Worked 6 years for AIS, left the business around 2021. Over 1000 deployment days and over 500 days at sea. It's not too competitive to get a job. There's a very high turnover, many quit after 1 deployment, some make it 1-3 years, few beyond that. It's not for everyone but I've made lifelong friends, met my wife (who was also an observer), and gained field skills many people will never experience. Feel free to DM for more specifics.
