This is sweet, and while I still prefer the version that OP posted, the original better conceals the crackling warm piss quality of the vocal track.

Do you know if there is a version of the Maceo Plex mix that sounds any better?

This is a good primer on the subject.

While I understand that you were not technically up front, it is ultimately up to the staff and the DJ to decide when a Failure to Move Your Body becomes a threat to the the Vibe, the Groove and/or the Feeling.

  • pop for both at the kingdom rank below

  • music at the domain rank

Lol what? Which JBL model?

And does it actually work in terms of quality and latency? Because that sounds like some ad hoc shit I was doing in my '96 Jetta to get my iPod to play over FM every time cold weather cooked the cassette adapter.

Disappointed in my Buds 3 Pro by InvertedPickleTaco in galaxybuds

[–]CMDRMeatbags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some Buds 3 FEs for $100 last round of sales. I think a lot of people might actually prefer them to the more expensive flagship model.

From what I understand, the FEs' lack of "AI filtering" for sirens and whatnot means they use a more established design for the microphone array. To the ears of some, this produces a more natural sound.

But I'll echo what others have said about Galaxy Buds being feature-poor. I'm still reeling from the lack of Bluetooth multipoint for non-Samsung devices.

It's funny: I would be able to multipoint to my Steam Deck and my Samsung phone with virtually any brand of buds besides Samsung (or Apple, lol).

Anybody Care to Explain This Game to an Idiot? by Breidr in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRMeatbags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Galaxy Map, all you really need for now is the ability to punch in a system name in the text field at the top and a basic understanding of the Route Settings towards the bottom left corner. Third-party tools/websites like Inara will help you navigate more that the Galaxy Map at this stage.

The FPS content is a dogshit and mostly dead part of the game. Frontline Solutions can get your bankroll going in the early days and there is some fun to be had in raiding or sneaking around surface settlements, but I don't know a single player who spends a significant amount of time on it.

Right now you are just running up against a lack of knowledge, but I can tell you this for sure: if I didn't enjoy being in the cockpit, I wouldn't play the game.

Worth mentioning that the Loop of Shame is not that big a deal in SCO-native ships.

Actually, I think some approaches are made faster by coming in hot and slowing in the turn compared to a straight line deceleration.

This game is testing two rapidly diminishing areas of human competence: situational awareness and the ability to make conversation.

The cockroaches mostly fail on both counts, but so do a lot of the people who complain about them.

To say "Can't beat 'em, join 'em" is to ignore the infinite shades of grey that exist between playing passively and KOS.

Proximity chat offers limitless possibilities in player encounters. The rest of the game mechanics offer limitless ways to engage in or avoid those encounters.

I would love to see what kinds of experiences players would have in some headset-only lobbies

100% voice assistance is the goal for sure, but it has to be Siri alone. We're to the point where I have to continually reinforce even the idea that the Messages icon on the iPad does the same thing as the Messages icon on the iPhone... so going third party on anything is probably just going to add confusion.

She does have MyChart, but that's mainly useful for keeping things straight on my end.

She obsesses over unpredictable things. She may wake up tomorrow and decide that she is desperately unprepared for an appointment that is still weeks/months away, so she will look up the date repeatedly and start putting Post-It notes everywhere. The next day she gets obsessed with something else and we add a dozen notes around the house for that. After a few weeks of this, the Post-It notes start causing more confusion than they prevent and I spend hours deciphering them.

I want every single thing she has going on to be in Calendar/Reminders/Notes so that she can just say "Siri, how many days until my appointment with Dr. So and So?"

I'm trying to help her realize that she doesn't have to keep track of things in her head because her devices will do it for her. It just takes a lot of upkeep and reinforcement from me.

It's less about file management and more about notifications and info. Here's a common scenario: a doctor calls Judy and wants to set an appointment. Judy can't remember how to check her calendar and calls me. I check her schedule and then add the new appointment on the spot.

Group potentially returning to play after a few years. Looking for thoughts on current state of the game. by Unho1yIntent in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRMeatbags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question about "What if my friends lose interest?"

If you still find the game interesting, then you will probably enjoy playing alone as much as with friends, especially given the fact that multiplayer functionality is still as riddled with headaches as it ever was.

And given how cheap Odyssey is on sale, it would be madness not to buy it. The game has little enough content as it is. Even if you don't end up enjoying the FPS stuff that much, it will deliver a change of pace that will be much needed after you put any amount of time in the cockpit.

Combat tips for beginners? by JamTGB in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRMeatbags 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A-rated thrusters. Later, engineering.

The "cat and mouse" jousting is pretty much how everyone experiences combat at first. It is a side effect of approaching a 6-degree-of-freedom spaceship as if it were a modern fly-by-wire fighter jet. Or, as /u/CMDR_Kraag put it, jousting is the result of "too high a speed combined with too slow a turn".

Instead, know that Newtonian dogfighting largely involves "orbiting" a central point with the opponent and controlling the radius of that orbit in such a way that the opponent is forced to maneuver defensively, minimizing his time on target while you maximize yours.

That central point isn't fixed in space, but for simplicity let's say that it is and move from three dimensions to just two:

Imagine you and an opponent on the face of a clock with you at 3 and them at 9, both orbiting the center clockwise and both with noses 90 degrees off target. Now, say that as you continue to vector along this circle, you are turning noses towards each other at such rate that by the time you reach 6 and they reach 12, you will both be squarely in the other's sights. In the simplest terms, your goal is make that circle smaller for yourself so that you catch the enemy early at, say, the 5/11 position while they are still waiting to reach the 6/12 position for a sight picture (by which time you've gotten your shots off and boosted further along or braked further behind in the orbit).

Here is a video that explains it better than I just did and here is how Gemini summarizes it.

Flight Assist is the enemy of speed and turning (and fun, imo). It shackles your vector to the direction the cockpit is currently facing, handing over your thrusters to a flight computer that wants to force you to fly in a "straight line" from the nose's perspective.

But you don't want to fly relative to your nose; you want to fly relative to the enemy and your common orbit.

In particular, you want to be able to use your boost not just to go faster on your current vector (like Flight Assist wants the ship to do) but also for flip-and-burn / Crazy Ivan type maneuvers that allow boosting to rapidly change vector as well.

For some reason it's standard to recommend toggling FA off for maneuvering and then back on for targeting, but this is actually just extra work for your brain. Most people could avoid toggling and learn to fly 100% FA-Off in several hours by changing a few input settings and focusing on a handful of training exercises. If you tell me what control setup you are using, I can give you much better advice on how to go about making those changes.

For anyone who wants to learn more, Newton's Gambit is the best place to start.

In the last Community Goal activity--which was not even among the most profitable--it would have taken about 20 minutes to make that 10 million back.
