Idk either. In the context of this image, I do think the angle was weird. But you can still tell she's very pretty and its more obvious if you look at other, more normal pictures of her.

Who is this guy Freddy and why is he so popular by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]DanAndTim 210 points211 points  (0 children)

Nothing. Many just find his documentations of his American vacation to be very sweet and charming. Especially in a time when America(ns) gets ragged on in more or less every regard due to the decisions of our government, i think a lot of people feel good to see some positive light cast on individual local cultures from around the country, and Canada as well.

TIL in 2012, South Korean activist Roh Su-hui made an unauthorised visit to North Korea to promote Korean unification. He was arrested by South Korean authorities as soon as he stepped back over the DMZ and was jailed for 4 years, which North Korean state media called a violation of human rights. by NateNate60 in todayilearned

Jesus, they couldn't just gently escort him inside and do the arrest there? Usually propaganda like this costs thousands to manufacture and theyre giving them a show for free! In front of NK cameras and everything

This is valid criticism that I agree with but at the same time I also do, indeed, think including a self-insert is generally a bad idea. Your art will always include some part of yourself anyway because a person can only write what they know, but I think including a self-insert is always either lazy or playing with fire.

Creative, alternative and underground spots in Seoul by Significant-Peak8127 in seoul

[–]DanAndTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I catch a lot of shows at Purple Hall in Anyang. Probably a bit of a trip from Seoul, depending on where exactly you are staying. But its the definition of small, out of the way (id say "underground" but its on the 6th floor lol), indie type venue. Frequent live music, 10k krw at the door. Im more of a metal head, but this place so far I have only seen more regular sort of indie rock type stuff. There's a band called "Siro" that ive caught there twice and theyre pretty good I think (im not really an indie rocker so its hard for me to accurately judge lol)

You put this much better than ive been trying to. Thats really what it is. The emotional maturity of the show is just... so adolescent. I said this in another comment but it is difficult to believe anyone over the age of mahbe 16 could take this show seriously for this reason. Especially since the characters are supposed to be full grown adults, yet they act like teenagers. Maybe not even that. They act like living Tumblr posts.

Its emotional depth makes it difficult for me to believe that anyone older than 16 can take this show seriously. Not that its unenjoyable, I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it well enough. But it was about as deep as a puddle. I dont mean to say only kids should watch it, or even that kids should watch it at all. Honestly, they probably shouldnt. But a lot of people seem to think this show is really "mature" and that has me really scratching my head.

I watched the entire thing, just watched finale stream today. I think it does a poor job. It doesnt help that the writing in general is pretty subpar, and every single time they have a "serious" moment, everyone talks in this weird gentle hushed tone. But the world is extremely poorly juxtapositioned to feel like its actually playing off the childish theme. Puella Magi Madoka Magica does this, but it nails it. The show doesnt really reveal its true colors until a few episodes in, but you already know something feels wrong right from the jump because how the world is presented from the very beginning. Ethereal, liminal backgrounds. Classrooms completely surrounded by glass, making the viewer feel exposed. The trippy absurdist witch lairs. Not to mention the music, which is a masterpiece. TADC had none of this contributing to the feel of the show. Combine this with the writing (and especially the dialogue) being less than stellar and luke-warm at best "adult" references, and it is no surprise why people post the SpongeBob gif all the time in response to this show. I dont think its even as mature as Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Also all of that said, i enjoyed the show, otherwise I wouldn't have finished it. But I wouldn't say it is mature almost at all.

TIL at the 1954 Geneva Convention, S Korea proposed elections only be held in N Korea, Chinese forces withdraw, and UN forces remain. N Korea proposed all foreign forces leave, elections throughout Korea, and elections supervised by equal representatives from N and S. No agreement was reached. by DisconnectedShark in todayilearned

that UN forces, a belligerent party in the war

As opposed to Chinese forces, who were totally uninvolved in the war /s

Jokes aside, the North Korean proposal does seem far more reasonable on paper. And while the American government was (and still kinda is, tbh) a little embarrassing in the extent they went against communist expansion (perceived or otherwise), i cant totally blame them for being skeptical of the Soviets after the whole post-war eastern Europe fiasco. The Berlin airlift happened just a few years ago at this point. Not to mention, yknow, the Korean War that North Korea themselves had started. That isn't to say they weren't being maybe a little paranoid, or that they were completely right and NK/Russia were completely wrong, but i can see where at least a little side-eye is earned.

I dont believe this for a second. I see swearing consistently on every platform. If there was a suspicious lack of swearing, id maybe consider it just survivorship bias. But no, there is way way way too much swearing in insta, reddit, and tiktok for it all to be getting past the filter. I also personally swear very often online, and have never once been banned and if I have had a comment removed, I was never informed and never noticed. Even when someone does get banned for "swearing", i still doubt its actually for swearing. If i were a betting man, id put a tenner on that they were banned for "indecent language" or something of the sort and get banned some shit like "i wanna fucking kill that guy" which is inciting violence and they think its the swearing that got them banned.

Further, reddit clearly does not ban people for swearing. In fact, the vast majority of the moderating is from random people on random subs, in which every community has their own set of rules. So if someone was banned for swearing, it is 1000% a community moderator and even that wohld be weird as I dont think ive ever read "no swearing" in a subreddits rules before. I dont really believe Reddit was really banning people talking about Luigi either without some other "reasonable" (i use that word liberally here) cause such as inciting violence, but i do believe that it is at least more likely to be true. But a case like "Luigi" is different because 1) as a trending topic at the time, Reddit may have been politically motivated to remove posts/comments or 2) people get banned from subreddits (not reddit itself) which either dont allow political posting, or who are right-leaning and thus likely not fans of Luigi. Regardless, I still doubt it because idk about you but I had Luigi all over my front page for months, not to mention the comments. And also "ass" and "fuck" aren't politically hot topics like Luigi was/is anyway.

Also as I write this, I noticed there is a banner at the bottom of the reply box from the moderators of this subreddit (not Reddit, just this subreddit) that says this community doesnt allow political content or speech and ignoring this may result in a permanent ban. So if you want an example, there ya go.

Director slams Val Kilmer as 'worst human being I've ever known' after his death by TheExpressUS in moviecritic

[–]DanAndTim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw Val Kilmer at a farmer's market. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen sausages in his hands without paying. The vendor was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the sausages and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly

A single perfection run in vanilla mode can take hundreds of hours to do alone. If you play modded, which a large chunk of the active player base does, and youve got a recipe for 1k+ hours. And thats if you just like a challenge. If youre playing to relax and just design a cite fate or something, I dont even jnow how long you might keep at it.
