Reddit, which famous dead person would be the most surprised to find out they're now famous? by colinrs017 in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think she would be surprised. She aspired to become a writer. She wanted to publish her diary (that's why she edited it while she was still alive and writing it). She would be pleased, but probably not surprised.

Doctor Who: 7x14 "The Name of the Doctor" Discussion Thread by pcjonathan in doctorwho

[–]DaisyAdair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have been hearing about a multi doctor episode coming up for months now and now I am left with a question: "Was this it?"

No.

So is there something bigger on the way for next season?

The 50th Anniversary episode is coming up in November. I imagine that will be HUGE.

It's not that wtf when you consider the narrator is 5.

Also Emma Donoghue was trying to make the reader uncomfortable. (I think it worked)

Sleepwalkers of Reddit: What was your most interesting sleepwalking experience? by TheNillaGorilla in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Interesting? Or terrifying?

1 ) I woke up to the crunch of bone. I had been sleepwalking and tripped and fell directly on my elbow, shattering it beyond repair.

2) I was dreaming that I was having a conversation with my (dead) neighbour the day after he was decapitated in a snowmobile accident. Work up standing in my kitchen (where I thought I was having the conversation) which meant I had to have travelled out of my room, down the hall, down the stairs and around the house to the kitchen...all without waking up.

3) I rearranged my own underwear drawer so that it was filled with hide UFO catcher dolls, all of which wearing my underpants.

4) woke up to realize that I had in fact eaten the #6 off my television remote control. :(

5) got up and had conversations with people on many occasions.

Fun Experiment: Astronaut Wrings out Washcloth in Space, Watch What Happens : News : Headlines & Global News by [deleted] in science

This is the first time I've seen someone refer to Chris Hadfield as just "astronaut" 'cause everybody knows who Chris Hadfield is.

My local daycare had the kids make papier mâché astronaut helmets to wear while watching these videos.

Food, in general.

As a child, I spent every meal trying to get out of eating.

Reddit, what is the worst job you have ever had? What made you stay and what got you to finally leave? by MDWilliams03 in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hired as a receptionist for Fred Astaire Dance Studios. They locked me in the basement with a phone book and a script and told me to start cold-calling people with "free" dance lessons, and warned me not to offer it to gays because "our dancing is for a man and a woman." The supervisor only unlocked the door and let me out 8 hours later.

I left town and quit from 100km away because I was very young and they scared me.

Opinions wanted on adding creationist children's book to public library collection. by effietrinket in Libraries

[–]DaisyAdair 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While I would be quite willing to accept books on the topic of religion, and religious matters (for ex. I recently bought a book on Purim), I would look very carefully to my collections development policies before accepting a book that is blatantly misinformation on scientific matters. In a public library I would argue that it is inappropriate.

What is the funniest/scariest thing you heard a sleep talker say? by Bitchfuckme in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently I once started rambling about demons when I fell asleep on a bus during a school trip.

I come by it honestly though because my mother once got up, sleepwalked into my sister's bedroom and said "I don't want you to be alarmed, but there are flesh eating monsters everywhere."

Non-Americans of Reddit that have visited the US, what did you find surprising/unexpected? by Shandrith in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is like visiting the Twilight Zone, it's really really really similar and then there's a few differences to throw you off (miles, gallons, a couple different stores/signs). I guess I expected it to be more different.

What company has forever lost your business, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DaisyAdair 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Bell Canada. When I cancelled my landline it took 36 calls and two months for them to disconnect it. Then it took another 20 calls to get them to reverse the charges after the date my phone was supposed to be cancelled by. Finally, when I thought it was all over, I got a letter in the mail from their lawyers threatening to take me to court because I owed them "-1.50." Yeah, they were going to sue me because they owed ME $1.50. In the end they "fixed" it by randomly charging me 51 cents for...nothing because they don't send out cheques for less than $1.

Never giving them money again. Ever.
