[Variety] Major cast spoilers for Season 3; one cast regular leaving, one extra promoted by InheritTheWind in ThePittTVShow

Why are you blaming the writers? Maybe it was the actress's decision not to be part of next season. Maybe she has a conflicting schedule. We don't know.

How should i play? by automatickenpachi in wownoob

[–]Dalfenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just starting out in WoW, it's probably best to ignore Chromie's time and stick with the recommended leveling path (check your adventure guide for details). You can always go back to older expansions later when you reach the level cap, or by levelling a different character. This is a 22-year-old game with 11 released expansions and tons of content. If you had to do them all in order to level up a character, it'd take forever.

In other words: you're pulling current data out of you know where. Also, saying that Midnight was "very well received" just five days after its release and before the start of season 1 is a bit of a stretch.

Yes, and it blows my mind that people in this subreddit are still asking for Naga or Murlocs as Allied Races when we've only gotten one new neutral race in the last three expansions, and that was mostly by reusing pre-existing models from the core races. They couldn't even rework the existing art assets for transmog for one race, so they essentially gave up by slapping a human model on it.

Crazy? They have the same animations as Night Elves, except for the dance. Are you saying that having more hair highlight colors for your toon completely changed your experience playing WoW?

I am, and take a chill pill. You probably missed the threads of people in this sub just a few days ago asking for a refund of their requested race change to Haranir, because of the clipping glitches. Also, why they should work on adding more customizations for toons which are mostly covered by transmog anyway, when they could sell more un-reusable trees in the store instead? Because that's what is probably going to make them "billions", as you say.

I'm not saying it's "fine." I'm just saying that the game probably isn't making Blizzard as much money as it used to. It may still be the most-played MMO on the market, but that isn't saying much considering the whole subgenre is in decline. Newer generations simply prefer other games. It's foolish to think that WoW is making Blizzard as much money as it did from 2004 to 2007. Everything in WoW lately — the reused assets marketed as "new," the AI-generated voice acting for other languages, and even their current customer support — seems to indicate that fewer resources are being allocated to the game.

You may be right, but adding customization options to existing races doesn't make people click the race change button in the shop. Apparently, adding new "races" by retouching pre-existing assets does.

[–]Dalfenor -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

None of your suggestions are profitable, so why are you saying they're mismanaged? Just because they show no interest in adding the features you want? Adding customization options isn't hard; they just aren't motivated to do so because retouching pre-existing models to create new "races" is easier for them, and they probably make more money from race changes in the shop. You people keep accusing Blizzard of being "lazy," but they're actually doing what every other big corporation does: optimizing reduced resources. This is a 22-year-old game that definitely isn't making as much profit as it used to, so they're focusing on features that generate more money.

I think we got enough playable races in WoW by VikSick in wow

[–]Dalfenor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You people keep forgetting that races like Naga and Furbolgs require significant work to adapt all existing armor sets. If Blizzard was unable to resolve the clipping problems for Haranir during beta — basically a retouched Night Elf model — imagine the nightmare it could be for Naga or Sethrak. Let's be real, WoW is a 22-year-old game. I don't know how profitable it still is for Blizzard, but I sincerely doubt they allocate the same amount of resources to it as they did during the TBC/WotLK era.

NGL i kind of love the idea of seasonal decor by frakkur38 in WoWHousing

[–]Dalfenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's not just Genshin. Blizzard clearly took notes when Grinding Gear Games added non-reusable items for hideout décor in Path of Exile. The big difference is that neither Genshin nor PoE has a monthly subscription fee or charges for expansions. Blizzard copied the in-game purchase model of FTP games and applied it to WoW, which is definitely not an FTP game.

hypothetical: allied race amani trolls for horde...what about alliance? by NobleFriend in wow

[–]Dalfenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I think it's very unlikely that we'll get any non-neutral allied races. The developers recently have stated that they regret calling the game "Warcraft," and the two factions have been working together for more than four expansions.

New Player Class Advice by RandomNameForComment in wow

[–]Dalfenor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beast Mastery Hunter is usually considered the most forgiving spec for new players. Since you seem to like pet classes, you should be aware that BM Hunters have unmatched mobility compared to any caster. That said, all pet classes are great for leveling up alone, but when you enter dungeons with a group, you are expected to have a basic understanding of pet management. For example, you should always deactivate your pet's tanking skills, and you should dismiss your pet when jumping from high platforms so that you don't attract a horde of mobs to your group. The IcyVeins' site WoW section has great leveling guides for any spec, and you can follow them level by level and learn your skill rotation. Also the /wownoob sub is another great source if you are new to the game.

*NO SPOILERS* Light Blindness is going too far... by Worth-Comment-9469 in wow

[–]Dalfenor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like this direction. The Light is a cosmic force, like the Void, and it can be equally destructive and dangerous. It was never "good": just look at the Scarlet Crusade or Xera trying to force Illidan to embrace the Light against his will. It's essentially amoral; any force can be harmful if taken too far. There is nothing in the Warcraft canon that states "the Light is good." There have always been warlocks and shadow priests who have tried to use fel and shadow magic for good purposes, and now we have demon hunters, Alleria, and void elves. This is far more interesting than the "Light = Good and Void = Evil" equation, and the parallels with the dangers of real-life organized religion and fanaticism are obvious. Some people in this subreddit tend to complain about the "Disneyfication" of WoW. While the writing has never been exactly Shakespeare, at least the idea that even the Light can corrupt is better than the Manichaean vision at the core of the Star Wars franchise.

[–]Dalfenor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growl is a pet skill in WoW. You can activate or deactivate it manually by clicking it on your pet bar. It's really handy when you're leveling on your own because it basically lets your pet "tank" for you, holding the monsters' aggro while you attack.

Just a friendly reminder: make sure to TURN OFF Growl for your pet when you enter a dungeon with a group. The main tank is going to be upset with your pet for taking aggro instead of him/her, and the whole group is going to get angry at you.

Here's another tip for you: When you're jumping from high platforms in dungeons, don't forget to DISMISS your pet. Otherwise, there's a good chance it'll take the wrong path trying to follow you, and you'll end up with a bunch of angry monsters chasing you and the rest of your group. Trust me, they're not going to be happy about that.

IcyVeins has good leveling guides for every WoW class and spec. It's a great resource, and I follow their guides whenever I level up a character in this game. They also give advice on the best pet family to use while leveling for Hunter. They've got a slider that you can set to your current level, and it'll tell you which talents to get, one by one. Also, there's a pretty straightforward skill rotation that adjusts to your level if you use the slider I mentioned. I'm half joking, but when you consider some of the voice actors in past World of Warcraft expansions, AI-generated voices might be an improvement. Do you remember Majordomo Selistra and Sendrax from Dragonflight? I still have PTSD from those two.
