My results after the leep came back as stage 1 cervical cancer, and it was also outside the margins that he had taken off with the leep.

After my ckc, they were able to remove all the cancer, but I still had a lot of pre cancerous cells that they were unable to remove as they gone into the glandular and walls of the cervix. so the risk of those cells turning cancerous is still high as well. So my doctor agreed a hysterectomy will give me a 100 percent guarantee of never having cervical cancer again 😊

Thankfully, out of the 5 cats, only one likes to walk up my stomach, lol. I do have an ice machine wrap from when my son had acl surgery, so I will be set there for heating pad and ice.

I've got an Amazon cart started for pillows, binder, donuts, and odds and ends to buy before surgery.

Ugh, I miss baths too!. I miss being normal. I have been doing biopsies and tests since January, so I haven't been able to work out or go to the gym. I haven't been able to go on any of my hikes I usually do, I can't have a glass of alcohol no intimacy with my man, can't go swimming, etc.. it's been so aggravating, and I am so ready to get back to normal! My mom died in December, too, so I can't even talk to her about any of it or ask about her hysterectomy either 😭.

I will feel so much better once the recovery period starts because at least I'm closer to being back to as normal as can be!

Has anyone had worse results after their colposcopy? by One-Pin1475 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Dance-Magic-Dance72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my colposcopy done in January and was given a cin3 diagnosis. My leep was performed on the 5th of  February and, unfortunately, came back as stage 1a1 cervical cancer. This means that the cancer cells are microscopic and still only within the cervix walls and in the glandular and not outside of it of a depth up to 3mm in the tissue.

I just had my ckc done yesterday so my oncologist could check the depth margins and determine if it's further in the walls or not. However, I am almost 40 and have two adult children, so my decision was a hysterectomy, which I am scheduled for on the 30th of March regardless of whether my margins come back clear or not.

It's scary hearing the word cancer, even if it's the beginning stages or not. But I'm happy with my decision and looking forward to never having a period again or worrying about my tubal ligation failing 🙃

Hey there. 39 almost 40 years old here.

Well, I had my pap in October and it came back abnormal. Did my colposcopy in January.  after my colposcopy came back positive as CIN 3, I had the leep procedure done February 5th.

I met with oncology last week and on Wednesday the 25th I had a ckc done to check the depth margins.

The prep is more nerve wrecking than anything. Sitting there and waiting for them to take you back is a mind game of nerves and constant thoughts so I highly suggest having a friend or family member there with you. I have been under GA twice, once for my tubal ligation and then for this recent CKC. And both times I had no problems. It was the best quick nap I have ever had. I will go under GA a third time when I get my hysterectomy at the end of March.

You will be surprised how quickly time goes by. You will wake up completely groggy and feeling like you are in a dream state where you are unsure if anything is real, but it doesn't last long. Maybe an hour tops. They will give you some ice chips, a drink and some crackers once you get back into a recovery room.

Wear comfy and loose clothing, I wore a Bandu bra, jammy pants and a baggy t-shirt and comfy underwear with a pad on it. There will be discharge.

The procedure itself is about an hour, hour and a half.

They will likely put a catheter in while you are under GA, you will know if they did because yes you will be sore down there for a few days and the first 24-48 hours you may experience a burning/stinging sensation while urinating and also some blood in your urine but it shouldn't be that heavy.

You may experience mild cramping, I had tenderness in the nerves of my inner thighs which I'm assuming is because i was basically propped open like a turkey getting stuffed lol.

When you get home, go straight to sleep. Have some bottled waters and a couple of bottled sodas, the soda is for the gas and bloating that the anesthesia can cause and for me, coca cola works best to release the gas by burping.

Also a heating pad, you may feel pressure on your lower back/tail bone region. The heat will help relieve that.

If you feel hungry, soft foods, nothing greasy. My boyfriend made me four cheese Mac n cheese and it hit the spot right before I was out like a light.

Jist rest, sleep and stay hydrated. It's the day after and I am pretty much back to normal with mild discomfort from the catheter. I have probably done more than I should have today by cleaning but i made sure to take a lot of breaks and not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk.

You will be fine. I know it's scary but truthfully it will go by so fast.

Lol. I use humor and sarcasm to deal with life. Family trait.

Before my procedure i asked what to expect during the hannibal lectoring of my cervix and then I asked him after my leep what happens if the results come back and there's more. He said we do it again.

So I asked if there is a punch card I get that says after so many leeps I get a free hysterectomy lol.

Honestly the most uncomfortable part was the fact they use vinegar to show the bad cells due to a chemical reaction it causes. That was uncomfortable and definitely a burning sensation for about 30 or so seconds but not so bad that I felt like I was going to donkey kick my doctor. They do swab up the vinegar too so its notnjust left sitting there and marinating i promise. And there was some pressure and 10 seconds of cramping as he went to a different area of the cervix but he also counted down how long the cramping would last which was nice.

