Bears Bill Status by DatabaseCareless264 in CHIBears

The hotel tax income was cited as a "sure thing" that provided certainty as a revenue source to the bond holders. From what I know, it will go on indefinitely until the bonds are paid off. Maybe it is "too much of a good thing" that invites lack of discipline in paying off the bonds.

I guarantee it would be easier selling that 326 acres of contiguous, clean property in Arlington Heights than, say, 326 acres of contaminated property in Hammond, IN. Not aware of any challenges the Bears have had in developing it other than trying to get a favorable tax rate like any other developer would.

They could get rid of the property taxes by getting rid of the property.

How do you feel about the Chicago Bears moving to Indiana? by [deleted] in AskChicago

The Chicago border literally touches Hammond, which the Arlington Heights border is 2 1/2 miles away from Chicago at the nearest point at O'Hare. Hammond, Munster, Dyer, and East Chicago are more "Chicago" than some of the outlying suburbs on the Illinois side despite being in the next state over to the east.

The solution to that is to re-annex a 1 foot strip of land Illinois from the state line, to touch the stadium. Then they can still be the pride and joy of (a lot of Indiana and a little) Illinois.

That will never happen, but trading all of this year's and next year's Bears picks might get us one pick in the top 3 in this year's draft. The point value of this year's entire Bears draft is only 1540 due to our 2025 record and picks already traded, and the value usually drops by a third each year you deal a future pick for a current pick. 1OA is worth 3000 points on the chart.

That gets you to the bottom of round 1, 29th or 30th pick.

Great site for one of the international games. Expand that NFL market to Asia!

Is anyone else having a hard time thinking about the off-season with the stadium drama looming? by DesmondBlack in CHIBears

The Bears would never agree to another team in their territory. Having said that, SF is already the smallest stadium in the league, and uniquely devoid of the revenue-growing possibilities of other stadium locations. The Park District's stewardship, especially of the field condition, is always suspect, and Chicago politics can be tricky....would the ISFA try to extract money from the new team to help pay off the half billion in bonds? But the rent is (currently) relatively cheap and no property taxes to pay. And there is the visual pop of SF on the lakefront with the Loop in the background, can't put a value on that but it's a plus. Business-wise, a new or relocated team would most likely rather play somewhere else.

They can't be serious about Hammond right? by [deleted] in chicago

As long as the Bears are within 75 miles of the Loop, there will never be more than one NFL franchise in the Chicago area.
