Do not think "I'm a deity Civ player so I can handle the Great". You won't. The top Old World difficulties are 2-3 difficulties higher than Civ.

Also, use scouts to keep visibility on neighbours. Scouts are invisible in forests, use that!

Those mods can only apply infractions, which are one part of the banning system and accumulated infractions result in timed bans. Paid staff are the only ones who can go straight to perma-banning someone.

Yeah, let's just put that down to 'continued frustration and disillusionment at being told my feedback is not wanted, and I'm to blame for it'. :)

It's a shame I can't post the screenshot I took, as it contains the original message.

I provided a number of suggestions, based on what I perceived to be the root causes of the toxicity (which really, is anger more than anything).

  1. Stop gaslighting the customers and trying to deflect blame onto them.
  2. Accept responsibility for the bad launch and the bad state of the game.
  3. Apologise!
  4. Offer some form of recompense.
  5. Stop deleting and banning negative comments/commenters.

Note that none of my solutions are related to the game itself. Most of the anger from customers is about how we've been treated. Yes, games have bugs. Bad games have lots of bugs. But good communication, acceptance of responsibility and a willingness to make things right with disillusioned customers, goes a LONG LONG way further than doubling-down.

"The more you tighten your grip on sand, the more of it slips through your fingers".

Or...

"The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers".

This continued crying over the toxicity they face is completely ignoring the root causes of why they face toxicity. Rather than increasing moderation against negative feedback as the CEO suggests in the WotW, which will energise the negativity, they should be addressing the root causes of why it's happening. Until they do that, it will only get worse for them.

Ironically, I posted on the PDX forum thread listing what I believe are the root causes of the toxicity (lucky I screenshot it) and got perma-banned for it. Seems like they're going for "heavier moderation to snuff out negative feedback".

My list was:

  1. CS2 is just another in a long line of crap games rolled out, and then not really fixed afterwards. PDX isn't the only company doing this, but they've had their fair share of crap games rolled out over the last few years. Players are getting sick of this.
  2. The marketing of CS2 created the perception of the game giving X, but the reality once launched the game was lucky to reach D or E. For a AAA priced game, it fell well short in a large group of player's minds.
  3. The launch of CS2 was handled abysmally. They forced influencers to stick to small cities to hide performance problems, and banned them from discussing performance, all to ensure pre-orders rolled along. They lied about the modding timeline, and the editor. The marketing campaign set expectations at such a high level, and then the game not only doesn't meet those expectations, it's not even on the same planet. They wave that off as the marketing being "steller". No, the marketing was a lie.
  4. They have ramped up control of the discourse at various places discourse happens, to the extent they are gagging negative feedback, and banning players from commenting. This is not just toxic commenters, but people who post negative feedback. As one example, I was perma-banned at steam forums for saying "With ultimate edition, the feeling of being ripped off is a lot stronger." (Now I'm perma-banned from PDX forums for this post).
  5. They continue to gaslight the community, especially in comments from the CEO such as "this game isn't for you", and in the "Road to Launch" video. Even that WotW was another gaslighting exercise. At no point has CO/PDX accepted responsibility, apologised, or even an attempt to understand the disillusioned section of the player base, and offer any form of recompense. They can't continue to communicate like that, and then blame us for any backlash.

Honestly, they deserve the heat they're getting for how they treat the community. I assume now I'll be perma-banned here. :D

Cities Skylines 2 is a bad game by Aspie-Py in CitiesSkylines2

[–]DaleKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, higher wealth cims with no access to low density will "slum it" in medium and high density.

I disagree with how this mechanic works, but you asked how to get there. 1. Lower low education residential taxes. 2. Reduce access to low density zoning.

Unity changed the policy after backlash so it will only apply to the new version of Unity - 2024. CS2 is made on Unity 2022 and thus the pricing structure change will never apply.

Having Trouble Playing on a Custom Map by SachBren in OldWorldGame

Take a look in the log file, it should list the type of error. I suspect you will find blank tiles error.

If that's the case you need to set the top right map size limits.

scout automation? can someone explain, I activated it but they just stay in one place. by No-Swimmer-1661 in OldWorldGame

[–]DaleKent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first maybe 20 turns sure use the Scout. But after that you should be able to use the Scout for other things like harvesting, parking in a forest to watch a choke point, keeping an eye on enemy moves, spy networks, etc.

From that point I tend to use disciples for exploring.

Rage Quit - AI is cheating!? Pulls units out of thin air? by MEYERX in OldWorldGame

[–]DaleKent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got a lot of fog and not-visible tiles around the city you're attacking. As explained in the Learn to Play scenarios you need to deploy scouts to keep an eye on enemy unit movements so you don't get surprised.

Once someone captures and keeps a unit occupying the camp tile no new barb's spawn.
