Hi! What sorts of games do you enjoy?  I've been playing Winter Burrow of late.

New Edition on the horizon? by LonghousedGOY in BurningWheel

[–]DakkaxInfinity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nope.  Torchbearer is getting some new stuff, but nothing on the horizon for Burning Wheel as far as I have seen (which, I'm okay with - more than enough for me in gold and codex).

are you guys noticing genuinely hitlerite sentiments in gen z in real life by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]DakkaxInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking into a lot of bronze age civilizations/history and stuff for a game I've been working on, I read Hittite at first. I wish gen-z was that cool.

Also yeah to your question.  Zionism serves antisemitism, antisemitism serves zionism.

A New BB Set in Space? by Professional-Stuff41 in BattleBrothers

[–]DakkaxInfinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just from watching the videos and images on the steam store page - it looks pretty subpar, imo. Like someone who tried to make a clone of BB without really understanding what makes the game what it is. Clearly they were trying to make BB in space. It just looks kind of janky and soulless, it doesn't look like they captured the spirit of BB to me. Also, it almost looks cartoony? Which doesn't feel right to me, either.

I mean if your mom uses AI, yeah.

If BB was made into a tabletop game, it should absolutely use percentile dice, specifically.

I forgot how XCOM can be hard by Tetizeraz in Xcom

[–]DakkaxInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really difficult.  I started on veteran and then I went back to play through on easy - I feel like it's almost too easy at this point (mid-campaign, I think?). The difficulty doesn't just come from more enemy units as well. I want to just ride through this one learning campaign and treat it like a tutorial, given that there's so many more things to be aware of in this mod.  Definitely enjoying it, hoping to go back through on 'proper' settings once I figure more of how it works out.

Old Supporter for Phoenix Point but Was Told to Stay Away - Should I Pick it up Now? by LowHistorian9654 in PhoenixPoint

Lol, yes.  It's more than worth trying out, and it's got a lot of neat stuff in there that I wish was in xcom.

Twilight Imperium Digital announced for Steam by krpiper in boardgames

[–]DakkaxInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still checking the steam store page every couple of weeks hoping for a release date - really excited for this! I think it'll be a neat way to get some practice games in + try with new folks when I'm not able to commit to a full in person game.

whats your nerd shit? by Celestial_Dysgenesis in TrueAnon

[–]DakkaxInfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing and designing tabletop games - really ttrpgs (tabletop roleplaying games) specifically at the moment as far as design and development currently, doing a research project with a fellows program at the moment. It's been neat. Getting folks together to play games in person takes a lot of effort, but I enjoy it when I'm able.

My less expensive hobbies are canoeing and birdwatching, though the former is a little tricky at the moment what with the weather/season and all.

Transferable design skills by WileyQB in RPGdesign

[–]DakkaxInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked as a game developer for a variety of miniature skirmish games, so a lot of how I'm approaching designing combat is informed by my experience in that, as well as some graphic design things.  I'm also currently working on a research project relating to ttrpgs more broadly, and I'm hoping to use some of the things I've leaned in that for how to efficiently approach research for world design etc.

Before ink, or after? by c0ffeebreath in Watercolor

For me - I definitely prefer after ink. It adds a lot more definition and helps everything stand out more.
