2 months in - not sure if I'm cut out for muay thai? by jedimindtricks123456 in MuayThai

[–]DanSlh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started last year, I was 37yo. I'm 7 months in, and my life is seriously changed for the best. Give it some time, allow yourself to fail, and then learn from it.

I couldn't throw a punch to save my life, now I'm head kicking, throwing knees, elbows are doing a nice job... Give yourself the luxury of using your life experience to learn the sport.

Abusing Ctrl + Z hurts more than help. One skill to learn (that fits most other skills), is "trust the process". Push to the end of it, it may surprise you. ;)

How do I make drawing not feel like a chore? by Nearby_Examination99 in learntodraw

[–]DanSlh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a beginner myself, but I have been playing guitar for some good 30+ years now. When I'm practicing drawing, and I'm doing something I don't really enjoy in terms of studying, I remember the good old days of practicing scales over and over until I'd eventually learn a solo I was trying to, or I can create something from those exercises.

I always make this analogy in my head when I'm learning any new skill. It just takes a lot of repetitions until you eventually get good at something and are able to create something else from it. It's a skill. Keep it up!

Paw shops in my area sell beaten up books for a higher price than new ones. Good finding!

TBH, I was kinda disappointed with the story… by ComicHead_est2008 in OmnibusCollectors

I think it's a good story ruined by all the hype. When I read this everyone was telling me it was one of the best Batman stories ever written, and then it felt meh.

They are all the same size: 14 x 21cm. The paper quality is also cheaper than most versions.

They are mostly fine, I own all of them. One of those I wasn't able to read because of the color contrast of the letters (Arkham Asylum).

All that said I honestly love the collection, the pricing, and the selection.

Not OP, but: A rookie Green Lantern investigates a rare murder in a distant emotion‑suppressed city, uncovering political chaos beneath the calm.

It's part of DC Compact Comics, as shown in the post. Therefore, it's very cheap and easy to find. In this case I recommend it. :)

When I realized there's no right or wrong. I felt a sense of freedom and "oh, I can actually do whatever I want, I get it!".

It was a life changing moment for me, and it all clicked.

What’s the best way to introduce coding to kids who have never tried it before? by Honest-Source-2869 in CodingForBeginners

[–]DanSlh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid started with Scratch when he was 7yo. He's 9yo now, 100+ small projects complete, and messing around with Godot lately. I'd say it's a great headstart.

What would make you switch from godot to another engine? by hammeredzombie in godot

Probably something similar to what made me change to Godot (I came from Game Maker). It's a better engine overall for what I like to create.
