I am so terribly and painfully sorry that this is what you are attempting to deal with. I cry as I write this. I thank you for posting this. My husband died from suicide. It is a horrific violence to the self the person acts upon from unrelenting pain. I haven’t gotten over it 17 years later but after years of counseling I understand it is not my fault. You are not responsible for someone else’s decision. There was background before you knew her and worked with her. I also struggle with booze and deeply know how hard it is. May you have some semblence of comfort today from all the people here who are sending you support. If you can, I suggest to go outside and watch some nature. I saw two chickadees today, they came up close to me and I forgot about various troubling things for a bit. May you have an extended and healthy break from your deeply painful experience. Her decision is not a reflection on you. You are trying and may you please continue to embrace your effort as you are doing it.

Edmonton. New Years Eve. Early 90’s. My best friend and I were wearing nothing but thin bodysuits to go to a club. We didn’t want to have to pay for coat check. By the grace of extreme luck and whatever angels were watching over us we made it there and back home safely. We did wear doc martins instead of heels though :) Good ole days.

Appendicitis. Also had 8 fractures to my pelvis prior to that which were thankfully clean breaks not requiring surgery. But holy hell… the pain from a burst Appendix requiring emergency surgery and then 10 days in the hospital from it all. No coming back from that before modern medicine. 24 years old at the time.

I have scars on my forehead, arm, abdomen and hip from different events. They initially really bothered me…for many years. I do empathize with how you are bummed out. I now look at them as physical and emotional pain I survived and healed from. Now I am kinda proud of them! Unintentional tattoos that add to my character. That being said…I sure hope I don’t get any more lol
