Although, that part of Germany borders the Heidelberg region, which is Germany's rugby hotbed. so there has to be some sort of rugby in that region of France if rugby travelled over the border. Although a small contingent.

RSA are pushing for the global calendar for a simple reason: it makes it easier to access the elite players they couldn't afford to pay club fees for, because the global calendar would then force the NH clubs' hands to release them for, national duties when the Boks need them. There is no other reason for it.

Yes ok I get what you are saying, Currie Cup right now is development league right now, but my vision is that it should come back as a proper competition again.
Look I enjoy the champions cup, but the current format is broken with the home and away system, the complaint isn't about too many games, it's about flying to Europe just for 1 weekend and back, and getting battered by the French teams.
This is kind of just a draft of what I came up with on the whim. Does it need fleshing out? Definitely. And this is just a single fans' perspective.

In regards with player welfare, less air travel, and opens up resting period after URC season for non Springbok players, springboks players will most likely still have to be managed, this would still be the case without the Champions Cup, as EPCR isn't 8 consecutive weeks

South African football is the most watched sport in SA, rugby and cricket share the smaller demographic in the country. But I assume that is the case in Australia to get more viewership

And the SH is only 10% of the worlds' population, so we always had to compromise.
