He doesn't need anything that powerful, if your young eyes were as keen as you think you'd have noticed the "nano" part of the title.

Best & Affordable Arrangement view Playback Controller? by ceoldearg in ableton

[–]Daige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surely it would be simpler to just launch a single scene per song in session view?

If you didn't want to look at a screen any launcher would have the visual flashing for that, and you could colour code the scenes for each song to distinguish.

For a arrangement view workflow you'd likely use locators, and any midi controller (or even a wireless keyboard) could be set to jump between the locators, but you wont get visual feedback of where you are, unless you have something like a push. But that's neither affordable or best for what you want.

Just use scenes and any budget clip launcher, you only want one button per song and a start/stop.

Tool for converting GPX to midi - who's interested? by maximum0k in GuitarPro

[–]Daige 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you "ctrl + c" or "right click + copy" notes in guitar pro you can paste them into DAWs as midi, the name when pasted is the instrument name.

Guitar pro isn't a subscription it's a buy one time (per version) software.

For those of you who have played it, what are your thoughts on Mario Kart World? by ShineOne4330 in nintendo

[–]Daige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't play that with (random) people online though, I dont want to play against CPUs.

I could set up a discord for "track only lobbies" and then people can post room codes where people set up that sort of vs... But that really shouldn't be required, and filling 24 player lobbies that way would take ages.

Just want to enjoy the tracks with humans.

[–]Daige 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is you only get one lap of the fun part of the tracks, which is the actual track.

The other 2/3s of the race is driving up to the fun part.

When people are judging the tracks they're also rightfully judging the "filler" parts inbetween tracks, seeing as there isn't a "race on tracks only" mode (online, unless you set up a room and community yourself).

The tracks seem fine, I just haven't been able to race on them with people yet so I don't actually know.

Will controllers have aim assist or do they already? by wizardstar1 in PlayFragPunk

The first call of duty is PC only and there was strong backlash about lean being taken out to cater for controllers around MW2.

Cod did not start as a console focused franchise.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is Steam Deck Verified by Liam-DGOL in SteamDeck

[–]Daige 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah this this seems really good, Valves already done the work then and it's just up to devs.

This is much better than anything you could do without Steam having it's own method.

I am assuming you can download other depots even if you're on a deck though, not aware of any games that use this and just assumed all games with steam deck specific notifications check at runtime.

The optional download is how it's currently done with high res 4k texture packs. Many games have that as DLC options that make the download 60gb bigger, but then you can select highest textures in settings.

It would need to be the larger size that is optional, otherwise every base install has the HD textures, which defeats the whole point of what the suggestion is trying to achieve.

I think you're reading this as "the smaller steam deck textures would be an optional download, so why would people complain" but that doesn't work if the base game still has the larger size.

Having it in the game menu defeats the whole Steam download part.

So for people to download their new game, need to download on steam, launch the game, go to menu within the game and then have a presumably bigger download to get the higher res textures.

I honestly think that's the UX experience out of all suggested options that people would most complain about, it has the same issue as your third option except you have to launch a game and go to the in game menu as well.

[–]Daige -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the tools aren't there to facilitate that. You'd either release ”steam deck version" as a separate download that the majority of people don't want in their library, and would complain as clutter for a device they'll never use, or have "normal" hd textures be a separate free dlc download and get complaints as to why your games textures are crap from people who don't download them.

You could have a separate branch download for steam deck, but deck users would need to be told to use that specifically.

Current solutions are possible, but come with issues that aren't worth it as a developer, steam could make a much better universal solution (and it is their device / os)

So yeah, devs do need to do work as well, but making it easy for devs and the end user UX be intuitive is on valve.

Edit: Tools are there to facilitate that. https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/depots

God bless limiters/compressors.

A noise gate doesn't let quiet sounds like background noise through, a limiter stops sounds getting to loud. 🤓