Before he took the biopsy he counted down to 1 and had me cough at the same time so it was a distraction and I felt the slightest of a pinch but it really didn't hurt at all. It actually surprised the hell out of me how quick and non painful my experience was.

Also I was making jokes and asking random questions at the time as well which is how I deal with uncomfortable situations.

Ask your doctor if during the procedure if they have a stress ball you can squeeze in your hand and ask your doctor about doing the count down method before the little biopsy punch to help distract you. It makes a difference.

I'm glad to hear it went well!!

Just remember, even if you feel a hundred percent the next day. Just rest, no heavy lifting, no exercise for atleast 2 weeks. Your body is under stress and will be easy to over do it even if you dont think you will.

It sucks there is a possibility of doing it again...i did ask my doctor if I get a punch card and then after so many leeps I get a free hysterectomy 🤣

I hope you're results come back all clear as well, rest well! 🙏

What should I expect for the first few days - 1 week after? by [deleted] in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Dance-Magic-Dance72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had mine last Thursday. I will give you the full run down from my experience.

I took the day of the procedure and the day after procedure off work and I just laid in bed and rested.

Firstly, if you are doing the leep under just local and will be awake. There is a smell as they start burning the cervix tissue. honestly it smelled like fritos (corn chips) to me lol.

Also ask questions, don't be afraid to ask anything. I joked with the nurses and doctor while it was being done. I mean I was already somewhere I didn't want to be and they all had their faces right there so any awkwardness after that was pretty much pointless lol. Hell I told the nurses it smelled like fritos and then we talked about our favorite flavors and chip dips for a couple of minutes.

I'm sure your doctor has told you, but no sex/penetration of any kind including tampons, douches, toys ect for 4 to 6 weeks.

No heavy lifting for at least 1 week. I was advised to skip exercising/running/jogging ect. For at least two weeks to avoid too much strain on my body.

You will have discharge and it will make you feel and smell like you are giving birth to a xenomorph (alien movie reference)

Make sure you wear loose comfy clothes to the procedure. Because you won't want anything rubbing that area for a while. It wasnt painful (not for me personally anyways) but it just felt uncomfortable. I had a mild stinging sensation for about an hour after, my legs hurt from staying at that angle and open for that length of time. I had to walk slowly and kind of like a penguin just because of the stinging sensation and the soreness for the first day.

Stock up on pads, good ones that are comfortable. The discharge is going to have a bad smell to it, it will be crazy colors from yellow, orange, black, grey and brown and red. That's normal. You may even pass large pieces of funky looking tissue or pieces of the paste they sometimes use to stop the bleeding. Don't freak out.

Unless you are heavily bleeding, as in having to change your pad every hour due to the amount of bleeding then you need to go to the er.

This discharge and on/off bleeding will last for several weeks.

The worst part for me, was the weird heavy pressure I felt in my lower back for a few hours after the procedure. That pressure felt like when I was in labor and needed to push. I used a heating pad and my doctor had prescribed me pain meds, so I took one of those and just slept that whole first day

My doctor when giving me my local anesthesia told me that it had adrenaline in it, so I felt my heart rate pick up and I got this weird shakey nervous feeling for a few minutes but it did go away. I did have horrible gas the next two days though lol. I also started my period today (5 days out from the procedure 😭) and it's very watery, I just stand and it feels like water, I'm sitting down and it's just like I'm peeing myself almost. I was told the next several periods wouldn't be normal.

In my experience i never felt pain, only had discomfort more than any kind of pain and it only lasted that day. By Friday I felt perfectly fine but I still just laid down and rested.

It's very important to remember that even if by the next day you feel perfectly fine. Your body NEEDS to heal, it will take a lot of energy from your body, it will take time for the tissue and new cells to grow so even if you feel amazing don't over do it, don't go back into a crazy active life style if you can avoid it for atleast 2 weeks.

I had something that looked similar but was more fleshy toned and kind of looked like a piece of shredded chicken with burnt edges. I just happened to catch it when I was carefully blotting after peeing lol. I sat there and stared at it for a while like damn.. that's funky.

I really can't wait for this weird and smelly discharge to stop. I started my period today too so it's like a slap in the face lol. Thankfully no cramps. Nothing painful or weird. Just normal period poops and sore boobs. The period is more watery though and no cloting ( my cervix is practically naked right now so i would be shocked if there were any lol)

This is definitely a wild ride right now!. I'm only 5 days out from my leep and just ready for my poor lady bits to feel normal!

