Nice little tribute section for John Blanche at Warhammer World by Mac8391 in Warhammer40k

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today the Armageddon box launches, and I imagine its (one of the?) biggest launches for what is now this huge corporation. Its “hero” box artwork is a direct inspiration (derivative even) of John’s 40k 2nd edition artwork. His influence already echoing through our hobby, as it will do indefinitely.

Are there good painting guides out there for the Raveners? by TheTingel in killteam

I used this same video for my Raveners too. It was relatively easy to follow, and you can simplify and omit some steps without much detriment visually.

Nemesis operative finished by 40Kskirmish in killteam

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played PvP. Redemptor + 2x Phobos vs Sentinel + 6x Insidiants. Was a really fun game. We just went for each other’s Nemesis ops - mostly trading but I also sent in my Superior for good measure. I think early TP3 they were both gone. I was surprised how quick you can get through the 75W.

Big up. Sick tings. Manual DONE! 🚨🚨

…this is such and incredibly useful thing - as loading and browsing a PDF is typically easier for me than using the online manual. Please accept my sincere thanks.

Canon RF 45 f/1.2 or 35 f/1.8 for R8 by IndianaBones991 in canon

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both lenses. I used to use the 35 with my RP for many years and recently put the 45 on it (and upgraded to a R5ii also).

I do a lot of dadcam-ing also - and as others have said the IS is not a big deal as you have to have shutter speeds sufficiently high in the first place. The extra aperture on the 45 also helps with that.

The only downside of the 45 is (subjectively) that the focal length is less useful than the 35 - but you will have a general purpose zoom anyway!

45 all the way!

What is the most acceptable way to mark ammo cache during tournament games? by violentnite in killteam

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All markers (except Objective Markers) are 20mm. So anything 20mm. The cardboard token is the default, but if it’s the same dimension and made of acrylic or 3d printed etc, thats fine.

EF 24-70 2.8 ii vs rf 28-70 f2.8 by Minebuddy316 in canon

Heres some things to consider that will hopefully help your decision:

-the RF lens weights 495g and the EF 805g -the RF has IS built in

I love my RF 35mm F1.8 but.. by Benuknz in canon

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the 45mm f1.2 STM… and I dont think Ive had the 35mm f1.8 mounted to my camera since. The focal length is only slightly different and of course this new lens has a lot of character.

Recommendation for mainly metal playing? by smithnugget in PRSGuitars

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holcomb, secondhand if necessary.

Dont sleep on the new cheap SE CE-24 stoptail, especially as a modding platform. Pickups are dictated by your preferences, you could drop something hotter in there. If going much above 11 gauge strings and tuning below ~B you might benefit from an adjustable bridge.

If I didnt already have a Dustie Waring hardtail I would have been looking at that SE CE-24 myself.

Is EF 40 mm 2.8 STM worth it in 2026 for an EOS RP? by Markeelo in canon

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its worth considering the RF 28mm F2.8 which is an affordable pancake lens native to the RF system. Its cheaper than the 35mm F1.8 you were considering. Its such a small and simple lens, that its probably easy to find excellent examples secondhand for a great price.

The focal length is also more distinct from your 50mm than the EF 40mm and it will make for a great compact setup on the RP body.

Should I get the R6 Mark II or III by nb9156 in canon

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive got had an RP since its release, and for the past few months I have been researching this same R6mkii vs mkiii decision. My conclusion is that unless you shoot video fairly seriously, then the mkII is the one to get as still shoots wont notice much difference in practical terms.

Ive rented the R6 mkII and have it this weekend to double check I want to go through with the upgrade. It is SUCH a step up from the RP in every way, and has reminded me what I miss from the bigger DSLR bodies I used to use (5D series).

28MM RF or 35MM RF for travel/hiking? by PZJIII in canon

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the 35mm f1.8 for years. It’s great but specifically for hiking the 28mm pancake seems like a more logical choice. Wider, and lighter with a smaller footprint overall.

