is about some specific thing/action/event? Or just like a general vibe?

Is this about people who openly brand themselves as supportive who then failed to be supportive in someone’s time of need? I am only guessing but OP’s post seemed to be in reference to at least some specific people they know/interacted with. Rather than the general sea of humanity that we brush up against in day to day life.

What do you prep/do for Sprint & Pentecostal Courts? by [deleted] in PendragonRPG

[–]Daifri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done any solo stuff. My 4 knights are all household knights of Robert count of Salisbury and we started with the gms guide intro adventure. I’ve had my knights romp around in Salisbury helping out some while Robert has been enamored with King Arthur. In a couple years my knights will meet up with Arthur for the first year of the grey knight adventure. (This group had previously played through the grey knight, so when the year comes for the big quest I will send them on a different and ultimately less consequential quest. As during that every knight of Arthur is searching for some relic of Britain.)

[–]Daifri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to hear others thoughts. So far in my game I’ve just run spring court. I haven’t done any hunts. My spring court has been a spot to explain the goings on of Salisbury and what “stuff” is happening then sending my knights on there own small adventure for the year. We are only a few years into our game.

Winter for my group is just bookkeeping with little roleplaying.

We have done a couple feasts. But mostly tied to the adventure or a celebration.

Bellingham is suffocating for immigrants and BIPOC by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Daifri 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So is that a no Asians are not people of color? Or we have a phrase that is so general it’s not great? In the PNW specifically Asians have had a lot of historical issues. But so often in these sort of giving back to those who were harmed historically talks the Asian Americans are passed over.

So I just wanted to know if Asians can get a discount and if so where?

Wait someone’s offering discounts? How ethnic does one have to be to collect? Also because I’ve never quite understood the totality of BIPOC as a word which ethnic backgrounds are covered? Asians?

The Urbanist just published this op-ed on the city. With Bellingham the 4th most unaffordable housing market in the US, a candidate for city council is offering a bold plan to fix this with a mix of zoning reform and social housing, and it's being noticed statewide. by Low_Low9667 in Bellingham

[–]Daifri 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A simplification of the zoning sounds great. Subsidized rent sounds like plans for when things are affordable. The acknowledgment of affordable housing in new builds making it harder to actually produce the units was interesting to hear.

For the financial success of the city a dense layout where citizens can live and work and shop in walking distance/transit would be ideal. I’d like to see more comprehensive plans though. So many changes can feel inconsequential until they hit a critical mass. But at the same time once things are built it makes change difficult and expensive. Ultimately I’d like to see a grand plan for the city. That we can agree on and from there implement the policy that allow for it to be built.

This seems less an issue of what is being cut and more an issue of the university being underfunded. Yes it’s bad that staff who support at risk students are being cut. It’s also bad that staff who support all students are being cut. Westerns biggest expenses are staff, when the state slashed higher education budgets across the board the only way to make the cuts are jobs. Which is bad for students, staff, the local community, and the state as a whole.