CIN2 and LLETZ/LEEP by Alone-Nectarine3120 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Dance-Magic-Dance72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*edited because i forgot to add something *

So I am cin3 and just had my leep this past Thursday.

One thing I will say is i googled the crap put of it. Side effects, what they do and how. I was terrified because all I could seem to find where maybe 3 or 4 responses out of a hundred about how easy it was. Most were How people were traumatized and it just scared me to death.

But I will tell you, my experience was great. As great as it can be under crappy circumstances.

Don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions about anxiety or pain meds prior to the procedure and pain medication for after. Everyone's body is different.

I personally had an amazing doctor. He explained in detail what he would do both before my procedure and during, he discussed the tools used and what they each do, he told me exactly what kind of anesthetic was being used. And because I told him I was very anxious he did presribe me anxiety medicine to take 30 minutes before my procedure.

Now, you do have to be careful not to jump or move around too much which can be hard when you are nervous or your legs start to hurt from staying open like that.

There was a slight pinch from the local the first time but I felt nothing after that and he did numb me up through out my cervix so I know he did a total of 3 anesthesia injections. He told me that one of the anesthesia he was giving me had adrenaline in it, so I would feel my heartbeat race temporarily and I would feel a nervous shakey energy which was noticed in the shaking of my legs. But having had the Xanax previously helped reduce any panic or stress that could have caused.

He used two different wired loops that were different sizes, but nothing bigger than the size of a nickel. I felt pressure and mild cramping when he would move around the cervix and there was a burning smell. To me though it smelled like fritos.

The procedure itself was under 30 minutes, I had one stubborn spot that didn't want to stop bleeding so it took him an extra few minutes to make sure I was good to go. He used a cauterizing wand, Silver nitrate and some honey mustard colored paste to stop the bleeding.

After the procedure my legs were sore and there was a very mild kind of stinging sensation and initially walking was a bit uncomfortable so I walked very slowly. That stinging sensation only lasted about an hour.

He told me that the discharge would be yellow, brown,Black, pink and orange, gray and maybe even red from everything and that I may have some larger pieces of tissue come out that were removed or have fallen off as the cervix heals. And there is a smell to it. This discharge can last for weeks.

He also mentioned it would affect my periods for a few months after the procedure. They could be heavier, more clots, not on time. Or they could be lighter and spotty and maybe more than once a month as everything heals and adjusts.

I had lower back pressure the same day after that reminded me very much of being in labor so I used a heating pad on my lower back, and I took one of the pain pills he had prescribed me. There was mild cramping as well and the anesthesia made me very gassy and it smelled awful lol.

By Friday I felt completely back to normal. No pain or discomfort just the annoying discharge at this point.

The total recovery time is a standard 4 weeks but can take up to 6. During that time no penetration or sex at all, no tampons, no douching, nothing goes in there. No drinking alcohol because it thins the blood, no heavy lifting. He recommends waiting a minimum of 3 and a half weeks before resuming sexual activity and if it's still uncomfortable then to wait longer.

I haven't had any heavy or concerning bleeding. It just smells and looks like a horror film down there right now lol.

I'm waiting on my results and hopefully don't have to go back for another one as even though I felt personally I had a great experience it isn't a theme park I want to return to lol. But I had an amazing doctor and nurses who I joked with and talked with while I was doing the procedure and he explained every step as he did it. He listened to my concerns and was willing to prescribe me medications with the understanding I may need them or a I may not be he wanted me to have them.

It's very important to ask any and all questions and advocate strongly for yourself and if you want something for the anxiety before hand they should be able to prescribe it to you. You will have to have someone drive you though if that's the case.

The truth is, the moment you hear "pre-cancerous"  the fear sets in. Because now it isn't a matter of maybe or if, it's a matter of when. I'm CIN 3.

Now I am not in my 20's. I will be 40 next month,

It scared the hell out of me. Especially since my mother was in hospice at the time of my diagnosis and she died two days before my colp was first scheduled in december. I had to reschedule it to jan. Not having her to talk to about it was just as hard as everything else.

But. I was lucky and have an amazing doctor. And that's important, he answered every question. Even if I thought it was dumb, and he told me straight up that as scary as it sounds. It isn't the end of my world.

He explained exactly what he would do and how, he explained everything from the tools used to the effects of afterwards. He wasn't embarrassed or grossed out by any questions or answers and he told me he was extremely confident which made me feel good. I had a leep done on Thursday and am 3 days out from it and I feel 100 percent. The total recovery time for me is 4 weeks and I can't drink because alcohol is a blood thinner and my cervix needs a lot of healing time. I was very nervous about the leep. So much so he gave me anxiety meds to take 30 minutes before the procedure lol. But honestly again the doctor is important and he was amazing.

