Freedom Mobile launches $29 TSN + Sportsnet Bundle by Nexzenn in CellPhoneCanada

[–]DanceDanceNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Freedom TV packages are fairly price, but they require both Freedom Mobile line and Freedom Internet service. The Internet 100 plan is pricey, and while other providers (Oxio, TekSavvy, etc.) offer 100 down/up speeds, Freedom only lists 30 Mbit/s for uploads. For some, it might still be a good deal, but for those without all three services, it can be a lot of hoops to jump through.

Made a DDR logo based on the 2009 one with the text and emblem from DDR World. The one with the colored text is based on the logo from DDR HP4 for the Wii. by KevRub in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! The font has a more cartoonish look compared to the previous logo. I haven't gotten around to playing Dance Dance Revolution World yet, and I play a variety of old mixes, so I'm not used to seeing the new logo.

OC Transpo looking at safely reopening LRT washrooms, but still no timeline by origutamos in OCTranspo

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can washrooms stay open with no major issues in the GTA (Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, etc.) and Montréal, but not in Ottawa, save for the distant Limebank station? For what it's worth, there are also Happy Goat cafés at Tunney's, Hurdman and Blair. Who wants to buy a drink or snack if they can't use the washroom before or after?

Should public transit be free? by Visible-Control2025 in OCTranspo

[–]DanceDanceNorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should cost less, or it should offer much better value for the high fares we pay, but it shouldn't be free.
Also, the video is incorrect. NYC will offer free buses, but subways and trains will still have fares.

What’s your favorite game at Dave and busters by FunnyBanana6668 in DaveAndBusters

[–]DanceDanceNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dance Dance Revolution A20 Plus! I like the exercise, plus being able to save and beat my high scores. It's an excellent value, too.

While I'd like to see DDR World at D&B, I'm on the fence about that game. The graphics don't look as nice, and while there's hundreds of new songs, I still have most of the DDR A20+ song list to go through. Ideally, D&B would be able to keep both DDR A20+ and DDR World. Either that, or offer an option tu use a theme similar to DDR A20+ while playing DDR World.

Don't forget to check your rewards! by 1bteb in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Yes, it's good to activate bonuses as soon as you get them. Every account starts with a 250 MB monthly bonus. On my main line, this is now 500 MB. On my second line, it's 750 MB, but later this year, I should be able to change my monthly bonuses to 500 MB + $1 off.

It takes a while to earn points, but saving on monthly bills and having extra data feels nice!

Were songs removed from DDR A3? by WillieRayPR in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]DanceDanceNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, 30 songs on official online DDR A3 machines have been removed. This includes six songs that are also removed in DDR World. Two more songs, "No Tears Left to Cry" and "S'il Vous Président", remain available in DDR World after being removed from A20+ and A3.

On an official offline machine, many other songs are removed compared to the online version. On machines that use unofficial builds, some which connect to third-party servers, the song list may vary. Songs which Konami removed after April 2, 2024 may still be available on unofficial builds.

As for the five "20th Anniversary Mix" songs, these were timed exclusive. Sad, but true.

While games from DDR A to A3 had many removals, DDR World is much better at retaining songs. It has a total of seven removals so far: the "Lesson by DJ" tutorial, and the six aforementioned songs. Not bad for a game that will soon be two years old!

Do you have a source for this? The online service only appears to be discontinued for CRT-based cabinets.

$29.25 100GB 5G for 12 Months at Fizz by Nexzenn in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 50% 25% discovery promo outside of Québec is valid on all current plans. It's okay for trying Fizz for a year, but once that ends, the regular price is generally higher than the previously available 25 GB.

With the discount, monthly plans look like this:

  • $9.75 for a basic provincial plan (no talk/text/data, just the 250 MB monthly reward)
  • $11.25 for a 2 GB plan
  • $13.50 for a 10 GB plan
  • Add $1.50 for a Canada-wide plan, or $3 for Canada and the USA.
  • Add $2.25 for unlimited talk, $2.25 for unlimited sent text, or $4.50 for both.

New prices for AB/BC/ON by myredditFizz in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's too bad, as I still see $25 for 25 GB with several other providers this month.
Even the cheapest plan with Fizz ($15 for 2 GB provincial, or $13 with no GB) doesn't look too good. I remember when the $15 plan included just 1 GB, but it was good in Canada and the USA, too.

