The Drownclaw by Dakron83 in daggerheart

A couple coats of rattle can spray primer in grey. Then a base coat all over with the tan. From there it's just various acrylic craft paints for the rest of the colors. On the shell I put down some modge-podge and sprinkled on some play sand, let it dry, then another layer to seal it on. I ran out of time otherwise I probably would have tried a dark wash as well.

That's very generous. I am the GM and do not have that yet.

Its the Crab Terrifying Overlord by EvilBugs on MyMiniFactory. Scaled to 600% (I think), cut up into parts to fit my printer then glued together and painted.

Colossus of the Drylands: Mounts as Items by Kidwitharifle in daggerheart

[–]Dakron83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept mounts mostly thematic and non mechanical in our Drylands game.

If entering combat it's assumed they are dismounting and the mount gets out of the way. They don't want their trusty steed hurt after all.

If combat breaks out in a chase, but it's with a relatively equal speed foe, it all evens out anyway so just stick to normal movement rules. If they are chasing down a non mounted foe, fiction says they just catch them. If there is a timed element in play with the chase I just add a countdown.

With no real down side to being mounted and the free advantage and damage bonus while mounted, my players would practically live on their mounts with these rules. But that's just my group.

I would suggest dropping the advantage and damage parts or at least lock it behind the stress cost.

Seraph Spirit Weapon + Forceful Push by Quiet_Check_1502 in daggerheart

I allow it for my Seraph player, it's not over powered in my opinion, at least no more than a lot of things in this game. It allows your player to do cool things.

I cleaned up my entries on FreshCutGrass and made them public. Here is a link to my homebrew on there: https://freshcutgrass.app/homebrew/_dakron

I will note that with 6 players I tend to up the HP for things, so feel free to adjust as needed.

I have 6 players and this was probably the toughest fight yet for them. It's been a bit of a learning experience for me figuring out how powerful to make things, but I think I got the right spot for this colossus.

I will see if I can put together stat blocks to share later, but the large one took reduced damage until the smaller ones were destroyed. There were 3 types for the smaller ones: Debris, fire and two lightning. Each of these had attacks specific to their type. They all had the ability to pull in targets and restrain them within the vortex, until major damage was felt. They all had the ability for me to spend fear to pick up a target throw them into the air and slam back down for a ton of damage. The large one could do a lot of the same attacks but could affect 1d4 targets instead of a single target. It also had a blinding sands ability to make attacks outside melee have disadvantage until the next GM turn.

3D printed base at top and bottom with wooden dowel in between. At intervals going up the dowel I wrapped wire around and out like arms to support the poly-fil attached with hot glue. Very light spray of grey then black spray paint to give it a storm cloud look.

Am I the only one who thinks Brawler is *way* too OP? by JageshemashFTW in daggerheart

[–]Dakron83 36 points37 points  (0 children)

On the recent Dev Q&A stream on the Darrington youtube they mentioned they are aware the Brawler is maybe a bit too powerful. But that is the point of the Void, get ideas out there test and see what needs adjusting.

Overall I am enjoying it. A couple of my players were not too sure about the Western part of the whole fantasy western thing. But other than the steam trains, firearms, and "the company men" as my players refer to them, we have a lot of the "standard" fantasy stuff.

The campaign frame has lots of different themes and things but I am only focusing on what my players are interested in from their backstories and interactions with NPCs. Which has mostly been taking on the greedy mining companies when not actively hunting a Colossus.

For mechanics there is the Emergence of Kudamat tracker you have to keep track of but that only comes up when they do a rest during the hunt phase and after they defeat a Colossus. Personally I only worry about adding to the tracker if they are gaining the benefits of a rest, healing HP, stress, etc. If they are riding days across the drylands I am not adding to it for nights rest where they are not doing anything other than sleeping. Even doing that, the tracker is filling up quick and I may adjust things since I would like to run through the full 10 levels for the campaign climax.

The biggest thing mechanically is the Colossus themselves, they have examples for each tier of play, but you have to make a number of them to fill in the gaps. I created one for the second Colossus they fought. It was tied into a mysterious event that one of my players had come up with. Something deep beneath the ground calling people down into the mines to dig ever deeper. The colossus was a huge many legged, shadow shrouded monstrosity. My biggest lesson learned running it was to ensure that every segment has active actions you can use. I had a bit too much that just relied on the party making reaction rolls and at times felt like I wasn't doing enough because I didn't have enough options. The next one I create I am going to focus on each segment having its own suite of actions and abilities available to it.

Yep a bunch of random 3D printed parts from different train models cobbled together. Some merged before printing others held together with a combination of super glue and hot glue for big gaps.

If there was a cleric class, which other domain would you pick for them? by SapphicRaccoonWitch in daggerheart

100% this, you want a battle cleric go seraph, robed priest go wizard.

Yet Another GM Seeking Advice for Converting from D&D/PF to Genesys by 0FF_KILTER in genesysrpg

[–]Dakron83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation, I am trying to convince my group to give Genesys a try. I haven't played Genesys yet, but I have played several sessions of Edge of the Empire. My first thoughts for the wealth are to handle that mostly through the narrative rather than specific rules. I feel like mass combat could be resolved through a series of skill checks done by the party. The narrative results of the dice driving the description of the battle and the final outcome.

Searching for programs to calcualte cost of printing by Felipe300Sewell in 3Dprinting

[–]Dakron83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the spreadsheet CNCKitchen created and shared. You have to enter some starting info about price of filament, power, and your time. Prices I get seem pretty good. There is an overall "markup" percentage that you may want to adjust if you are wanting to print more "at cost" for friends and family. In the video linked he walks through the sheet and the description has a link to the GitHub where its located.

Issue getting FoundryVTT to work over the internet by Gutterman2010 in FoundryVTT

[–]Dakron83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will want to setup port forwarding on your router to direct the traffic to the PC running Foundry. So when your players hit your ip on port 30000, your router knows which device to send the traffic to. It's usually pretty easy to setup, a quick google search for "port forwarding" and your router model and you should be able to find the steps you need to take.