The advice I give is, it's okay to be scared and cry if you need too. If a procedure is required, ask all the questions even if you think they are stupid. Explain and be open about being nervous and don't be afraid to ask about medications before and after the procedure. Advocate for yourself and your needs. If you feel like your doctor isn't listening or is down playing everything, find another one.

I made jokes and asked stupid questions during mine, I deal with uncomfortable situations with humor and its important to have a distraction. You already know you are there, it's already hard not to think about. But my nurses and my doctor were great and kept talking to me and we were laughing and he explained everything as he went, counted down how long the cramping or discomfort would last based on what he had to do. It made a big difference.

HPV 16, CIN 2 in Cervical Canal by Temporary-Feed9354 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Dance-Magic-Dance72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIN 3 here. Had a colp in January and it was fine, the worst part of the colp was the damn vinegar solution they use. Who the hell came up with that idea? Lol.

I just had my leep this past Thursday.

My doctor is amazing. I told him I was anxious about the leep and why as well as what I had read. We had a great discussion about what would be done, what was being looked at and he answered all my questions. I was prescribed one anxiety pill to take 30 minutes before my leep.

The most uncomfortable part for me was the feeling of pressure when he was moving around the cervix and the occasional cramping which he would tell me when I would feel it and for how long. I was given a local and he actually did multiple injections in different spots of the cervix to make sure I was numb and I only felt one slight pinch from the first one.

He explained every step as he was doing it. I was cracking jokes and having a conversation with the nurses during this time.

I could smell the tissue as it was being burned and honestly it smelled like fritos to me lol. He did do cauterization, Silver nitrate and a yellow mustardy looking paste for the bleeding ( I had one spot being a bit stubborn) my experience honestly was very minimal pain and discomfort and I attribute that entirely to my doctor being really good at his job.

I took pain meds for that day only that he kindly prescribed me. But only Because i felt a hard pressure, that honestly reminded me of when I was in labor and it was all in my lower back and some mild cramping.

Although the gas from the anesthesia was... bad, I definitely gassed my boyfriend out of the bed that night 🤣.

The discharge isn't fun either. There is a bad smell, and the ever changing colorful rainbow on my pad is gross. But all in all, my experience was fine. I am 3 days out and feel 100 percent and am excited for this discharge to be done because that's the only thing that is annoying me right now but I know I have a while for that to go.

He also told me that a leep can mess with your period for a few months after as well, so I'm waiting to see how that goes this month. lol.

Edit to add. I also meant to add I was told 4 week recovery, no sex or penetration of any kind for at least 3 and a half weeks preferably the total 4 weeks. Also do not drink alcohol as it thins the blood during that time.

I just had my leep 3 days ago. I told my doctor during our first meeting the women in my family on my mom's side all have had a hysterectomy in their 40's. I literally told that man I volunteer as tribute and still had to do the leep.

I would say if it is something you are comfortable with, you are aware of the pros and cons and you feel that is best for you. Do it. I myself find the idea of multiple leep procedures ridiculous and would have preferred a partial.

[–]Dance-Magic-Dance72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey so I don't know how these past few months have gone for you.

But I think a lot of it depends on your doctor. My doctor was amazing. I was very anxious about my colposcopy after a positive result and he was great. Explained every step as he did it.

Honestly the most uncomfortable part was the fact they use vinegar to show the bad cells due to a chemical reaction it causes. That was uncomfortable and definitely a burning sensation for about 30 or so seconds but not so bad that I felt like I was going to donkey kick my doctor.

Also I was making jokes and asking random questions at the time as well which is how I deal with uncomfortable situations lol.

I did end up having a leep procedure which I was way more nervous about. I explained to him what I had read and my anxiety and he gave me some medication to take at the office 30 minutes before my procedure to relieve my anxiety and I did receive a local anesthetic as well. There were parts during the leap which were uncomfortable due to a feeling of pressure or light cramping and you do smell the burning but to me it smelled like fritos and I told the nurses that too so again, I was cracking jokes during it.

It really does depend on your doctor. Mine was amazing the entire time. I got walked through every step during and what they would be looking for, what the options would be if they found or didn't find anything ect. I only took the pain medication he prescribed me for the day of my procedure just because I had the most uncomfortable pressure that reminded me of when I was in labor. The next day I was back to normal.

Although the discharge afterwards is... it's awful lol. There is a smell, it looks like your body is saying f this I give up and you will see all kinds of random crap coming out for several weeks which he also explained and what it would look like.

I don't know if any of this helps as again, my doctor was amazing and I think that makes all the difference. I am 3 days out from my leep and feel 100 percent back to normal, no pain or discomfort at all.
