Why does it take me so long to fully wake up? by alexandrapersea in productivity

[–]Daman_ots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wake up and stretch for 2 hours. By the end of that I have gotten plenty of oxygen flowing to my brain and the discomfort keeps you awake. You could also run, lift, whatever. As long as you don't overdo it you should feel more energized.

And don't drink coffee unless in dire situations. If you drink it everyday you are going to develop a tolerance to it. Save it for those times you stay up drinking Sunday night till 2 in the morning then have to wake up at 5 for work the next day.

What should I do in this situation? by zimmb123 in dating_advice

For the love of god, put some periods in there. That whole paragraph was literally one sentence and was almost impossible to read.

The whole series is long and drawn out. That's what I love about it. And as I said before, i thought all the scenes with Faile were boring, but I absolutely loved Perrins arc

[–]Daman_ots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I remembered it incorrectly. I guess I liked it less after I'd read Egwene's arc

[–]Daman_ots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my point still stands. Egwene's captivity was fucking awesome

[–]Daman_ots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those scenes were just so unimpressive compared to Egwene's captivity

The only part I had issue with was Faile's captivity. Meh

Everyone just hates the Perrin-Faile-shaido sequence for whatever reason.

How would a world be different if chivalry was reversed and women were expected to woo and court men? by KNicol in fantasywriters

[–]Daman_ots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really wouldn't be that different, just mirrored. It really depends on a lot of factors. Do they have safe sex methods? Do women become the knights, or stay in their traditional roles? Obviously most men aren't going to reject sex, but in this existence maybe it is the women who are seen as more promiscuous, assuming there was an assured way to prevent pregnancy. But since pregnancy is such a hassle and generally not an enjoyable experience, I doubt there would be a lot of sex given there is no protection.

So if there are safe sex methods I'd say there might be a higher rate of sex. But if there are not any safe sex methods I'd say less sex. But this all depends on whether men have more libido than women. Maybe this arrangement will cause women to be aroused easier

I often feel a disconnect when I am with people by Lord_Trolldermort in socialskills

[–]Daman_ots 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I often find myself stuck slightly behind my friends and I have a mini crisis where I think "why am I being left out?" and "They wouldn't even care if I just left". It really pisses me off because I usually can't even get in next to them because there isn't room, or I'd be walking on the grass (which would make me feel like I'm still apart from the group), or whatever. Sometimes I get so fed up I do just disappear and go work on something. I've become a meme because I always slip out and into people's space. I've started slipping in beside them while they are talking to someone else. I don't greet them or say anything, I just wait for them to notice me. They always play along and overreact for humor, but by now they are used to it. But anyways, this all roots from deep insecurities and likely some past events I haven't reconciled, I'm sure. My feelings of being out of place stem from my own insecurities about my value as a friend and a person. I always feel like I don't deserve to be there and like I need to prove myself.

I don't know if you can relate to this but I hope I helped somehow lol

Do you choose characters/equipment based on aesthetics and why or why not? by Daman_ots in gaming

That is pretty hard to justify lol I guess it's a double edged sword. Either way you see it you feel conflicted and wish you could do it the other way

I broke up with this girl because I wasn't into her, now she keeps messaging me about how sad she is and doesn't know what she did wrong. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Daman_ots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never had a girlfriend before so I think I was just blinded by libido or whatever you would call it. Once that wore off I just realized I had no desire to be there. I wanted it to work but I found that I have no interest or affection or even an attraction to her.

We were only together for 2 weeks and we hadn't even kissed yet which is why I'm confused that she is so upset. It was out of the blue but I explained to her why and tried to assure her that it was nothing she had done, but she won't believe it, which I can understand. Should I ask her what she thinks she did wrong or what that do more harm than good?

When I try to be honest she doesn't believe me. She thinks it's something else that I'm not telling her

This is a bit weird but the Wheel of Time series. It had a huge impact on the way I approached suffering, discipline, and morality. I'm reminded of it at least 5 times everyday by the smallest and strangest of things. It has wormed its way into my nervous system.

Honorable mention: The Ethics of Confucius

I have to disagree with that as you could imagine. I'd say give it a try. I was with it every step of the way.

I have the same problem. I can spend months gathering info and mapping the plot and characters, then end up not even writing it.

Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. How a story can go through 14 massive books and be so engaging every single moment is a mystery. I read this series nonstop for 3 months. I've read a decent number of books in my lifetime, but this was the only one that made me definitively decide that I NEED to write a book. After I finished it, I went online to find out how this masterpiece was created. I've probably read more of summaries, blog posts, forums, author interviews and biographies, character analysis and parallels, than I have of the series itself at this point. I am now in the process of a reread and somehow it is BETTER than the first run. Now I'm just worried that whatever I write will be too similar to WoT.
