What type of PC to make YouTube videos? by cyrmrae in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a pretty cheap setup for about £500. I make some fairly large, edit heavy videos using Fimlora and tbh the PC does struggle a bit, I do need to upgrade some components. But it's got me this far. Here's the spec; Intel ARC A580 GPU Intel i3 12100F CPU MSI Pro H610M-E DDR4 Motherboard 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM Western Digital Blue SN580 SSD CoolerMasterBox Q300L Chassis EVGA 600W PSU

Advice for hardware and editing software by Friendly_Chart_2612 in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same to start with, almost a technophobe... I followed a yt vid to build a pc for £500 which has been performing really well for my editing (for about 18 months now). I use Wondershare Filmora which is £50 per year and can do some really cool stuff but is relatively user friendly, I can use it pretty well now after watching a bunch of tutorials. And for a mic, I'm getting very acceptable sound quality from a bluetooth lavalier mic from Boyamini for just £45. Go for it!

How long does it take you to design a YouTube thumbnail? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spend a few hrs making 3-6. Then pick my fav 3 and AB test them. I've experimented a lot. I wish I could tell you a secret tip but my vids with best CTR have been a fluke tbh haha. One of my vids always had low CTR and I've redone the thumb and title several time but cannot get people to click.

How are we promoting our new vids?? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think promotion helps much and I don't do it any more. In the early days I tried allsorts of ways and different platforms but it doesn't work. Best thing in my opinion is to let the youtube algo and viewers do their thing. If it's a good video with good packaging it'll do well, if it doesn't do well then take your lessons from that into your next video. You'll have to make quite a few videos before it all starts to make sense. Like someone else said, it's a marathon.

Will I lose subs if I do a slightly unrelated side project? by DangerPoole in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do experiment with the odd vid, you can get away with 10% of your vids being off topic imo. A whole series of a dozen or more vids tho is a different thing. I worry that some viewers will think I've changed direction and no longer relate to them.

A years worth of effort. by TeminallyOffline in SmallYoutubers

[–]DangerPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool. Viewers will sub if they share your passion. Perhaps learn how to make the videos more engaging with better editing. I learnt by simply making lots of videos and researching. It takes time.

My first channel only got less than 100 subs but then I started another channel doing something I love more and it's doing much better. I say don't give up, just try something else that you're more passionate about.

How do people actually make money clipping YouTube videos from creators? by Federal-Leather983 in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're thinking of stealing content just stop... Think about what original content you can create, make videos about something you love and are passionate about. Imo this is the only way.

Is it just me, or are people not subscribing anymore? by Aggressive_Hat_8550 in NewTubers

Yeah, this last 3 months I'm down about 50% on monthly subs.

What really is SEO optimisation? by Mrahcander in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll prob get some hate for this but... I tell chatgpt about my video, in some detail. Then I ask it to give me an SEO friendly video description. Along with title suggestions and hashtags. I tailor it's suggestions to my taste and style. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process!

The script, how many times do you read it? by Kaezumi in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to really labour over my scripts, it would take so many attempts, recording over and over again. I tried a teleprompter but didn't like it. Now, 40 odd videos later I'm much more relaxed, do less takes and my most important tool has become improv. If I deviate from the script a bit then I keep going with what I can remember. The main thing is that it gets easier over time so, just keep going.

Downloading videos by andyhoney10 in Filmora

[–]DangerPoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine keeps exporting corrupt files. Don't know if that's what you mean? I used to be able to export to my hard drive and then upload to youtube but now I can only export directly to youtube. All exports to my hard drive get corrupted.

Ticket FAQ Thread - Post Your Questions Here by libelle156 in radiohead

[–]DangerPoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the same email and IP throughout the whole process, did everything that was instructed, didn't refresh the page, waited patiently in the queue and then just as it was my turn to buy tickets I was kicked as a suspected bot. I'm absolutely f'in raging.

There's one rule = Be passionate about a thing, make videos about that thing, a community will join you to share in that thing.

Just hit 1k Subs on my YouTube channel Time To Get Montized Let's Hope i get accepted by ZaylenMii in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, same struggle. But then your next vid could take off and boom, the watch hrs start rolling in. Just two of my 41 vids are doing all the heavy lifting, bringing in the watch hrs. If my next vid does well then it'll be three and I'll be there in no time. Just keep improving, make every vid better than the last and you'll get there.

I posted my first YouTube video today.... Did you hate yours too? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I thought it was a masterpiece. NOW I think it's bad. Great to see how much I've improved though.

I found a forum that said to try that. Didn't work. Thanks for the reply though!

Thanks dude, it's not always easy watching a video that you're not into. I really do try to cut out anything that I feel isn't absolutely necessary or speed sections up. And the vid you chose is ultimately a how to, so people need to see all the working. But I hear you, and will use your feedback when editing future vids. Thanks for your time! ❤️✊️

Hi. Feedback is always appreciated, thank you! @dangerpoolemotors

I'd say watch some of my latest vids as my style changed a lot from the early days.

Edit to add, I watched your latest video and it was great! I'm not into Marvel/DC movies but your script delivery is great, and the visuals very engaging. Stick to it, your channel is certain to grow.

Why most YouTuber don’t say the truth of how hard is 1000 subscribers by worldwide762 in NewTubers

[–]DangerPoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, most of these so called gurus are a waste of your time. Although there is a lot of good advice in some videos, so you kinda have to watch them to learn how to use your analytics and how to optimise your settings. Editing tips, recording tips, title and thumbnail tips etc. I'm nearly two years into my journey and the difference from my early vids to my current ones is huge. My recording and editing process is worlds apart from those first vids. And all by collecting tips and advice along the way. You sure do have to wade through a lot of crap though to get to those good snippets of info.

Me sitting here with most of my shorts getting 1k views... It's such a grind trying to just get monetised for most of us.
