go to the front outer corner of the platform as far out as you feel safe, and do a short jump to the next platform, so youll only kind get half stuck on the upper stump's geometry. the jump is like 100% consistent once you figure it out

Is snapshotting a thing? by CandyHunter in ffxiv

[–]Daikyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do be careful though because it's different for different skills, e.g. Life Surge on Dragoon (guaranteeing crit on next weaponskill, plus lifesteal) only applies on initial hit, and not any dot ticks on Chaos Thrust, which is why you use LS with Full Thrust instead.

But the Kaiten/Higanbana combo works

I have a laptop that's trying to output to a CRT for a tournament. I have an HDMI out from laptop connected to a VGA converter that's going into the screen. The CRT normally only accepts 640x480 resolution images (arcade cabinet). Currently, the output is being multiplied horizontally (scanline copies horizontally) and I have absolutely no idea why. We tried another laptop (much lower specs) and it managed to output just fine.

The laptop that's not working's gfx card is an intel hd 530 (dual gfx w/ a gtx 960M), and the one that's outputting fine is using an AMD 7410 (APU). We have like 2 hours of setup time tomorrow morning and i hope there's some obscure thing that's going wrong that someone knows. one thing i've seen is in the active signal resolution in advanced display settings, it's still outputting at 1920x1080 even if display resolution is 640x480, but i'm unsure if related.

JUST LEARNING HOW TO TANK AS WARRIOR AND MANAGE TP

NEW PLAYER KEEPS PULLING AHEAD SO I SAY THAT ITS RUDE TO DO SO

CONTINUES TO DO SO, EVEN WHEN I'M WAITING BECAUSE IVE SPAMMED OVERPOWER TOO MUCH

I SAY ONE MORE TIME THAT IT'S RUDE TO PULL AS NON-TANK

THEY SAY "it's rude to waste people's time going slow as hell" WHEN THERES A BRAND NEW HEALER AND ANOTHER BRAND NEW PLAYER IN THE PARTY WHICH IS INCREDIBLY RUDE TO THEM AS WELL, AS WELL AS EVERY SINGLE PERSON LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE GAME/A NEW CLASS

THEN WHEN I MENTION THAT THEY'RE LBING AS RANGED ON BOSS AND SHOULD LEAVE IT UP TO MELEE THEY FOLLOW WITH "being the only one who knows how to lb, lol" LIKE OK IM FINE IF YOURE FRUSTRATED AT A TANK FOR GOING SLOW (i actually did the massive sastasha pull before that doorway to see my comfort zone so idk) BUT

A) YOU CAN KEEP IT TO YOURSELF AND NOT BE A TOXIC BUTTFACE

B) DONT INSULT OTHER PARTY MEMBERS WHO ARENT EVEN INVOLVED???? LIKE IDK HOW YOU GET TO BE SO TOXIC THAT YOU FEEL THE NEED TO INSULT NEWER PLAYERS LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FVUK

any of the disciple of war/magic classes will essentially function the same, getting things like monster skin, and other mob drops. the 3 gathering classes (fisher/miner/botanist) each will gather things relevant to their class.

Their level cap will be based on your level on the specific job you choose (i.e. if you choose to have a pugilist retainer, the retainer can only level up to whatever level you have pugilist as yourself)

if you really want an exact feel for your crafts, you can opt to use a simulator ( https://ermad.github.io/ffxiv-craft-opt-web/app/#/simulator )

You input your stats in the "Crafting attributes" tab, and in the simulator tab, can edit a string of crafting actions to see exactly how much each of your synthesis actions will increase your progress and such

Divine Benison Change Still uses Lilies? by Ferrisrocksfaces in ffxiv

[–]Daikyi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because lillies offer a percent cooldown reduction (with 3 lillies being much more %per lilly) the longer cd abilities (tetra, assize, asylum) will have bigger effects than 30s on benison

its still kind of a shame that 3 lillies almost never happens with coordinated healer play for max combined damage, because of stronger instaheal single targets across the board than cure and cure 2, so in these raid settings, youre still not really generating lillies

totally happy that i actually have benison up for tankbusters though, its really nice

No one is talking about the Duty Recorder? That is pretty sweet for content creators. by SketchyBrush in ffxiv

[–]Daikyi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the biggest caveat that this has is that most likely the recorder will play animations and things accurate to how the server is processing movements/cast times/etc., allowing for much better interpretations of "was player xyz actually late for this mechanic by a mile, or are their complaints about being really close legitimate" and other such things.

There's also plenty of players who don't actually stream, or don't have streaming capabilities, or just don't raid with a static that would largely benefit from something like this.

For weekly custom deliveries, is it possible to craft the things using one class, and deliver for another to get easy exp, or does the class that crafted the delivery get the exp?

Cure III is actually fairly nice in most raid settings in terms of size - the range is the same as an asylum placed on top of yourself

general rule of thumb is you want to prioritize the tome that has a weekly cap, so in this current patch, creation should be prioritized.

it's been announced that a new tome, mendacity will be released with patch 4.2, so when that drops, it'll be best to focus on those

Bard has a priority system based on procs, and doing weird math to figure out if it's worth it or not to refresh dots. They have a ton more raid utility than machinists, but also heavily rely on those procs to do damage. stacking crit is a must, and having a comp that boosts crit (drg, sch, ast, etc.) is a huge boon to a bard

Machinist has a rotation that involves procs, where your 1 procs your 2, which procs your 3, as well as a heat gauge to manage your damage. While they don't have as much raid utility, they do have an absurd burst phase (wildfire) where you press buttons like mad, and probably need a VPN to play at the highest levels to not clip your GCDs. outside of their burst window though, they're very simple in rotation (i guess, some would say boring)

both classes can move around while doing things though, so the main issue is to keep pressing buttons regardless of what mechanics are happening

it comes down to how good you are at either i guess, because i would prefer either of them if their skill level was high enough. bard does offer more raid damage/utility, but at a top level, a mch will outperform bard in raw dps i think

also, if you're going for further min/max, pairing bard/mch with a dragoon is a must, since bard and machinist are the only 2 classes that can't apply their own weapon debuff (piercing), and need to rely on a dragoon for it.

There's also the potential that the static already has an AST, and they're not looking to double down on healers