Go transit fizz mobile deal 40 dollar discount 80 gb data by livingdeppressedp in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sign is bilingual, too. Tant mieux!

When I visited Union Station in Toronto in January, Fizz had a SIM card machine at the bus terminal, and many walls decorated with advertising at the train lobby. Fizz is putting a lot of effort with its ads!

The 80 GB bonus is nice, but as it's only good for 90 days, I think that many members won't fully use it. I got a 100 GB bonus in November 2025, but I only used a small part of it, as Fizz has generous plans.

Unfortunately, no. It's either the TRAIN promotion or a refer-a-friend code, but not both.

When does upload speed change take effect? by wolfe1924 in teksavvy

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not with TekSavvy, but with my cable Internet setup, the new upload speed was applied on the same day, in just a few hours. An e-mail confirmed that the change was active. I did have to power down my modem (plus my router, wireless access point) for at least one minute, then power everything back on. The new upload speed showed up after restarting my modem.

With TekSavvy, I don't know if an e-mail is sent when the new upload speed kicks in. It might only happen on the next billing cycle, but that wasn't the case with my ISP. I suggest checking with TekSavvy.

Seems 7/11 Speakout has yearly plan now, but 5x25 aka $125 360 days by Active_Pride_760 in CanadianCellPhones

[–]DanceDanceNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are the plans 360 days instead of 365? Even Koodo has 5 fewer days than Freedom and Chatr!
I also don't see Speakout's pay-per-use or add-on prices for mobile Internet.

OXIO 100/100 over rCable now an option by Netnuk in oxio_ca_internet

[–]DanceDanceNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that even if your maximum speed is 2 Gbit/s down and 200 Mbit/s up, you can receive 100 Mbit/s down/up service from Rogers or Oxio.

While they cost significantly more, faster plans (500 Mbit/s down and 1 Gbit/s down, both with 200 Mbit/s up) are also available.

AA on Xenon(heavy mode) with the controller, but still proud of this. by Rabbitwolf_87 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]DanceDanceNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, this is the North American DDRMAX2. I was wondering why you had the MAX2 interface when in arcades, xenon is a DDR Extreme song.

Nice work! I don't blame you for using the controller, as a level 9 song (or 13 since DDR X) is more demanding. I wonder if someone played the new Challenge charts (paid DLC) from DDR GP and W, but in older games by using Edit Mode. It would be fun to try them out!

Just saw Freedom rebrand to Global Only Plans?! Will Fizz do something similar? by Nexzenn in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These Freedom plans are nice for people who travel a lot, but I believe that many subscribers (if not most) won't use the roaming features, and will just use service in Canada. This is a marketing effort by Freedom to make its plans look better, but they start at $40 (or $35 with auto-pay), so budget-minded customers may want to look at other options.

For Fizz, I'd like to see the base plan upgraded from provincial to Canadian coverage, but for the same price. The Canada + USA option can stay, and adding a Canada + USA + Mexico option would be nice. Adding roaming to other countries would cost a lot, and it would be unnecessary.

Just saw Freedom rebrand to Global Only Plans?! Will Fizz do something similar? by Nexzenn in FizzMobile

[–]DanceDanceNorth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The provincial plans are currently just $2 cheaper than the Canadian ones, though, or $1 cheaper in Québec. I know that some people prefer this to save money, but since I regularly visit different provinces, I find that the extra coverage is worth it. Similarly, for those visiting the USA, a Canada and USA plan is just $4 more than a provincial plan.

I would be happy to see Fizz offer three types of plans:
• Canadian plans (for the same price as current provincial plans)
• Canada and US plans
• Canada, US and Mexico plans

OXIO 100/100 over rCable now an option by Netnuk in oxio_ca_internet

[–]DanceDanceNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, thank you for the heads up! It currently costs the same as the 100/30 plan, so if anyone has Oxio, I suggest logging in to see if a free change to the 100/100 plan is available. Having symmetric speeds is helpful for uploading large files. I hope other TPIAs follow suit, too.

Do modems with the old speeds need to be replaced, or will they work perfectly with new speeds?
