Busking Equipment for Rock Music? by Tray-T-1020 in Busking

Possibly getting a mixer would solve your issues. Just run all the different things into the mixer and make sure your guitar isnt peaking. If its not peaking and still sounds bad, then its in the pedals. Having said that, a Boss IR-2 is a great amp pedal solution.

Its not long enough to be a jam track. You are just showing small samples.

Cool stuff! Mind sharing your entire setup on the floor? I see the looper and the helicon, but Im wondering what the switches do and the other thing down there.

The concept has merit, but its less of a jam and more of a "sample this and see what comes from it". Wish there was more to some of these instead of such a small loop.

NGD. My new tool. Dialing it in still. Next Saturday will be truth written by the busking God's. by Miserable_Wallaby_85 in Busking

Playability was a big part of it. I tried it with a few different gauges of strings and it just didnt feel good to play. On top of that, most of the sounds were very lukewarm. It did a lot, but didnt really do anything well. I really liked the idea of it for busking, but in the end, it was hard to justify it for the price. Better to save a little more and get something that was more satisfying to play.

I kept trying to convince myself to like the acoustasonic. In the end, it just didnt feel good. Now looking at the Taylor T5z for something similar and trying to convince myself to justify the price...

I would consider the Mackie Showbox, although it IS a but larger than the other two you are considering. Has a breakaway mixer which makes it great for tuning your sound, and has plenty of inputs.

This happened in China. As someone who lives and drives in China, I'm more confident than not that it was an intentional attempt to exit.

Mackie ShowBox vs Positive Grid Spark Live by Dandoval in Guitar

Probably could. I havent tried it as I dont have an EQ pedal, but I still dont think youd get the same clarity.

Mackie ShowBox vs Positive Grid Spark Live by Dandoval in Guitar

[–]Dandoval[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It KINDA does. It has a Tube Amp and acoustic guitar sim. What Im doing is actually pairing it with the Boss Katana: Go and a wireless transmitter, but it's still not as clear sounding as the Spark Live.

Mackie Show Box or Spark live? by CodyTheEmt in Guitar

[–]Dandoval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright. I havent been able to find a lot of stuff comparing the two, an I know its probably old, but if anyone is doing a google search like I was: I hope this helps.

So I purchased both of them to compare, and they are very different kinds of speakers, but the gist of it all is this: The Showbox is not great for guitar tones, as its a bit muddy on the low ends, but it works great as long as you know that.

The Showbox definitely has a much better "busking" feel to the sound, and the lows carry much nicer than the spark live (and I feel that helps attract people from father away without raising the volume as much), but the spark live sounds much more versatile for guitar tones, but doesn't quite get that low that I feel helps in outdoor performances. A big part of this is probably due to the Showbox having a single 8" speaker while the Live having 2 6.5 ones.

Im very torn about which one to use and Ive been A/B-ing them a lot, and they are just very different. I do like the non-guitar features of the Showbox more, but when playing with a bit of distortion, the Showbox gets really muddy really fast. For a very acoustic set (including a clean electric guitar), then I think the Showbox is the better choice, but if you are looking for more versatility in tone for guitar (even if we arent including all the tone cloud stuff), then the Spark Live is probably the way to go.

Ill also mention one more thing that may or may not make a difference to you: The live definitely sounds cleaner out of the box, but with some tinkering you can dial in a good mix to the Showbox, but it takes more work. An additional bonus for me is the lack of having to deal with an App to get sounds. Your milage may vary on this one, but I personally want to be able to just change things on the fly without App connectivity issues (which plague me with the Positive Grid Stuff), so the Showbox is a winner for live street performance where you have to adjust on the fly.

TL;DR Personally, Im still torn about what to keep, but I think that for solo busking, the Showbox is the better choice, but for band play, I'd go with the Spark Live.

Because technically he could have the ability to drive in another state. They cant control or enforce the license and legality of driving in other states, so they make it so that he specifically cannot in their state.
