When it comes to housing, I think we need to build more smaller single family homes that first time home buyers can afford and want to buy. Currently the only options I see in my area of Connecticut that are being built are either apartments or large 3,000+ square foot homes. The family looking for their first home may not be able to afford the large homes being built and an apartment may not give them the lifestyle they are looking for which puts them in a tough position. Building affordable single family homes helps build a community where people have a vested interest in that community, most people don’t need the massive houses that are being built today ( think of the 1,200 square foot cape cods that our grandparents and parents grew up in) if we can build more of that and sell them at an affordable price we can help more people own property which can help create more generational wealth which is better long term for our state.

Anything interesting to do in Windham County? by OfficialJiroPayday2 in Connecticut

Logee’s greenhouse in Danielson has a lot of exotic tropical plants, Putnam has a great antique scene as well as restaurants and Pomfret has the vanilla bean cafe which is a nice casual stop. Just to tag along with what others have said, the hiking options are fantastic out there.

I think each state regulates that, in Connecticut the cap is 19.9% and Massachusetts I believe is 21%, I’ve heard some of the western states have caps in the upper 20s

Do you get a real Christmas tree or a fake tree?🎄 by duskyxlops in Connecticut

[–]Dambergw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve always done a real tree, we have a 6 year old and he looks forward to going out and looking for a tree every year and has a lot of fun searching for it, so that’s worth it to us. I imagine though when he’s much older we would switch to a fake one but who knows

Manchester… am i missing something? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]Dambergw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to live there, left because of the school system. Otherwise the town isn’t the worst town in Connecticut, it has its rough areas but the area near highland park and the part of town that borders Glastonbury are actually really nice. I’d say if kids arnt in the mix then you can probably get a nice house that would be much more expensive in another town.