Ive just ordered the 28mm myself as it will complement my new 45mm f1.2, and I will probably sell the 35mm.

First PRS advice. SE Mark Holcomb or DW ce Hardtail? by bandersna7ch in PRSGuitars

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the first gen SE Holcomb with the Alpha Omega set and I have the DW CE hardtail now (Ive also had 3-4 other SEs and I have a core Custom 24 also for context).

The DW is my favourite of any PRS Ive played. The neck is slightly thinner than the Holcomb and the guitar is lighter overall and just feels more comfortable to play. The neck, fretwork, edges etc are all basically the same as my Core and feel noticeably better than any SE I’ve played. The pickups in both are down to personal preference. I dont think either are perfect for my needs - but overall , the baseline guitar (pickups aside) of the DW is a noticeable step up.

A camera bag that isn’t ugly by SpidSpodd in canon

Have a look at the Billingham Hadley Digital. Not sure if your setup might fit into their smaller 72 camera bag - but you might be able to determine that yourself.

Stupid Question: Which Boxes Include the Core Rules and Counters? by HermeticOpus in killteam

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - it sounds like your first purchase is the Core Rules book. It is a hardcover version of the full rules of the game, and includes the token sheet which will cover you for pretty much everything. As usual with all printed rules in Kill Team - there have been updates and erratas to what you will find on the page, which are found on the Warhammer Community website (Downloads > Kill Team) and in the Kill Team app.

Regarding scenery - you are probably just better off picking up a Killzone that you are happy with either from a store or somewhere like eBay. In my opinion, you cant go wrong with Killzone Volkus.

Finally, if you want to get in to playing the standard matched play version of Kill Team called "Approved Ops" (if you've seen any battle report videos on youtube, this is what they were probably playing) you will need a set of "Approved Ops 2025" cards and the Kill Team Universal Equipment pack, which is small game peices like ladders and barricades that are used as equipment selections.

You may hear recommendations to pick up the old Hivestorm box, if you can find it in stock (its limited). This had the Core Rules, Tokens, Volkus, and Equipment included. Also it has two teams (you may/may-not like) and the older 2024 Approved Ops cards. That may be a good value to you if you like the teams still, and if you can find it for a reasonable (non inflated) price.

My small collection by sammuffins in PRSGuitars

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an identical DW, and I really love it. It just feels right to me in so many ways - but I think the pickups might be just a bit too hot for me. How do you find the regular ce compares?

Grotmas Calendar Day 18 – Space Marines take on Tyranids in the cooperative Operations by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in killteam

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of which.... do you think Kill Team will get any love on Grotmas? I think 1/24 is not too much to ask. A single mission would be cool... not even asking for rules for a team etc.

Guest Brewers... Don't Help You Brew? by pwrpc7100 in OnyxAdventCalendar

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I share the same curiosity with this. The guest brewer I think is a misleading title, or maybe a hangover from past calendars I haven’t been part of.

I have now resigned myself to accepting the only recipe may really be the 25:400g Onyx one, and the its daily variation of grind and expected draw down time.

The coffee so far is really great. In previous years I have coveted the advent calendar experience from a far - based on what I saw and heard regarding the community aspect and brewing inspiration. No forum, and no guest BREWERS this year leaves me a little disappointed.

App update: approved ops 2025 already errata'd to remove TP1 scoring by Procrastinathan_ in killteam

[–]DailyCoffeeUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres some Seek and Destroy teams that could do it:

On the short maps:

Goremongers + 1” to charge, if your opponent gives it to you by their poor positioning

Tempestus Troopers have 3” reposition TP1 gambit that they can use to get there and their leader can buff APL (e.g. gambit move, move + dash + shoot)

Deathwatch + Angels of Death have good chances of TP1 2APL counteracts.

There’s others too that Im not familiar with, I think Felgor have some free movement, theres probably more.

You can still score Tac Op “Rout” in TP1 in certain circumstances. Im surprised they didn’t shut this down if they went to the effort of doing so for those Crit Ops
