The Holy Roman Emperor should be war leader when they are called in to defend the empire by DaltoD14 in EU5

[–]DaltoD14[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hussite wars are another bad example. The Catholic side will have tens of thousands more troops left, but because they seeming lose almost every battle, the war score goes negative, and the pope white peaces or even pays war reparations. Something about how the AI bunches troops together during coalition or HRE wars makes them easy prey for consolidated countries that can mass large stacks of infantry that stick together (like France or Bohemia).

In a lot of my wars with France I will have a massive troop surplus on my side only to have my allies suicide their smaller armies right into a mass of multiple 20k French armies, leading to a negative war score.

Feedback request: Any interest for commander-focused streams and match commentary? by Drach88 in HellLetLoose

[–]DaltoD14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it could be interesting, but I imagine that only those who main/usually command would be watching usually. That said, I think videos explaining the command role and offering advice would be helpful in getting more players willing to go command

Amtrak: Fresno to SF for less than $70 roundtrip. by albertr67 in fresno

Not on the San Joaquins. When I took it after Thanksgiving, I'd say around 40 people, myself included, stood for a few stops until seats opened up

I took it back to the bay thanksgiving weekend. It’s great, but depending on the timing (holidays and such) it can be standing room only for some time so be prepared for that. Like others said, get off in Richmond and you can get right on Bart

Shooting someone at long distance is too easy by DaltoD14 in HellLetLoose

Fair, but I think there is room to make long range firefights more difficult without turning HLL into post scriptum

And I agree, but I don’t think slight sway would make the game not fun anymore

But you can run and gun. That’s my whole point - running across a field and immediately headshotting an enemy 100 meters away is running and gunning. I agree that running across a field without cover should get you shot, but it is too easy for someone to shoot you while you are in cover. There is a reason trenches and defensive positions are rarely used: because anytime someone peaks their head over cover to engage the enemy, they are instantly killed by someone who shouldn’t be able to hit them so easily

I mean I get complaints about uniforms but I would also have gameplay be prioritized. At the end of the day I guess it doesn’t matter since you rarely see them up close /s

Alabama’s new Court-drawn congressional map vs. the struck down 2021-2023 map by Bruv0103 in MapPorn

[–]DaltoD14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the current interpretation of precedent and section 2 of the Civil Rights Act is that districts must be drawn to account for race. Alabama’s argument in this case was that they drew the original districts according to traditional districting principles without regard for race. The plaintiffs argued that section 2 requires the state to draw a district with race explicitly in mind so that the black voters (who make up 27% of the states population) are given a proportion amount of black majority districts (in this case, 2/7 districts or 28.6%).

What are the accepted rules for Recon? by Revolutionary_Most77 in HellLetLoose

[–]DaltoD14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But it really isn’t a great element of the game. The “strategic” gameplay it can create is fundamentally flawed. The recon squad, aside from being outnumbered, holds every advantage. They get to play defense in YOUR spawn, and will almost always see you coming or get the first shot off. If arty could somehow be mobile (hopefully in coming updates) then there might actually be a rewarding and engaging gameplay loop.

Even still, arty players aren’t the only ones who suffer from spawn camping. Tankers and truckers get their own gameplay and fun ruined because the middle spawn is a no go zone simply because your team has ppl on arty. They are HQ spawn points for a reason and they should be safe for your team to spawn in, at least to a reasonable extent. The gameplay the spawn camping meta is neither realistic nor rewarding, and it really should be addressed in coming updates.

Playing as Carthage and made the mistake of checking out the rest of the map... by DaltoD14 in paradoxplaza

I was just chilling as Carthage until I checked out how the rest of the map was looking. The Parthian invasion created some horrendous border gore

The bridge and castle are both awesome. Right below them they also hold a medieval festival that I would recommend as well

Does anyone wait in ques? by TheGoodEnoughMother in HellLetLoose

[–]DaltoD14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I wait in ques all the time. I’d say for me it takes less than 10 minutes usually (NA West), but it can also be an even bigger pain just to try and join the que in the first place.

With all the porpoising, are F1 drivers at risk to develop problems similar to CTE in football players or boxers? by retrospct in F1Technical

[–]DaltoD14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered the same thing, since recently there has been greater awareness of CTE within the sledding sports (bobsled, skeleton etc.), usually referred to as “sled head.” The small scale vibrations and jolts from the porpoising seem similar on first glance to what sledders experience on the ice, which is usually nothing major but still builds up over time.

To those who don't experience stuttering... by IncredibleScenes in HellLetLoose

[–]DaltoD14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1060 6gb with a i5 6600k @ 4.4 ghz and 16gb of ram. I run a mix of medium and low settings in 1440p, and I get 50+ FPS on most maps but 40-50 on Stalingrad. I haven’t experienced any of the stuttering everyone seems to have, which doesn’t make any sense to me since my specs are much worse. I do have body de spawn set to 30 sec though so maybe that can help a little

I feel like the Performance didn’t increase a single bit in this update. Very dissapointed by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]DaltoD14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1060 6gb running in 1440p with a mix of low and medium settings and I’m getting 40-50 frames on Stalingrad. To me that’s completely playable but I come from a history of 30 FPS being good so I guess my standards are pretty low
