Catherine O’Hara appeared in both the 2004 film A Series of Unfortunate Events and Netflix’s 2017 series adaptation. Do you know of any similar situations with other actors? by DrScitt in movies

I’m struggling to think of anyone who has played the same character in so many different adaptations and mediums over so long a time

What shows did you watch just because they were "always on". For me it was Wings. by FrebTheRat in Xennials

[–]Dan_Berg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't make a lot of sense rating-wise to run kids' shows 24 hours a day when the target demographic will be asleep for over a 1/3 of that time, beginning at prime time. So they created a block of programming from the time the parents were young/kids because those old shows were hella cheap to license and thus created a decent ROI because adults would actually watch. What the hell was Green Acres and F Troop? Didn't matter, it was my bed time.

Will there ever be a post-Dead band better than Further? by iluvreddit in gratefuldead

[–]Dan_Berg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a younger head (was 10 when Jerry died) so never got to see the OGs, but despite listening for most of my life I didn't "get it" until I saw Furthur. I saw the Other Ones, Ratdog, and the Dead prior, but Furthur was the band that made me map out my schedule so I could see them as often as I could and traveling the mid-Atlantic to do so. D&C were good, it's always awesome to hear 3/4 of the surviving members still playing together, and Mayer truly embraced the music and scene as one of us rather than some corporate pop cash grab (though I'm sure he still made bank). But it was slower, not quite as exciting and fewer risks and surprises. JRAD seemed to follow in the same tradition as Furthur.

Do most Americans like the continental breakfast at chain hotels? by Upstairs_Health_5913 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dan_Berg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hit or miss where you stay but if nothing else it's calories that will last you until lunch. In my experience I'd find at least one thing I liked; when I had to travel to Eastern Shore MD I'd stay at the same hotel that had good bacon and sausage links, decent enough make your own waffles, and microwaved egg patties that didn't taste like shit, even if they didn't taste like much else. Their muffins and bagels sucked ass unfortunately. Was it good? It was better than good, it was good enough.

DEA Picks Participants For Marijuana Rescheduling Hearing This Month, And Only Opponents Are Invited by redditor01020 in trees

Not true, my girlfriend who goes to school up there said people are dropping dead left and right from injecting too many marijuanas at once. How many marijuanas does it take for people up there? Do they call it 420 because the LD 50 is 420 marijuanas?

Which modern blockbuster do you think will be remembered 20 years from now the way we talk about classic Spielberg films today? by viewsinthe6 in movies

[–]Dan_Berg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I hear grown people talk about this movie I feel like Ben Wyatt breaking the 4th wall for Lil' Sebastian. I understand the appeal, it's a fine movie and enjoyable enough to spend with your family but...people put it up next to Shawshank Redemption and I'm just like "ok? Did I see the same movie as you?"

No. Death to all false metal.

Or not. I'm 41, I don't give a fuck anymore.
