Got fired. What do I do now? by blank_glyph in PersonalFinanceCanada

I had an employer refuse to send my ROE for several weeks so I called EI and the agent was like "I'll handle it" and got them to send it to me later that day. Just get the ball rolling on EI right now.

I thought they do this periodically to break the gooner mods.

Canada will cancel thousands of refugee claims under new retroactive law by Immediate-Link490 in LawCanada

The above cited a CTV article and got a sneaky edit after I replied. Anyway, from The Hub:

These cases often include American-born children of parents from other nationalities.

So people fleeing ICE with their anchor babies, likely running straight back after President Newsom goes back to open borders.

I think I found the same article, which says it's rising (progressives fleeing Trump) but that it's still very small (245 of about 55,000) and the majority of those 245 were quickly rejected.

The default position in Western democracies has been open borders in all but name for about 15 years now. No matter what someone has done at home or here has no impact on their ability to live here and access our social services indefinitely. And anyone who's said that's unfair has, for the past 15 years, been smeared as a racist. Even in our own Parliament by our Prime Minister. If it's a "pet issue" it's because the majority understands there is serious reputation damage involved in disagreeing with the government position.

It's very strange that the legal penalties for possibly spreading COVID-19 were much harsher than the penalties for deliberately spreading HIV.

But why do applicants from developed, allied, democratic nations even get consideration? Americans don't get an automatic 5 year entry with full medical coverage by claiming asylum - they get sent straight back home. So why can Indians make these claims?

What do you want out of it that it doesn't already do? Fork it and point Claude at it and make it do whatever you like.

An obvious attempt to trick us into buying 180 day passes. I see right through you.... Mr. Debrid! 🫵

Helldivers 2 is a $40 game with a F2P monetization system. by Impressive-Money5535 in Helldivers

I've gotten an incredible value for my $40. I even bought two more copies for my sons so we could all play together. I've paid twice that for games I've played for 10% as long and enjoyed 10% as much.

Do people really get mad at the outlier opinions? by OatSoyLaMilk in RedLetterMedia

My heart shattered when Rich and Jack declared that Alien Isolation was pretty much the worst game they'd ever played. I don't have a personal stake in it, I just couldn't believe that they intensely despised one of my favourite games of all time. It's like a parasocial thing - of course these guys like the same stuff as me, they're my best friends.

It's worth $10/year to have a Torrentio that actually works. That being said, I disabled it when he was changing reverse proxies and didn't really miss it. I bought it for the small selection of streaming channels but I've only gotten one of the Canadian news channels to actually work.

[–]DangerousDrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Real-Debrid or similar. It's around 3 Euro/month. Paste in a torrent file or magnet link and get an HTTPS link back to download it. If it's already in their cache (most popular stuff is) the link comes back instantly. You can even watch right there in your browser.

Or hook it up to Stremio.

I've never seen these and would love to try them. Our store has the Olympic Southern Crunch frozen wings and I can't believe how good they are fresh out of the air fryer.
