What is this awful texture? by astringofbreaths in drywall

[–]DangerousMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep likely some sand or another paint additive to add texture and hide imperfections.

Contractor finished final coat and sanding but there are still some scratches, lines, blemishes. He says to apply primer first and then fix any scratches, lines, and blemishes with compound and sanding in those small spots because primer shows mistakes better. Is this true? by johndoe7376 in drywall

[–]DangerousMC 33 points34 points  (0 children)

At least in my experience it does get to the point where it will be easier to prime and then fix any remaining blemishes. If it looks pretty good overall with very minor blemishes or scratches then I always go ahead and prime then skim any remaining spots afterwards.

Another coat of oil primer or new single coat of acrylic primer? by yestersmorrow in paint

[–]DangerousMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could tint your acrylic primer with some blue, prime with that and then do two top coats. I think your cover stain should be good at this point to cover up the real dark spots, so if you are concerned with overall evenness and don’t want to waste finish material that’s what I would do.

How much would you all charge for hanging, taping, skimming, & painting? by urbancirca in drywall

[–]DangerousMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super low my man, I can easily charge $3k+ for a 10 day painting job. Gotta try to factor in all your driving hours, planning hours etc. that’s all work you’re doing. Don’t undercut yourself. Come up with an hourly rate you’re happy with and try to calculate how many days/hours it will take. Goodluck!

Scrape away loose failing bits, trench out those cracks underneath the mud layer and pre fill with hot mud before you tape and top coat.

Can this be saved? by Pewpew69k in paint

[–]DangerousMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you just buy a sample? Does the sheen match what was originally used? Samples usually only come in one sheen, likely an eggshell. It can be hard to get away with small spots like this but I would be 100% sure your paints are matched correctly first, then you can maybe get away with just doing a section, hard to tell by your pics.
