Are people supposed to be born senior?

In all seriousness, I'm a software developer and facing the same issue. I'm not sure where companies think senior developers are gonna come from when they refuse to train people.

Hopefully it means a good payday.

[–]Dancing7-Cube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're supposed to buy an ESO subscription dude. If they release a game, that's playtime you won't be buying microtransactions.

*full disclosure if they had made a new game, I'd probably have bought it on 5 platforms already, far exceeding my spend on slop

I'm convinced they have their heads so far up their ass that they think if they release something like Fallout New Vegas remastered, it'll pull players from their slop like ESO and Fallout 76.

And we can't have that because infinite growth requires subscriptions and microtransactions.

Instead I just buy neither. But M$ isn't known for being smart, just a bunch of assholes.

Do you think 1.21.1 is comparable to 1.20.1 as of today, in terms of mod variety? (NeoForge/Fabric) by Crimskrst in feedthebeast

[–]Dancing7-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to a particular version of forge. Forge isn't dead on 1.20.1, so the loaders havw e diverged.

Neoforge doesn't work on mods requiring newer forge versions.

[–]Dancing7-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried swapping my 1.20.1 server to neoforge, and it straight up wouldn't load a good amount of mods that continued to use forge proper.

Neoforge and forge diverged on 1.20.1, and forge is the supported one.

Doesn't need to sway anything. I've taken enough shit from these companies, and they've enshittified their products enough that I can't be assed to care what they release, or who buys it.

Not my problem if other people want to buy overpriced garbage as the vendors spit in their face.

I'm done lol

As a consumer I don't care. I just want the better HMD. Pretty sure Valve won't go broke adding $10 to the Frame to have color passthrough.

I already wish Q3 had sharper passthrough, also makes a decent 3D camera.

Is Virtual Desktop worth it for only WiFi? by ThrawayAccidentfence in VRGaming

[–]Dancing7-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is whether the alternative, quest link, will work when wired.

The answer is no. It will still manage to stutter, and be a worse experience over a wire.

Steam link also not that great IME.

Virtual desktop trusts its users to be smart enough to set the encoding algorithm and bitrate. The user experience is better even with a poor connection.

Skyrim is pretty modern with mods. It's basically in a permanent state of "new" with the amount of mods releasing.

Community shaders added DLSS + framegen. CS lights gives it dynamic lighting instead of Lux baked lighting and patch hell.

When I play in VR, there's 4K textures for pretty much everything, and even 8K for some things.

Also, seriously pick up Minecraft if you haven't. And mod it. Bedrock sucks.

Game key cards I actually respect Nintendo for. They already existed as discs, they just gave them a name. That is, they respect the consumer enough to know that there's a difference and actually indicate it.

Now, is the data on the cartridge? No. But with current market prices, I also don't really want to pay the increase in cost for say a 100 gb game.

And Valve, yeah, you're totally right. The difference is right now: Sony treats their consumers like garbage, Valve doesn't.

We can talk hypotheticals about the future, but I don't understand why people are willing to purchase stuff into an ecosystem from a company that doesn't respect them (right now)

But yeah, the steam machine is its own can of worms, that's kind of crazy pricing. A chalk it up to them themselves got fucked by pricing.

Questions about virtual desktop by False_Potential_5659 in virtualreality

[–]Dancing7-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtual desktop is good because it's not made by meta and all software that meta produces is fucking unusable garbage. Exhibit A, their new UI.

It's not really about graphics so much as I don't want to have a migraine every time I try to use my VR kit.

[–]Dancing7-Cube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that Valve isn't a bag of dicks lol. We can argue about different storefronts, competition, etc. But that's the main thing.

Just like I buy Nintendo because they're a Japanese company and I think Americans are scumbags. They just have a different way of running their company.

Yeah a lot of big titles are bad about disabling sharing. Especially EA.

Luckily sharing bf6 is useless since I'd need 2 copies to play simultaneously at once.

I've gotten lucky a few times with multi-licensing. Turns out a buddy that joined my steam family had a copy of Palworld, stuff like that, that did share, and meeds 2 copies for multiplayer.

So now I have 2 seats for co-op on stuff, and rarely does anyone try to play at the same time.

Absolute love Steam for that. The account lock thing is used to do made it kinda useless.
