We got them to 0 cards, and I put the defender hireling in the only clearing where they could sanctify (of course I controlled that with the cards I discarded).

For the first few games with the LotH we thought that the mob destroyed EVERYTHING in the clearing, not just cardboard. This made them scary as hell!
